Andre Johnson to be a GTD WK 16? (1 Viewer)

(FFChamps) Coach Gary Kubiak stated that Andre Johnson will likely be a game-time call for Sunday's tilt at Denver, according to team writer Nick Scurfield. Analysis: Johnson didnt practice today while still dealing with his sprained ankle. Hopefully he can play as he could do nice damage for fantasy owners against a soft Denver defense that surrendered 25 scores through the air.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak characterized Andre Johnson (ankle) as a "game time decision" for Week 16 in his Wednesday presser.

"Game-time decision" is a loosely used phrase, despite its scary fantasy connotations. "We'll do our usual deal and see where he is at," added Kubiak. Texans beat writers have expressed no concern about Johnson missing Sunday's game. It'd be a major shock if he didn't start against the Broncos.

the only weird thing about the way he spoke is all year- since the injury- Kubiak has said - we're resting him in practice, doing our usual thing, but he'll be out there Sunday.............

Now it's we're resting him, doing our usual thing and he'll be a GTD..... Seems like a clear downgrade and prob due to them being out of contention.

I was counting on him for the championship week...

This is nice, add another to the questionable list along with another thread to :goodposting: . That's half my lineup. Hasn't been a fun week thus far.

I'm trying to decide between AJ, Colston or Nicks as my #2 WR, but for now I have AJ in there. Nicks in GB with potentially troubling weather and Colston against a solid Falcons' "D" don't seem to be the best options. Unless I hear that he is not playing I think I'll roll with Andre.

I know wrong time of the year for a guy of his status to be a GTD. Gates and now AJ. Looks like Walter, Mason or WW fodder although I thonk Walter looks like a nice start

Not sure if Lance Moore would be on anyone's waiver wire but he plays in the Sunday night game, Robert Meachem is questionable, and the Saints are playing the Falcons in a game where there should be a lot of pass attempts. I just added him in case Andre doesn't go. Also just picked of Rashad Jennings to replace an ailing Hillis. Should be an interesting championship week.

Not looking good guys for Andre: Andre Johnson-WR-Texans Dec. 24 - 2:54 pm et According to the Houston Chronicle, there is a "good chance" that Andre Johnson (ankle, questionable) will miss Week 16.Johnson did say he'll base his playing status on how he feels during pre-game warmups Sunday, but he hasn't sounded as optimistic as coach Gary Kubiak. Should Johnson sit out against the Broncos, Jacoby Jones would get the start. Johnson's high ankle sprain has only cost him one game to this point. Fantasy owners should go with early-game options if they are strong plays. Broncos-Texans doesn't start until 4:05 ET Sunday.Source: Houston ChronicleRelated: Jacoby Jones

At the risk of polluting this thread, can anyone tell me or direct me to information about how Matt Schaub's numbers are impacted when Andre Johnson is out?

Considering the chance he doesn't play, if Jacoby Ford is available on your ww, I'd add him because it gives you the flexibility of waiting for the GTD about Andre because the Texans and Raiders are playing eachother. Bump For in return yardage league, plus the Texans secondary is miserable. This is unless you have better options on your bench. I have Nicks Wallace and Andre with Jacoby Ford on my bench, so I wouldn't be in miserable shape..it's something to consider

JB just posted this on facebook about MJD, but applies to AJ as well:

Maurice Jones-Drew was not at practice. No player who's missed Friday has played Sunday this year.

WhO does this help more- Walter or Daniels? Or serious bumps for both?
Maybe neither. Without AJ the defensive scheme will be different, obviously helping in areas it couldn't before the news. They don't have to worry about double covering AJ or rolling coverage anymore. Yes, I know they wouldn't double AJ with Champ Bailey on the field, but they would roll coverage.

The Colts don't give up a lot through the air, so I don't think I would trust Jacoby Ford. Maybe Jacoby Jones is a better play?

GEEZ. My fault, for some reason I thought the Texans and Raiders were matching up. Don't know how I missed that one. Too bad I wasted my last add of the week on Rashad Jennings..but then again, maybe not..Either way at least I have Ford if I need him for the 4:00 game, I play in a return yardage league so I'll keep my fingers crossed he can bust one loose if AJ doesn't go..

It's a nice thing to have Rashad Jennings right now

That was legit embarrassing and will probably bother me all weekend but thanks for the classy way of correcting me rather than calling me out..appreciate it..

bump up foster, remember the little 71 yard pass to the flat oakland pulled with their #3 running back last week

This new news sucks. Given my backup option is Blair White, at least I can sub in if he sits.

Somehow Blair for Andre just doesn't seem right in the championship game. :wall:

October 22, 2010Hakeem Nicks was riding a stationary bike at the Giants' practice on Friday, according to the New York Post's Paul Schwartz. Our View:It's unclear exactly what is bothering Nicks. We wouldn't worry about this for now, and hopefully we'll have more on this item later in the day.
not sure if this counts as missing practice? but FWIW he played.

That would suck just a little bit extra -- I lose AJ, and my opponent has Arian Foster.

Favre missed Friday and Saturday and played Monday. :)

This is not what I wanted to hear right now.

I already passed up Wallace on Thursday night to go with Webb on Sunday night at WR3. 1 & 2 are AJ and Williams TB. I picked up Meachem to serve as my emergency in case Favre decided to play and Webb didn't start. Now looks like I need possibly go get another emergency WR for AJ.

I've got the same option and I'm not sure if we will get clarification before the early games kickoff. Ugh.

I actually think AJ being out would hurt Foster because it allows the defense to focus on stopping the run since there is a major weapon gone from the passing game. I don't know if that is how it plays out, but if I was the Denver DC I would have 8 or 9 in the box and make Walters and Jones beat me.

I'd say Denver's D is so bad it doesn't matter if they focus on Foster...they'll still blow it.KY

Report on CBS Sportsline:

Andre Johnson, WR HOU

News: Andre Johnson jogged around the Texans’ practice facility but didn’t take part in practice Friday as he continues to deal with an ankle injury. Johnson said Thursday that he re-injured his ankle a couple of weeks back against the Ravens and he's sore around his Achilles'. He says he feels more pain when he runs than before. He remains a game-time decision for Sunday’s game vs. the Broncos, coach Gary Kubiak said. “We’ll bring him in early (Saturday) and see if he can go,” Kubiak said.

This is some encouraging news that he was jogging around. We will know Saturday for certain based on his practice and if he makes the trip. Might be early enough to allow others to make a BU plan. If he starts I just hope that cutting and tackles will not force him out. Dude is as tough as they come and really wants to get in there. Have to beleive that the knuckle headed reverse in the Raven game has landed us owners in a tough spot but that was a few weeks ago so he seems to be a 50-50 chance for now.

Johnson really wants 1500 yards and kubiak wants him to get there

I believe if he is able to play he will be a major part of the game plan
