Android apps (1 Viewer)

Today I downloaded an app called Congress

What this app does is, based on your location displays your Senator and Congressman's contact information and profile. Also you can click on your reps and see bills they sponsored. Or you can just search for bills or just see what has been voted on recently, also you can see how each rep voted. You can also read the text of the bills in the app as well.

Pretty cool app.

I like that one as well. Has video from the floor for your local reps and plenty of information on bills passed and up for vote.

What is swype? I'm waiting for the droid x in a few weeks to get my first smart phone so I'm not up on all this stuff. What's the difference in swype and just regular old touch key pad on the droid?

WidgetLocker - Customizable lock screen widget  - When you get an alert all you do is wake your phone and you can have you messages there(i have the Pure Messenger there), you can scroll through and reply without having to unlock the phone and go to the app. Also nice just to see what it is, even if you don't want to reply.

Pure Messenger - Allows you to have all your messages(email, texts, twitter, facespace) in one scrollable widget.

I'm sure it's been mentioned but Handcent is great text program. You can also set this up to give you alerts over the top of your lock screen.

I'm not sure how I texted pre-Swype, this is amazing technology.
Just downlaoded SWYPE, seems like it will help a lot. However, I wish they had the microphone as a key so i could still inur via voice.
As much as I love Swype, the lack of a microphone key is a pretty big annoyance. There also seems to be no key to close the keyboard.Edit: I just saw the tip about 'Speak' being in the menu. That's a big help.

Agreed, getting rid of that was kinda gay. On my droid, you can hit the menu key and select "Speak" and it allows you to use the voice feature though.
Not sure where you'd put it. Keyboard is pretty much cramped and filled up already.

The back button closes the keyboard.
Or holding down the menu key.

Alright then, Swype is fully awesome. Thanks for the tips.

according to my e-mail, sirius/xm app finally released for android.
That would be great. I don't see it in the market yet though.
It's not a Market app. You have to go to the Sirius XM site to DL it. Make sure you change your settings to allow non-Market apps.
I got it now. Looks good. Any idea what it cost to as this to a subscription? Can you get it as a stand alone?
No idea as i can't get my email and password to work with it. I've tried calling Sirius twice and been on hold for 15 minutes plus and got disconnected.

IIRC, $3 additional to an existing subscription.

Not bad. If they would let me I would just get the app alone. And use my phone in the car for music.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...Nice
Now why the hell does this have to be so freaking complicated?! Why won't my phone allow this install (and I've already enabled non-network apps)? This is so frustrating.

Does your phone come standard with a previous version of swype?

Can you give us details of where you are getting hung up at?I know I had to uninstall the installer and manually delete everything Swype from my phone and start over. It worked then.

 I am most likely headed this direction, especially after SIRIUS raised prices without alerting me AGAIN.I think going with just the app would be about $100 a year, and that comes with the internet radio.
