A decent signing considering the Angels seem resigned to letting Guerrero leave. Abreu had another nice year at a sub-market rate in 2009. He'll be 37 in the final year of the deal so there's some risk there but he's been pretty reliable over the years.
A big budget team spending to retain a well liked veteran isn't a very good leading indicator of where the market will be

A good signing by the Angels. Proven commodity. A little pricey in this market but keeping a proven vet is a plus for the team and the fans. That 3rd year buyout option is sweet for the club and helps justify the overall contract IMO.
