But only one of them pulls the trigger and pushes the controller buttons. There are guns, people and video games in almost every country. In fairness, there is nothing any of us can currently do to change the number of people that are dead.I can see how if someone is convinced that guns are the problem, an event like this would completely infuriate them. Why don't we wait for things to settle an hour or so before reporting how many dead/injured?
Why don't we wait for things to settle down a bit before you political circus animals start in on your usual BS?
I personally don't own a gun and never will. I also have no idea why any human would want to own an assault weapon, that is specifically designed to fire rounds fast and to KILL PEOPLE.
I also am disgusted that a person thinks that their life is so bad that its acceptable to go shoot up a freaking elementary school. What an awful human.
Finally, you have to admit that video games MIGHT be causing a problem here. We have people that play video games where they can walk around a city and mow people down with machine guns. They play on huge TV's and it almost seems life-like. It's not hard to imagine a person mentally snapping and acting out things they've been doing in video games, in real life.
Guns, people in general, video games...they are all part of the problem. It's hard to see how anyone could argue otherwise.
Behavioral meds seem to be a common theme in these things and I'd be willing to put them ahead of the other 3.Guns, people in general, video games...they are all part of the problem. It's hard to see how anyone could argue otherwise.

true. The behavioral meds tend to be given to people who are emotionally/psychologically unstable to begin with.Behavioral meds seem to be a common theme in these things and I'd be willing to put them ahead of the other 3.Guns, people in general, video games...they are all part of the problem. I feel the same. Theoretically, all life is worth the same, but it hits me so much harder when innocent children are massacred. It's the most ##### ### bull#### that a sorry excuse of a human could do, IMHO.How anyone could harm such innocence is beyond me.
And when they get off of them......We stopped trying to have people control themselves. unbelievable.OMFG. This was a Kindergarten class. No. Jesus.
In an elementary school? Obviously it's possible, but not likely. My point is more that these things tend to be reported fast and recklessly. Not a big deal I guess and certainly doesn't change anything.Because teenagers are incapable of having kids?20 sounds too young to be a father.
Jesus. I am having the irrational thought of running to my kids school and taking him home for the day.I can't even imagine sending my kindergartner to school a week before Christmas and getting a call that some psycho shot and killed her. Just heartbreaking.
Yep, unbelievable. I would trade my life for any young child. I really can't understand any human being cannot feel close to the same way.I feel the same. It's okay to be irrational about your kids sometimes. But it would probably freak your kid out more than it would make you feel better.Jesus. No ####### words... Haven't felt this sick to my stomach in 11 years. ####.OMFG. This was a Kindergarten class. No. Jesus.
My daughter was 5 in Kindergarten last year. 15 year olds have babies every day.In an elementary school? Obviously it's possible, but not likely. Huge advocate for this. I bring it up and get shot down pretty quickly around here. We should really consider this as a nation. But that is for another discussion. We need an Official gun control debate thread so we can stick with the updates on the individual incidents separately. In some places, yes. Interesting and short read. I'd have never guessed. This is an interesting point. Are teaches and pricipals allowed to carry guns in school?
Same here.Jesus. I am having the irrational thought of running to my kids school and taking him home for the day.I can't even imagine sending my kindergartner to school a week before Christmas and getting a call that some psycho shot and killed her. Just heartbreaking.
In fairness to many of the arguments in this thread (save zeff's despicable remark), just because they're wanting to debate gun laws or whatever else doesn't mean they're not respecting the kids. Thinking you cannot talk about the possibly actions that caused this incident for x period of time is a bit silly. We're not going to the school where this happened and having a debate. It's an internet message board. Why don't we wait for things to settle an hour or so before reporting how many dead/injured?Why don't we wait for things to settle down a bit before you political circus animals start in on your usual BS?People need to have some damn respect for the kids that were killed here...
Are some put on medication who shouldn't be? Of course. But that doesn't mean that millions don't benefit greatly from psychiatric medication. And when they get off of them......We stopped trying to have people control themselves. Fine, IMO while it's going on is not the time. Here where I live in Missouri they have a squad car posted at every school every day - in addition to security guards who do not carry firearms.Huge advocate for this. While the sales are abysmal the PS3 is sold there and very popular. Every major shooting game, except Halo, is available on that unit.CoD, Battlefield, Halo, etc. sell the vast majority of their games in America. These games barely make a dent in Japan (and Xbox 360s aren't even sold there as there wasn't a market for them).

Not agreeing with the thought that video games are part of the problem necessarily, just saying that the kind of violent, gun video games that would be what he is referencing are pretty much only in America at high levels.
Dr. Awesome is right if we knew everyone would handle the discussion like an actual adult, but we know that won't happen here. Pretty sure that's why everyone's saying 'save it'.Fine, IMO while it's going on is not the time. WItnesses apparently saw an adult being led away in handcuffs, but it has not ben confirmed that there was or, if so, the reason.CBS continuing to hint a second gunman might be involved.
but the shootings games aren't. PS3 is a Japanese company and still has quirky Japanese games and RPGs (Square) that sell like crazy in Japan. Yeah, my kid's school also locks the doors but it's pretty easy to get in if you want. And honestly, I think that easy access to a school is desirable in 99.99999% of cases. I don't want schools to be prisons. The shooter could've pretended to be a parent to get access to the building, and that may be causing some confusion. There was supposed to be an external locking system in place that the shooter somehow defeated ... we'll be hearing more about that in the near future....Got two kids in elementary school, and I know that it would be really easy for anyone to walk in off the street at either one of them. I wish elementary schools didn't have to have federal-building levels of protection ... but man, I don't know.
Trust me I know. It's the only thing stopping me from going there now. That and having to explain to him WHY I'm so freaked out. It's okay to be irrational about your kids sometimes. This is actually a lot longer-standing problem than is commonly realized. Note that the list given is still almost certainly incomplete -- for instance, they show none from 11/8/2005 - 11/30/2012.This, Columbine, and the Norway shooting of 80 at a summer camp. How much of this stuff happened in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's???
