and the only undefeated team in NFL history is? (1 Viewer)

I seriously hope they give the 72 Fish a float in the victory parade!

Its amazing how you can go 1-15 and end the year with a great Super Bowl

I'm thrilled for those guys, I've always loved their honesty with wanting this record. Forget being magmanmous, their love of their record makes it all the more special.

And you owe the Jints a couple now, they took care of the 98 Broncos too!

Come on, you Dolfans aren't embarrassed by the likes of Mercury Morris?
yeah, I wish they would show more class in what they say, but you take a few dumb "apples" and paint a brush over the entire team as well as their fans? That is just as bad. They deserve to want to cherish something they have, but the y should show a lot of class if it is broken or even to respect what a great year NE had this year. NE fell short, but it was a great year.

I'm really glad the '72 Dolphins still have their record, but I'm being a bit selfish about it. Fifteen years from now, most of them will probably be dead, and we won't have to hear from them anymore. If the Patriots had won, it would probably be several decades of listening to Rodney Harrison. No thanks.

Which reminds me...I've never seen a guy remove his helmet on the field...more times than Harrison...inbetween plays...I thought there was a rule, no?

Don't get me wrong, I hate the Patriots and am happy as can be that they lost. But the '72 Dolphins played...what 3 winning teams all season? Hard to call that the best team ever.
What more can a team do than play the schedule handed to it? At the same time, I can at least partially grant your premise. The 1972 Dolphins get their ticket punched into the final round in that conversation due to record. If they went 16-1 due to a regular season loss, they might not make the conversation. Teams like the 85 Bears and the 91 Redskins make the conversation in other ways. It's a matter of debate and honestly I think a matter of what you want in a team. Do you want the best record? A backup QB who can lead a team? A tough schedule? A bruising defense? Something else?
I wonder if people realize that even though Miami was the #1 Seed, they had to play the AFC Championship ON THE ROAD at Pittsburgh. Some weird ### rule where they decided the teams that would host the conference championships before the season. Anyway... only one undefeated team in the Super Bowl era. The Dark Side falls...

They'll be buried there.

...Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins #1! :nerd: Thank-you Giants!
It's funny.Just found out that 72 Miami team is just renting from the first Undefeated team.1948 Cleveland Browns. So lets get this correct.Miami is not the only undefeated team.History is History. It may not happen again, but it did happen before. :lmao:

I'm certain that the 1948 Browns were a wonderful team.

The OP is correct. The 1972 Dolphins are the only perfect team in NFL history.

 I honestly watched the game without having a clue how badly I would end up rooting for the Giants. I mean, I knew I wanted the Patriots to lose, but it wasn't until the 4th quarter that I really realized how MUCH I wanted the Dolphins to remain the only perfect team. This Super Bowl was really a thrill.

If you phrase it as "The 1972 Dolphins are the only perfect team in professional football history", the statement is incorrect.Just sayin' :banned:

:lmao: Truer words were never spoken - every phin fan takes away a tiny sliver of a feeling of success this year simply because the Pats didn't win it all. But an even bigger slice is served that they didn't go undefeated.

Sorry Pats fans,m but that is the nature of "rivalry." If you are a true Pats fans (and older than my latest freckle), then you know exactly how this feels since you lived through a bunch of years of suckitude while the phins were on top of their game.

Hey those grapes taste too sour for you?Everyone knows what is meant by that statement - they are the only undefeated super bowl winner.

That's not it, really. The 1948 Browns were part of the AAFC. Numerous teams in the AAFC were absorbed into the NFL in 1950.In other words, while the 1948 Browns were a perfect team, they played in a different league. The 1948 NFL Champions were the Philadelphia Eagles.ETA: The only other undefeated teams were the '34 and '42 Bears, but they (like another team that escapes my memory for some reason) ran the table during the season, then lost the championship game. The '72 Dolphins are the only perfect NFL team, before or after the SB.

It is part of it, Goat. Noone really talks about NFL champs prior to the creation of the Super Bowl

Anyone else think it`s only a matter of time before the NFL drops 2 exhibition games and makes the regular season 18 games? It`s been floated out there already, so really to join "the neighborhood" a team will have to go 21-0!

Fun stat of the day. Yanks have won only 6 world Series.

Not 26. Why you ask?

Because the guy who started this post jamny.

Only wants to go back to 1966.

So ok Yank fans. Score now Yanks=6 Boston=2(Won the last two between things teams).

History was forever changed on Feb.3th 2008 by the one and only jamny.

Good to go down in History. Until 2058 when someone else says lets start from year 2001.

Boston=12 Yanks=0. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Your sentence structure is terrible.

Numerous teams from the AAFC were not absorbed into the NFL in 1950, just three: The Browns, the 49'ers, and the original Baltimore Colts who went belly-up after one season. The AAFC was an eight-team league from 1946-1948 and a seven-team league in 1949.
