And conversely, who is breaking DOWN in 2010 (1 Viewer)

Smack Tripper

I think the Johan party is over as far as being a super duper top flight guy, but I think he'll still be seen that way.

And Matsui in LA, I think he's on borrowed time outside of yankee stadium, with rumors that he'll play the OF.

From the "well...yeah" file, Rafael Furcal is toast. There's always someone in my league that drafts him around the seventh SS off the board, hoping he gets that magic back.

Give me Andrus.

Jason Bay :goodposting:

I doubt we ever see Lance Berkman be that 30-35/100/100 guy again.

Javy Vazquez, welcome back to pitching when it matters. We anxiously anticipate you crumbling under the pressure.

It's almost too fun to pick on new Mets, or Mets in general, so I'll stray from picking on the obvious, Jason Bay.

The Stros, Berkman and Lee, were the first two to pop into my head. Aramis Ramirez, Dan Uggla, and Jimmy Rollins scare me enough to stay away from them for the price tag they'll demand.

Mariano Rivera
Just curious. Why? Doesn't seem like age has gotten to him yet, and if they keep his innings down he should be rested.
I figure if I say it every year, I'll eventually be right.
:lmao: fair 'nough
The weird thing about Rivera is... he throws ONE pitch. Exclusively. As long as that one pitch continues to move as it always has, he'll always be effective. He could seriously be effective as a 50 inning reliever for the next 10 years if the cutter still bites. He's a unique pitcher that for the most part is really unaffected by his age.

Big Papi and Varitek are gonna be REALLY bad this year imo.
Varitek? What makes you think that? Was it perhaps his complete crappiness last year (.703 OPS)? Or maybe it was his complete crappiness 2 years ago (.672)?Ortiz had a good 2nd half and a good overall split against lefties. I think you will see him sit against almost every lefty this year. So, he wont hit 40 homeruns, but he will have decent OBP and SLG numbers.

Yea, Papi's bat speed just isn't there anymore for him to play against lefties anymore. He'll be a solid guy coming off the bench in the late innings when a lefty starts, but he'll need to be benched in the late innings when lefties are brought in on days when he starts.Oh, and while we're saying people like Varitek are going to be bad I am going to take this opportunity to write that Dontrelle Willis will suck, Maggs won't live up to his contract, and Carlos Guillen is going to get hurt.

I think the Red Sox are going to regret signing Marco Scutaro. I'd be shocked if he puts up anything close to 100 OPS during any year of that contract. Boston just has a terrible track record with free agent shortstops.

Anything close to 100 OPS+ would be very welcome after all the drek they have had over the years.

Matt Holliday is gonna be bad. :goodposting:
Really? Holliday is a guy I love this year. A full year of batting behind Pujols, guy could put up monster #'s. He's the real deal.

Agreed.I'm cautiously optimistic on Pineiro. The big change for him was Duncan, and he can keep up with tamping down the walks and flyballs, he should be OK in the fairly light-hitting AL West.

More hits than misses here I think, good work all.
A monkey randomly picking names out of a hat could probably have the same success. If it wasn't for pantagrapher and his 3/4 (Hill, Lee, Ibanez) a ######ed monkey picking names out of a hat could have done better.Hits - Matsui, Bay, Vazquez, Hill, Ibanez, Lee, Aramis, Rollins, ScutaroMisses - Furcal, Andrus, Berkman, Santana, Rivera, Uggla, Varitek, Big Papi, Piniero, Holliday, Lincecum

?Vasquez isn't shot, he had a bad month and I would actually list him as a miss.As for the hits, Berkman was said to not be returning to Lance Berkman land, which I don't think he is.Santana is no where near what he wasVaritek was a part time, aging catcher who got dinged with age. I will concede, I THOUGHT Pinero was shot and hadn't check in on his stat line and he's actually doing a decent job.

update?

I :lmao: Dan Uggla in OBP leagues.
I never would have touched him on draft day, but he's just having a monster season.Of course I never thought he'd hit .260+ let alone ,280+
He has the same season every year though, just with a lower BA. 27/31/32/31/27 Hrs in his first five years and the last three years he is +.350 OBP. One of the best dynasty trades I made was getting him four years ago, allowed me to deal Cano, too.

Currently sitting at 85.Julio Lugo put up an 86 in Boston last year.
