a lot of them you can't...

which is one of the many reasons many of us are Nexus 5 users

is there a good phone without the preloaded apps that has a removable battery? I wouldn't touch a phone without a removable battery

I thought the same thing, but I love the Moto X. It's as close to a Nexus or GPe phone as you can get. The battery life on this thing is pretty good, I easily get through a day without charging and can sometimes get a good day and a half/2 days out of it. So not having a removable battery isn't a huge deal to me. Plus I have a charger in my car, at work and of course at home so if I am running out of juice, I'm pretty well covered.

Yep. Almost as dumb as phones/tablets with no SD cards.

I dunno, I dont think Ive ever come close to even using 1/2 of my 32GB... But if you toss all your music and media on there... sure Id guess youd need more space.

Go to Setting-->Apps-->All

Just find the app and if it's possible, disable it. I've done that with NFL Mobile, VZ Navigator, Verizon Tones and Caller Name ID.

Try Waze. Think you'll need to create an account, but it's pretty good on traffic, where cops are, etc.

Because it doesn't do anything that theScore doesn't already do. Plus I think you have to pay monthly to be able to watch the games and stuff through there, why do that when I have the Sunday Ticket app?

Google Now

Yes Goolge Now is perfect for this. Can input your home and work address and it will show you the travel time between the 2 places and tell you how traffic is.

I can't remember what it was, but I used to have a widget (I thought it came on the phone) where you could put in a destination and it would constantly monitor the traffic to there. Only took a 1x1 space on the homescreen showing green/yellow/red and the amount of time to get there in current conditions.

I can't remember what it was so that's probably not of much help, but at least you know there is a solution out there somewhere.

ETA: It comes with google maps. The widget name is "Directions". It looks like it does it based on your current location to the destination, not sure of a way to set two fixed points.

ETA2: Nope, that doesn't appear to be it. Can't get it to show the traffic direct on the homepage like the one I'm remembering.

It's actually an incredibly annoying app. I pay $5 a month for that app to watch Redzone, etc. on my phone during the season. Lately, when I click links, my phone often asks if I want to open with my browser or NFL mobile. At first, I thought I thought it was just NFL.com links, which makes sense, but nope, it asks to open with NFL mobile for many different sites quite often.

Disabled until football season.

Profile Scheduler is a cool simple app if you want to set your phone to be quiet during certain times/hours, such as sleeping, school or work hours, etc. You can create multiple time profiles for whatever days you want. Your phone will automatically switch to silent or vibrate or normal.

Give Google Now a few days. Once it knows your work and home locations, it starts figuring out WHEN you leave for work and when you leave for home. And then it sends you traffic alerts. For example, this morning I woke up and in my alert bar at the top was the time to work. And it'll show up today before I leave. This pretty much beats a widget. Takes up no space and just gives you the information when you need it.

I removed swype. I would try to edit an email and the ####### cursor would jump to a totally random spot after I had placed it right where I wanted. Frustrating as hell and it hasn't happened since I switched back to the stock keyboard.

That's a fair point. Though I think people have posted videos on how to take the back off the Moto X. Granted I haven't done it or looked into it, but I know it feels like it can be removed.

For podcasts, I dl'd PocketCasts. Just as I was setting up the new app I paid for, I went back to DoggCatcher to see which podcasts I subscribed to. I then noticed that DoggCatcher has added in a new FF button that allows you to go X seconds forward and is customizable - just what I was looking for. So... UP YOURS Pocket Casts, I'm sticking with DoggCatcher.

Try Inrix. It pulls in traffic cam pics as well, if they are used in your area. I like it better than Waze

I will check it out. Profile switcher quit shutting off when it was supposed to so I ditched it.

I've been using Apex on all of my devices for a while now. It's pretty similar to a stock launcher, but it has tons of customization options and gives you the ability to load custom icon packs.

Llama is a great app. I've been using it for over a year. I had to root my S4 Mini in order to allow llama to switch to airplane mode each night.

I use it a ton, but still have just scratched the surface of its abilities.

Yeah Nova is isnt much different than TW as far as function but I love how you can change the size of icons as well as number of rows and columns of icons on your homescreens, which is really cool. Having up to 7 apps in the bottom dock is great, too, as is stacking apps on top of each other to create folders, without having to create an actual folders to drop apps in.

Just lots more customizations in Nova over TW.

I don't use anything Go. It's chock full of ads, and it's UI seems like a cheap layer over everything.

Nova is what TW should be. I used it over Android's stock. It's far from TW, not even close.
