Anthony Gonzalez (1 Viewer)

Yahoo says he's unlikely to play this week, but I can't verify that anywhere else. Anyone?
Anthony Gonzalez - WR - Colts Anthony Gonzalez (knee) missed practice again Thursday. Gonzalez is still in the evaluation stage, three days after sustaining a knee injury against the Texans. The Colts aren't disclosing details, but we wouldn't hesitate to drop him if a roster space is needed for a bye-week fill-in.Nov. 4 - 5:03 p.m. ET Source: Phil Wilson on Twitter

Patriots to host Anthony Gonzalez

March, 15, 2012

By Mike Reiss

The Patriots are scheduled to host free-agent receiver Anthony Gonzalez on a visit, the Boston Herald reports.

Gonzalez was a first-round draft choice of the Colts in 2007 (32nd overall) out of Ohio State. He has been limited to 11 games (5 receptions) over the last three seasons, primarily because of injuries.

When the 6-foot-0, 193-pound Gonzalez was coming out of the draft, he was viewed as one of the top slot receivers.

He played in 13 games in his first season with the Colts, totaling 37 receptions for 576 yards and 3 touchdowns. His best season came in 2008 when he played in all 16 games and had 57 catches for 664 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Gonzalez could be viewed by the team as a low-cost, low-risk fallback option at Wes Welker's position (given the unpredictable nature of contract talks). The Patriots also have Julian Edelman, who like Gonzalez had 37 receptions in his rookie season, at that position.

Gonzalez is represented by agent Neil Cornrich, and at the least, this reported visit helps Cornrich put his client on the NFL free-agent radar after three years in which his career has dipped. The Patriots and Cornrich have long had a good working relationship.

Gonzo was talented and clutch back in college. Ya he is low rent and big injury risk at this point but to completely ignore him or trash him is ignorant.

Lol at being called ignorant. Does anyone care what he did in college a hundred years ago? See how many fantasy points that is worth next season. I was pretty good in high school, maybe we should have a fantasy thread about me.

It is ignorant. Just like guys made fun of Cedric Benson after repeated failures or Thomas Jones or Brandon Lloyd. The talent is there, injuries have killed him. That doesn't mean he isn't worth a shot in deep dynasty leagues and to keep an eye on where he lands.

Good luck.

Clutch? The guy embarrassed himself in the BCS Title Game when OSU needed him to step up. There were plays to be made that he didn't make because he was hearing footsteps all game.

The Pats have at least some interest in Gonzalez. Don't know how much though . . . I believe they had him (or will be having him) in for a tryout.

per Mike Reiss, Pats reporter:Patriots announce the release of WR Anthony Gonzalez.
Too many folks that have carved out their spot already. Ocho might be getting a pink slip before long. Gonzalez needs to go to a team where the WR3/4/5 spots are still a mystery of sorts.
Like Miami.
I don't think it was an overload at the position that caused his release.Gonzalez is a hard working, BB type of guy.I'm more of the mindset that Gonzalez has lost a step or two, and simply doesn't have the talent to produce on the NFL stage any longer.

That implies he did at some point...this guy is SlyMo (you don't know the nickname because he was never around long enough to get one...real name is Sylvester Morris) of the late 2000s...I actually find it shocking people thought anything could come from this...he is literally "dead man walking', and unless he does a stint in a CFL/minor league, "Mr. Gonzalez, we nevah knew ya'"

We've been told Anthony Gonzalez was accepted into Stanford's MBA program and chose school over trying to make the Pats http://11w.rs/LEItTw
I believe he might have earned $5m-$6m off his rookie deal, late 1st round money 5 years ago...good for him. He can go to school, not worry about money right now, and get himself ready for the rest of his life.
