Another school shooting (4 Viewers)

The swat team went to his fathers house in nj so maybe dad lived in nj, mom in newtown.

:goodposting: I feel like I have been punched in the gut. Being a father of a 2nd grader and a 7th grader my heart just breaks for these people. Just hours ago these kids were going about their day looking forward to Santa and opening presents on Christmas morning. Some children lost their lives and many more lost their innocence. I can’t begin to imagine the pain these parents must be experiencing. Their lives have been utterly destroyed by some sick evil person. You should be able to send you child to school and know that he will be safe and taken care of. My prayers are with all those affected.

as much as we're all annoyed by him and he should probably find a better thread to post in...What did he say that is so offensive?Or are you referring to the poster who said he hopes all Right Wing Adult's children are murdered? Because, yeah, that guy should be banned.

The school apparently upgraded security protocols at the start of the year.
CBS 2 has obtained the letter sent home to parents describing the new safety protocols:

Dear Members of our Sandy Hook Family,Our district will be implementing a security system in all elementary schools as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure student safety. As usual, exterior doors will be locked during the day. Every visitor will be required to ring the doorbell at the front entrance and the office staff will use a visual monitoring system to allow entry. Visitors will still be required to report directly to the office and sign in. If our office staff does not recognize you, you will be required to show identification with a picture id. Please understand that with nearly 700 students and over 1000 parents representing 500 SHS families, most parents will be asked to show identification.Doors will be locked at approximately 9:30 a.m. Any student arriving after that time must be walked into the building and signed in at the office. Before that time our regular drop-off procedures will be in place. I encourage all parents to have their children come to school and return home on the bus and to remain in school for the entire school day. The beginning and ending of our school day are also important instructional times and therefore we want all our students to reap the benefits of full participation in our program.We need your help and cooperation for our system to work effectively. Our office staff is handling multiple tasks. Though they will work diligently to help you into the building as quickly as possible, there may be a short delay until someone can view you on the handset and allow you to come in electronically. There are times during the day when office personnel are on the telephone, addressing student concerns, or in the copy room; there are other times when only one person is in the front office. Please help our staff by identifying yourself and provide your child’s name.Keep in mind we will be following our district guidelines which may need revision once we test the system.Please know your involvement continues to be critical to our school’s effectiveness and your child’s success. We continue to encourage and value your presence in our classrooms and are counting on your cooperation with the implementation of this safety initiative.Sincerely,Mrs. Hochsprung

It is unclear how the shooter, reportedly armed with two semi-automatic handguns, gained access to the school or if he showed identification, or if he had entered prior to the 9:30 a.m. doors-locked mandate. It is also unclear how the shooter gained access to the school halls and classrooms.

I'm a little curious about the people linking to the alleged shooter's FB page. Why? I'd prefer he die anonymously, receiving none of the infamy he sought.

My feelings exactly, I so wish they weren't. This is a horrific tragedy
 
What is extremely disturbing (amidst all else that is horrible with this event) is that theere were parents rushing to that school being put in a positon that they were praying other kids were shot and not their own. I get it - but what a horrible psoiton to have ot be in. As a father of five, this event just punched the lungs out of me. Defenseless kids trapped in a building with a psychopath with guns. No one should have to witness this, let alone innocent children.

Nice thought but totally against human nature as I know it. I admit my curiosity is piqued as to who he is, what he's about and most important what he looks like. A face to a name for my memeory banks.

I have to admit, I did more than well up when I heard this story. Almost makes you feel like civilization has come to an end. And unfortunately some of the comments in this thread haven't made it any better.
 
So supposedly a parent of the shooter was found dead in their home and the mother was a kindergarten school teacher at the school. don't know if the mother was supposed to work that day or not. So maybe the nut was out to destroy his whole family.
