Anquan Boldin injury news thread (1 Viewer)

Not open for further replies.
Per TSN:

Oct. 13, 2007 - 10:36 a.m.

The Arizona Republic reports Boldin (hip) is probably healthy enough to play, but coach Ken Whisenhunt would like for Boldin to practice before returning to game action.

Fantasy Source spin: Since Boldin hasn't practiced all week, there's no reason to think he'll play this Sunday against Carolina.

From Sportsline: OUT

Anquan Boldin, WR ARI

News: According to a report in the Arizona Republic, Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin will miss a third straight game Sunday against Carolina because of injury. He has been dealing with a hip injury.

Here's the exact quote from the Arizona Republic this morning:

WR Larry Fitzgerald has put up big numbers the past two weeks without Anquan Boldin, catching 19 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown. Boldin likely is out again, and the Cardinals will need another big performance.

He's still listed as doubtful, not out.

Right underneath the quote above is listed this:

OT Levi Brown (ankle), out; WR Anquan Boldin (hip), doubtful; DE Joe Tafoya (hamstring), questionable.

You should use a safer alternative because Boldin has missed the past two weeks.

I don't understand where they are reading that. I have the Republic right in front of me, and nowhere in there does it say he is OUT. They say he will "probably miss his third consecutive game with a hip injury." They list him as doubtful. But he is not listed as out in the Arizona Republic.

everyone stop back at about 3:15 and get the real inactive list....some encouraging news is that I heard Boldin tell a reporter that he will definitely play vs. Wash.

He is close, let him sit this one and come back 100%

The thing is, this is more of a Bryant Johnson thread, than an Anquan Boldin thread.

no im pretty sure the large majority of the people reading this thread are here for news on Boldin. Hence the title of the thread.

Being listed as doubtful, Boldin is not a good start if he were to be announced as playing at the last minute. Kinda sketchy info all week, and would be an unlikely strange turn of events.

In a week a many byes, Bryant Johnson becomes a key fill-in player, only if Boldin is out.

Hence, I'm waiting on Boldin info on whether or not to start Bryant.

Even if Boldin is playing, I don't see how you start him with confidence.

According to nfl.com, Boldin is out

Arizona Cardinals

Inactives: G Brad Badger, WR Anquan Boldin, OT Levi Brown, FB Tim Castille, LB Brandon Johnson, DT Ross Kolodziej, DE Quentin Moses, DE Joe Tafoya.

Fantasy take: Bryant Johnson will start in the absence of Boldin and is a viable No. 3 or 4 receiver.

On local radio this morning, Mike Jurecki (a guy who had great relationships with the team, and truly is a Cardinals "insider"), stated that "Boldin's injury is a 10-12 week injury" and "the team is trying to get him back as soon as possible." He added that we should not expect him for the Washington game.

Note that he is not a doctor and is not affiliated with the team. But he really does know his stuff regarding the Cards. I just wanted to pass this along to you Boldin owners.

Boldin is expected to play this Sunday.Anquan Boldin-WR- Cardinals Oct. 15 - 3:24 pm et

Anquan Boldin is expected to return from his hip injury this week and play against the Redskins Sunday.

Boldin had the last three weeks to rest his hip problem. He'll return with Tim Rattay quarterbacking the Cardinals, which won't help his or Larry Fitzgerald's cause. Throw in the fact that the Redskins' secondary is playing at a very high level, and Boldin looks like no better than a risky WR2.

God I hate to do this.I'd swear I heard them saying Q was expected to be back this Sunday and speculating about how much that might help out Rattay. Tulumello ("I have no idea who that is") is reporting in the East Valley Trib that he worked out Sunday, felt good Monday, and expects to practice tomorrow, intending to play Sunday.

Im thinking that benching both Fitz/Boldin this week is the correct play.
I guess it depends on your backups but I find it hard to believe that benching either of these guys is ever the right play under any circumstance.
Just look at what the skins Pass D did to the Lions passing attack. I have Fitz and Im heavily leaning on pining him this week, especially with Rattay

Well you also have a lot of depth at wr so it wouldn't be a terrible move. I just think that these are 2 guys that you throw up against any secondary.

I have no issues with Rattay as the QB.

While the Cardinals may have some issues with winning with Rattay at the helm, Rattay was always very willing to go downfield and to his wide receivers. Unlike so many other lesser QBs who continualy dump, dump, dump and have issues with standing in there and going downfield. Rattays problems are going to be interceptions, as well as being a bit short at 6' for the NFL game (vision, throwing) and having little strength to escape contact from linemen.

60% accuracy.

28 TD.

23 Int.

6.8 per pass.

63 sacks.

A 5-15 record with some horrendous 49er teams and last years poor Tampa squad. He played parts in 6 other games.

As a Boldin or Fitz owner, I wouldnt be overly upset. It never helps to lose your top 2 QBs, but it could be much worse.

just dumped boldin for next years #1 overall draft pick... had enough
How do you assure yourself the #1 pick next year at the week 6 point? How can one have had enough of a wide receiver who was top 5 after three weeks, gets hurt and the team was nicely cautious with him to be fully healed. Cant handle injuries? Thrown in the towel on him now that he is healthy? This just doesnt make sense or add up.

many league parameters I care not to mention, however..there are many ways to play that.. first in the league i made this trade, picks are ranked from the year before's performance .. this gives a more tangible value to draft picks so that they are used for negotiations more frequently...

secondly, if i were to be giving away such a highly touted player, this move would assure me that my team would not perform well, thus getting me closer to the first pick,

my team actually sucks so bad, it was better to get something from it... then staying marginal 0-6 with the likes of sjackson, bulger, maroney, and heap.. have made this year physically painful for me...i am keeping t he others, the design of this league makes it easy to hold onto them.. (salary/contracts)

Im not taking the bait on most of that.

But if you are dumping your team because you are 0-6, thats a far cry then just a broadbrushing of dumping Boldin.

If Rattay does infact start this week over warner, I dont know what to think of Boldin or Fitzy future production. Rattay was very avg with far less talent in his 49ers stint. If Boldin is palying I cant see anyone benching him, hopefully he practices. In response to the poster saying Boldin suffered a 10 week injury, what type of injury was it? All I've been hearing has been a bruised hip....

10/16/07 12:19 PMTHE NEWSCardinal head coach Ken Whisenhunt expects injured wideout Anquan Boldin back at practice Wednesday, according to the East Valley Tribune. Boldin has missed the last three games because of the bum hip.Our ViewBoldin worked out before Sunday's game and reported no problems afterwards, so it looks like fantasy owners will be able to employ him this week. That will translate into fewer looks for Larry Fitzgerald, who has 353 yards over the last three weeks.

When Rattay played for the 9ers, who were his primary receivers? I believe Owens was gone by then or am I mistaken?

Tackle Levi Brown (ankle) was limited in his work, but receiver Anquan Boldin (hip) pretty much did everything. Sitting out practice were safety Aaron Francisco (knee), linebacker Karlos Dansby (knee), safety Adrian Wilson (hamstring) and receiver Sean Morey (concussion). Francisco and Dansby aren't expected to play Sunday. Wilson, I think, probably will be OK. Morey is a new injury -- one we hadn't heard -- and with fellow special-teamer Francisco out, the Cards need Morey in the game.

Did Warner try to practice with the brace on his left elbow?

Also in the blog link:Kurt Warner gave practice a shot today, although he was limited with his left elbow injury and, at this point, neither he, coach Ken Whisenhunt or anyone else on the Cardinals are sure if or how much he could play. It's too early in the process and frankly, it'll be surprising if it doesn't get decided until after the Cards get to Washington Friday night.

Every report I've heard on every radio station here indicates Warner is going to rest this week and Rattay will play in Washington. I'm not saying it's gospel. I'm just saying it's being reported that way.

And now there's an interview with Warner where he basically said he thinks he gives the team the best chance to win and he wants to play Sunday. As was posted earlier, this probably isn't going to be decided until closer to game time.
