2025 BTSW Summer of Love Sign Up and Discussion Thread..... (2 Viewers)

1.01 - Chase, Ja'Marr CIN WR1: Not much to think about here. I don't know which 2024 stat is crazier: that he outscored Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes, or that if he'd put up only 80% of last year's production he still would've been WR1.

2.15 - Daniels, Jayden WAS QB3 || 3.01 - McLaurin, Terry WAS WR13: My going-in plan was just grabbing the two best RBs on the board. I probably should've stuck to it. But when Allen went 2.02 I did not expect Daniels to fall all the way to the 2/3 turn ... and in this format, being able to stack a top-3 QB and his top weapon without reaching toooo far was too enticing to pass up. Although with 28 picks in between each of mine I'm not sure the juice will end up being worth the squeeze.

4.15 - Johnson, Kaleb PIT RB23: And nope, it wasn't! With Harvey gone (damn you MoP) all the RBs left are timeshare backs or question marks ... in fact I gave serious thought to another WR and punting RB or TE completely. In the end I went with the upside of the rook in a run-heavy offense who should get most of the goal-line looks. Bleh.

5.01 - Engram, Evan DEN TE8: I don't love Engram's ceiling. I don't love his injury history. But I don't love having to spin the wheel and wait 28 picks to sort through whatever TE trash is left even more. In IBL I'd have bundled these two picks and eagerly shipped them off, or maybe punted them into the sun. Here I get to grit my teeth, pick two guys I don't want, and spend the next day or so coming up with a plan to dig myself out of this hole.

If what happens at 5.5 is what I'm thinking, we all are playing for second place.
 I think Gibbs is great and Mahomes really nice value but I'm not seeing what you're seeing I guess.
I have Hill on par or ahead of Nuka in this format. I debate him, Nuka, and Collins at me 2.3 pick. Hall is a 2nd round value, but lots of good picks at the 2/3 turn. I've been Patty's biggest detractor around here, but I would never take Nix in front of him. In best ball, I have Chase at 1.1 and then 5 guys in the mix at 1.2.

So he took George Pickens.

Should we just quit now?

5.08 Jaylen Waddle -WR - Miami Dolphins

Miami has no defense but they look very strong on offense right now, Patrick Paul LT is just tearing up camp and isn't losing any of his 1 on 1
Austin Jackson determined to try and get himself set up for a bigger pay day at RT, the IOL big upgrades
And yet the Secondary is gonna be Swiss cheese

Targets are gonna flow thru the Wide Receivers and they are gonna need a lot of points to win games, playing from behind, he's my WR3
ARSM-D.Adams-J.Waddle 1-2-3 Hit it

Waddle will be drafted much higher next season and that's what I'm looking for right now 65-75 picks in

I infer Bass thought he was going to take Jameson.

All over Jameson in best ball. He'll post enough WR1 weeks to justify going a round or two earlier. Think Gabriel Davis with Naber/Robinson talent. I think he'll match those two in 20 pt weeks and his single digit weeks can be covered by a guy in the 15th round posting a 2/40/1 week.

I like your analysis and POV on JAMO and folks like him
Best Ball allows you to get the very best games when they pop up and he can explode at times
Lions are very dynamic offense that isn't wrapped around just 1 player

1.05 Jahmyr Gibbs RB3 DET 8

Didn’t think I was going to have a shot at Gibbs here, so a nice surprise. Was between him and Jefferson with this pick. Jefferson dinged and not sure about McCarthy so Gibbs gets the nod. Great offense and should see plenty of touches even though he doesn’t even need a ton each week to produce numbers. With first round picks you are just hoping they get to maybe 80% of their ceiling give or take, I think I can get that here.

Although value is tough to get in first round, I liked the CMC and Jeanty picks later in the round. And to be completely transparent, Lamar was a small consideration for as in this format he is dominate and gives you a huge advantage vs the field and it’s nice to just set it and forget it. Bowers pick at 1.25 PPR was a little surprising.

2.11 Tyreek Hill WR11 MIA 12

Hill was a smash pick for me here. Didn’t really consider anything else. I realize there are differing opinions, but in best ball he is a nice target. Can have big weeks on few touches. I’ll be targeting him in home leagues a ton at this price.

Round two I liked the Puka and AJ Brown picks. London over those and some others gave me pause.

3.05 Breece Hall RB14 9

Couldn’t pass this up…..just couldn’t. Has big play ability and should see touches. Kind of another run to the podium pick. Have to start two in this league so I should be kinda set here.

This is a big round in these drafts that have more then 12. You kinda need to get these right. The leadoff guy finally gets to add something and the core of your team starts to develop and kind of dictate the direction of the rest of your draft. Hall to me felt like a pretty big tier break at RB as I looked at the others and there are some questions. Felt I could play catch up elsewhere. With that said, I liked the Adams and Higgins pick in this round, and thought Mr. I had a nice turn if he can recover elsewhere later.

4.11 Patrick Mahomes QB8 KC 10

For the regulars this would seem like a smash for me but it wasn’t. I really wanted Sutton here. I considered Worthy and really thought about taking Dak over Mahomes as I think Dak could chuck it 575 plus this year as their running game should suck. But Mahomes and the weapons won out even with a pending Rice suspension.

Liked the Burrow pick and loved the Sutton pick this round. I also am intrigued by Swift with Ben in town. Can’t get on the Chubba train for some reason.

5.05 George Pickens WR23 DAL 10

Not the greatest dude maybe, but love the skills and he (at least for now) seems to have a good head space in his new environment. I expect DAL to throw, throw, throw, and I could see Pickens inside the top 20. I got him at WR23 so I realize I may be pushing the ceiling a little too far but like Macklemore and Lewis I hope the ceiling can’t hold us.

Would have sniffed Worthy if he made it and Jamo was a consideration, but if Rice only gets 2 games or something, not sure Worthy’s top level and Jamo only gets about 6 targets a game. I think Dak will give Pickens some great 50/50 balls against some lower level DB’s because of Lamb. 5th round not complete so no comments there. :suds:

Great insight and explantations
For a lot of the reasons you took Hill in the late 2nd is why i gambled on Waddle in the 5th
He's a year removed from making a run at 2,000 yds, he's not cooked if he has his head screwed in straight
That police encounter on the way into the stadium was a major problem, he wasn't kidding about the wrist surgery and while I think he brought much of it on himself that day, he made that wrist injury worse when he was tossed on the sidewalk face down and cuffed, he battled that wrist injury all year IMHO
I kind of forgot about Pickens but you didn't, good job. I need to get him on my radar for upcoming $$$ redrafts, he's a very viable option and likely the 2nd best skill player after CD, easy Top 20 candidate with a healthy Dak, nice pick

@ryheaps2 otc

Swift and pollard is an epic RB duo!

:oldunsure:
What's wrong with Pollard, i thought about him
Upgrade at QB and the offense, there was never anything wrong with Pollard, blame the Dallas coaching staff and the OL
I actually agree which is why I took him.
I also took him in the 6th in a 32 team dynasty league currently drafting.
Half of his name is Lard, and that is just a big blob of fat. And fat doesn’t match up with RB talent. It equates to slow. So don’t draft Pol-LARD

So I had a lot of picks before my next one and didn't want to miss on McCarthy (one other QB I was fine with) if he would have went to someone else.

Funny, I just picked him round 9 in a ten team SF last night. Hurts is my other QB there.
I probably would have taken him here today.

Yeah we are still seeing some lag on McCarthy's ADP not matching up with projections. Pick 79 did feel a bit high for me to be taking him but my next pick at 102 likely would have been too late. Especially amongst this group.

Eta - If I thought I could wait until next round then I likely would have taken guys like Diggs instead who is now gone.

@rzrback77 I doubt we get there, but if Tampa McMillan posts again for Old Mil next round, please hold off on picking. He's on the road and it will be a couple of hours until he can fix his pre-draft.

I might have taken Njoku at 6.10 and also would have considered Monty, so good turn for you IMO.

I am about to go on a lunch date with my wife and two of our friends, so will definitely not be ready to pick for a while

Would have been all over this had I been home. Back surgery hit a snag after and I'm still not home, I'm in acute rehab :(

Sorry to hear that Rene. Prayers for a rapid recovery.

No reason anyone needs to feel rushed when we're only 12 hours into August.

@nittanylion and @Go DC Yourself do either of you take Njoku if I don't draft him?
Yes, he was first in my que of 4, given the drop off at TE. 19 picks later another hasn't been drafted.

No, I was going 100% WR with 5.14, and unsurprisingly, debating between my pick, Flowers, and Moore (GDCY), Meyers (GDCY), Ridley (my 6.02) Diggs, McMillan and a few others.

Absolutely stunning how much talent bled off the board between when I took Conner at 4.02 and when it got back to me at 5.13. Not in my most severe prognostications did I imagine the cupboard would be so bare. I thought it was close to a lock that DevSmith/Pollard would be my 5/6 turn, but...no.

I'm going to count on 'boom' weeks from Flowers as part of an overall strategy.

With Odunze having been drafted by the time I'm writing this (I loathe talking about undrafted Players), I passed on Moore because I think that situation is very fluid. I would absolutely have taken Meyers at 2.02 over Ridley, had he been available, and Ridley over Diggs, McMillan and a few others.

I'm just very surprised that Flowers and Ridley are my 2/3WR and not my 3/4, even though we've done dozens of these 16-Team serpentine Drafts.

Taking Josh Allen in the early second, and drafting from the tail will do that to you.

I'm back....thanks for the help BNB and REF. What a rookie mistake.:hot:

Fixing my pre draft now.

6.15 - Rome Odunze CHI WR38
7.01 - Ricky Pearsall SFO WR39

Drafting near the turn with you lot is enough to drive a man insane. I had, in order, Pacheco, Diggs, Tet and Hunter in my predraft queue and I thought, "OK, maybe 50/50 at best I land two of these guys ... but worst case I'll get one and I can figure out my other pick when I go OTC." :wall:

Odunze is a bet on Ben Johnson, plain and simple. WRs drafted top-10 almost never bust, and the Eberflus Bears ranked up there with the Nate Hackett Broncos in the "this guy has no f***ing idea how to call an offense" annals. If Ben can make Caleb even a league-average QB this year then both Moore (SOD so far IMO) and Odunze are going to eat.

Pearsall felt like me coming out of my comfort zone a little ... normally I'm the last guy you'll see reaching for someone 20 picks ahead of ADP ... but I keep halfway close tabs on the 49ers beat (Niners' top beat writer Matt Barrows preceded me as sports editor at our college daily) and everything I've heard is WR doom and gloom. Deebo is gone, Aiyuk is nowhere close to returning, Jennings keeps re-aggravating his calf ... this guy could wind up leading the team in targets by default, and he definitely has the size and speed to do good things with them.

I was very close to taking pearsall over judge Judy.

Now I have the core starting group (minimum number per position other than the team positions)

Happy with the upside play of Caleb. I seem to have him in too many leagues now, especially as I don’t like da bears. Still. I’ll bet on Ben Johnson getting the most out of him.

RBs - pollard and swift, fat and fast. Not great but should be solid. I didn’t intentionally take the QB / RB combo but I kinda like it.

WR - I like this trio. Judy will be hurt by horrible QB play but I think he’s a great 3. Tee is the best 2 in the game, next to the best 1 in the game, on a team that will have to throw. I have Joe in the other FBG league, wouldn’t have minded him here…
Nabers did well with terrible QB play. I think whoever throws to him this year will be an improvement. Dude could very easily be the best receiver in the game in time.

TE - I think kittle could be better for 2025 than bowers or McBride, but there’s a clear top 3.

Williams, Caleb CHI QB
Pollard, Tony TEN RB
Swift, D'Andre CHI RB
Higgins, Tee CIN WR
Jeudy, Jerry CLE WR
Nabers, Malik NYG WR
Kittle, George SFO TE

4.9 Courtland Sutton - took a bit of a hometown discount, but signed a nice extension so should remain the top target for an up and coming offense. The Broncos and QB Bo Nix struggled out of the gate, but gained steam through the season. I am not a huge fan of Coach Payton, but he does seem to get the best out of his offense. Sutton finished as WR 11 in this league a year ago and I got him as WR20 here. I'll take that. I see a lot of flex scoring coming from my WRs and love my trio of Jefferson, AJ Brown and Sutton.

5.7 Aaron Jones - waited a while on my RBs and it shows. Hoping that Jones is ready to begin strong. He teams up with Kamara, neither would be considered RB1s, but hopefully can get me RB2 scoring most weeks. I love KOC offensive play calling and efficiency over the past several years.

6.9 Stefon Diggs - I see him as the #1 target of the new look Patriots. I see him with many catches. His string of seasons with over 100 receptions ended last year at four, but he did have 47 over his eight games. He is already practicing without restrictions, so hoping he takes up where he left off and rebounds to at least close to the 100 catch mark.

7.7 Tucker Kraft - I think that the Packers will run a bit less this season, primarily that Jacobs always seem to fall off immediately following his big carry seasons.

Josh Jacobs rushing attempts by season:

2019 - 242
2020 - 273
2021 - 217
2022 - 340
2023 - 233
2024 - 301

Close to the end of day five of our draft and we have been averaging a little under 1.5 rounds per day. With 17 rounds remaining, that pace would set us up to finish up in about twelve days or August 13th. Nice pace so far, but with the FBG Home leagues kicking off on August 11th and likely the IBL Drafts around that same time, we need to keep or improve a bit on the pace.

Thanks everyone for the pre-drafts and frequent checks. Keep it up!

He has among the best chances to rise to the elite ranks imo.

1.04 CeeDee Lamb - stud that should compete for WR1 overall if Dak stays healthy. Considered Gibbs and Jefferson
2.12 Kyren Williams - was hoping for Chase Brown. Happily settle for Kyren. Health is always a concern, but think the fear of those behind him on the depth chart are overstated IMO. Really no other consideration
3.04 James Cook - was last in my RB tier. Happy to walk away with 2 quality starters at RB in a 16 team league. Considered Breece and Kamara
4.12 DK Metcalf - last of the clear cut WR1 on their team. Hoping he and Rodgers can form a relationship of "throw it up and go get it." Would have taken Baker if he fell couple more spots. Briefly looked at Engram
5.04 Dak Prescott - time for a QB and the stacking of Dak and CeeDee could lead to record type numbers. Considered Jameson, but the stack was too much to pass up
6.12 Jauan Jennings - Bleh...for the 3rd time sniped by @OldMilwaukee when he took Tet, would also have been happy with Diggs. Should be a solid WR3. Also looked at Odunze
7.04 Brian Robinson - nothing was really enticing here. Went with the guy that is still the guy at RB even if he is the 2nd running option on team

Happy with my top 2 RB and the Dak/Lamb stack. Mediocre feeling on the other guys
