Android 4.4.4 is OUT (1 Viewer)

i think my battery ife is improving marginally with the update, which is cool.

unrelated mostly but i switched from chrome to cheetah browser on my phone. LOVE IT. super fast and the "cards" bit is reminiscent of webOS.

Apparently the L version on Android coming this fall will increase battery life by about 38% on all of our phones.

anyone switch from Davlik to ART runtime? problems? improved speed?

also, upgraded to 4.4.2 this weekend... the new lock screen. otherwise...meh, havent noticed any difference

Hulk you have an N4 don't you? I read a comment somewhere else that referenced the N4 not going to get the L update. This makes no sense to me since it will only be 2 yr old and it is a Nexus device. Any truth to this?

Nexus 4 is absolutely getting the L update after combing through the source code that was released yesterday.

They may not get the preview/developer os like the N5, but will get the final product

So, good news for you guys.

ART will be the default runtime in the L os.

There is minimal difference on an N5, tho you may notice slightly better battery life. Most apps are ART compliant now too. nearly all,

I'm still planning to switch my service to Page+ because of the battery on the Maxx. I found someone that could flash the phone from VZW to P+ for my mom to use. She's been using it for a few weeks now. Seems to be going well for her.

I do. It's definitely getting it, even the 2012 Nexus 7 is getting it.

I hope this doesn't come mess up my GS3 like the latest update.
I doubt the S3 will get this update... and if it does, it likely wont be for a looooong time. In fact, I dont think the S3 is even on Kit Kat yet.. is it?

Nexus updates are direct from Google. Other phones get updates from your cell provider.

What version in the S3 on now?
S3 on Verizon, Still on Jelly Bean. I'm guessing Verizon never pushes KitKat to the S3.
Happy to be wrong about this. Got 4.4.2 pushed overnight. :drive:

The new Google Search has an option within in it to activate the "ok google" command even from a locked screen, or when the phone is "idle"

example: if im paying in bd I can now say "ok google, set an alarm for 9am" and it does it without touching the device. pretty sweet

still in its infantile stages so some bugs. but awesome regardless

Is there a worse piece of software than Samsung kies? Not sure how any major corporation can push out such buggy POS code.

Still have Galaxy S2's that I was trying to update to 4..1.2. Only took me two computers and 10 hours to get two phones upgraded.

The Moto X has had this since release. It's a really neat feature, especially while driving.

Yeah it's really cool until someone around you says "OK google... Kiddie pr0n"

My issue has returned where it won't grab emails when on wi-fi on my Nexus 5. That was a problem before update for a while, then it was fine. Running 4.4.4 for several weeks without an issue, but it has popped up again today.

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to update to 4.4.3 for a few weeks now on a stock Nexus 5. Currently running 4.4.2. Even tried sideloading via adb and keep getting errors. Latest is

"/system/bin/pppd" has unexpected contents.E:Error in /tmp/update.zip(Status 7)Installation aborted.Any suggestions on what to do here?

ETA - also tried wiping cache partition...no help.

I had update issues with Galaxy Note 2 and had to reset device. Works fine now, but it sucks to reset.

Any suggestions on what to do here?
Load the factory image
Do you mean wipe data/factory reset?

If I do that I assume I'll have to reload all of my non-stock apps. Does that have to be done one at a time or is there a fast way to do that? Also, I assume I'll lose all of my pics/movies. Correct?
not exactly, but that will happen. I mean use fastboot to flash the actual factory image that google publishes.

You will either want to do a back up or rely on google's back up to restore your apps.
