Andre Ellington - RB - Clemson. (1 Viewer)

Sigh. I hate the short benches in my one league. Had to drop Bortles in a 2qb to pick up Dwyer just to make sure I have a starter come Monday. Great start to the year.
I dropped my personal favorite Rod Streater and I don't feel good about it, even though that team is stacked with WRs. I still think Dwyer's a bum.
I dumped Kelce. Similarly not thrilled about it, but in a 14-team league, the odds are I'd need this bum over a second TE, no matter how much potential the dude has.
This was a mistake. Kelce might be this year's julius thomas. Dwyer will be this year's crappy backup who sucks.
Maybe. I doubt it, though. No Andy Reid TE has ever been that good. If I lose a 60/700/7 guy, so be it. That's why I drafted Kyle Rudolph.

Kelce has the same hype as Ladarius Green last year. Fasano is no Gates, but he's an incumbent who can play in-line and is a good run blocker. It's a shame, but I don't think Kelce will see the field enough to be relevant.

People on twitter are reporting that no surgery will be required, just rest.

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet 38m
#Cardinals RB Andre Ellington has been dealing with his foot issue for a few weeks. Thought it would heal. Rest, but no surgery required.

Jay Glazer@JayGlazer 42m
First prognosis on RB Andre Ellington is that foot injury is muscle injury. Still waiting MRI results and foot specialist
So the next question is:

Rest -- as in, don't practice or play on this for a while OR

Rest -- as in, don't practice during the week but get out of bed to play the game on Sunday

It's not uncommon for guys to do the latter if they can still actually play on the thing...

But who knows...

Seems like the beat writers are even guessing. I listen to Glazer more than anyone as his news always seems to be on target more than most. Him saying its just a muscle is relieving. Does not mean it is not serious but helps me get this "8 week" gut feeling out of my head.

It's bad news even if it ends up becoming only a few week thing, because it's only going to reinforce Arians' idea from last year that Ellington can't be a lead back. Major bummer.

Per RW:

Citing multiple league sources, the Arizona Republic reports Andre Ellington's foot injury could cost him "significant time."

The Republic echoes a previous report from XTRA 910 in Phoenix, which called Ellington a candidate to "be out an extended period of time." The injury is believed to be a preexisting condition, which Ellington aggravated in practice. Coach Bruce Arians will not speak to reporters again until Saturday. Since teams playing on Monday night do not issue final injury reports on Friday, we'll have to wait for Saturday to find out whether Ellington is "questionable," "doubtful," or "out." He should not be in any fantasy lineups right now.

XTRA 910 Phoenix's Mike Jurecki suggests Andre Ellington's foot injury could cost him "4-6 weeks or longer."

Per Jurecki, "a lot will depend on how quickly he heals," which obviously isn't predictable. Fantasy owners should definitely keep their early-round draft pick rostered, but Ellington may not be usable for the first month of the season or more. Expect Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, and to a lesser extent rookie third receiver John Brown to open the season as Arizona's featured offensive weapons. Jonathan Dwyer is expected to start at tailback, and Stepfan Taylor will mix in.

Oy.

All this guessing is pointless until the MRI comes back. Then you will know about how long he will be out. Hell, the MRI could show nothing and he could be back in 2 or 3 weeks, or it could show he has a lisfranc or something else just as serious. You can't believe anything anyone says until the MRI comes back.

I am new here, but is this typical of a thread? A lot of people who own Ellington come and type negative things about the situation until real news breaks? All I see is an MRI and a muscle injury. A radio guy saying he "could miss significant time" and others retweeting it and running with it is not multiple sources by the way. This is not good and everyone knows it, we dont need angry owners upset he is hurt to vent about that to know it. Has anyone ever heard positive energy brings positive results?

I'm being positive, I would think a 4-6 week timetable is excellent when I predict a 8 week for no other reason then its just a number that keeps coming to mind.

I tend to agree, my point is that Glazer saying something not as catastrophic send a little hope my way.

Glazer isn't a doctor, so I'm not sure how he sends any hope anyone's way. The MRI will either send hope or despair your way, not Glazer.

It's like the stock market. Everyone already has so much information they are just scratching and clawing for every additional bit of information they can to gain an advantage.

As for the gloom and doomers, I suppose we all have had a time where we thought some one would play, then they got us the golden goose egg instead. I guess, if the negative talk is impetus for Ellington owners to protect themselves and get their backups in place, then "mission accomplished." In the end, this is a message board for football generally and fantasy football specifically -- so it makes sense.

Personally, I greatly prefer this thread to any thread about Seattle vs. XYZ team. Here the worst we get is some amusing black humor. There, you have to keep your head on a swivel to keep from getting personally attacked. :-)

Never insinuated he was. Is it against the rules for me to pick and choose what brings me hope in regards to a players injury and what doesnt?

I wanted to edit with this, all the people saying that he will be out for a long period of time are not doctors from what I understand, as a matter of fact the person who started this is just a radio guy. Granted he might be privy to info but he is not a doctor either.

As an Ellington owner, I'd sign for a 4-6 week time table. That might be optimistic even.
Based on.....?
Well u saw this report of an 'extended period of time'. When there's smoke, there's fire. This guy is obviously hearing info from a source and he a legitimate beat guy apparently.

I can't imagine this is a week-to-week thing, im preparing for the worst and hoping for the best which in my eyes is probably 4-6 weeks. Just my gut feeling
The beat guy is Mike JureckiTwitter here as I'm sure he'll shoot out updates: https://twitter.com/mikejurecki

Ariz Homers -- is Jurecki typically on target?
yes he is legit.

I like where you going with this, but I googled Cousin Oliver and still don't get it.

I should have realized that not everyone is old enough to remember The Brady Bunch.

Cousin Oliver was a jinx. He turned everything to MUSH.

Poor choice of words on my part. Let me try again. Jay Glazer won't be any more privy to information regarding Ellington's health than anyone else until the MRI comes back. Even Glazer can't rush those results.

Dude, I just remembered Cousin Oliver. Too funny!

At first I thought he might have been related to Liz Frank.

I follow him and he has his finger on the pulse, but he doesnt seem sure, just like anyone trying to report this story. Only point I am intending to make is I'm not saying he is not correct or will not be, just cant take more weight in his comment than Glazers at this point is all.

Yes that's the right cousin Oliver, though a number of sitcoms through the 70's attempted the same stale adopt a kid schpiel with no luck. Cousin Oliver is a jinx. Em will be pleased.
