Giants WR Biddle shot in hand, leg

DECATUR, Ala. (AP) -- New York Giants receiver Taye Biddle is recovering from gunshot wounds to his hand and leg after being shot while visiting family in his hometown.

Decatur police said in a statement Thursday that Biddle was shot outside a residence and was treated and released from a hospital. Police said there was no evidence Biddle caused or provoked the shooting.

"He had surgery on his hand today," Biddle's friend, Bruce Jones, told The Decatur Daily Thursday. "He told me his leg is OK, and he ought to be fine."

The 25-year-old Biddle grew up in Decatur and played college football at the University of Mississippi.

Police have not made any arrests in the case.

Biddle was promoted from the Giants' practice squad after receiver Plaxico Burress was suspended for a game in September.

Since you asked...From www.bigblueintercative.com:

Taye Biddle spent most of the season on the Giants’ Practice Squad. Biddle was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Carolina Panthers after the 2006 NFL Draft. In 2006, Biddle started off the season on Carolina’s Practice Squad before being signed to the active roster in November. He finished the season with three catches for 37 yards. The Panthers waived him before the 2007 season and he spent that year on the Buccaneers’ Practice Squad. The Lions signed him in July 2008, but waived him in August. Biddle is tall, but thin. He has very good speed.

I thought there was a time limit you could stay on practice squads. Is it one year for a given team, or could you literally go from team-to-team spending time on practice squads for multiple years?

Seems the Giants WR's are better at catching bullets than footballs.

They should have Eli pulling the trigger............ he would never hit them..!!!!

In related news, next year NY Giants training camp will open one week earlier. The extra week will be spent in gun safety courses.

the giants are proving that not all the thugs in the NFL are on the Dallas Cowboys.
Dude gets randomly shot visiting him mom in the 'hood. How does that make him a thug? :goodposting: If you know something more then please share.
Maybe he should move his mom out of the hood. Also, in general, I think it's hard for NFL players to turn their back on old buddies from these neighborhoods, but it is in their best interest to do so.

Hard to do when you're on the practice squad
Somehow I believe he could afford an apartment for her. Maybe they could live together.

All valid points but I still don't see how getting shot makes you a thug.

I'm not saying this is the case here, but some believe you are who you hang out with.

What you said the second time is a valid argument. One I happen not to agree with and also not at all what you said the first time, but there you go.
