Antonio Gates: Ribs whats the story (1 Viewer)

Actually there saying he was limited in practice and that hes probably more ready to play than Matthews. So limited is different from full practice

“We list them as what they are,” said head coach Norv Turner. “Obviously Antonio played last week and he’s probably more ready to go play. Ryan ran around good today and is looking good, so we’ll just decide on Sunday what we’re going to do.”

Gates is dealing with a bruised rib suffered early in the second half vs. the Oakland Raiders. He went off the field for a handful of plays but was able to come back and make a couple more catches on the evening.

“There’s no real cure for it,” Gates said, describing the injury. ”From what I understand, all you can really do is put ice on it. It hurts and it’s difficult to play with at the same time. We’re going to try to make that decision on Sunday on whether or not I can go play.”

Gates is also frustrated to suffer the injury in Week 1 since he felt healthier entering this season than he had for a long time.

“I’ve been through a lot the past few years dealing with injuries. I was going so well, running well and feeling good, but it’s always difficult in this league because it’s just the nature of this business. It’s a tough league, a grind-out league, and unfortunately when you play games there’s a chance that you will be banged up after a game because of how physical guys are.”

In an effort to be able to go on Sunday, Gates was outfitted with a special type of padding to help ease the hits he is sure to take out on the field.

“We wanted to try different things to see what can cover it up,” he said. “With the ribs, you want to compress everything to stop it from expanding, so they tried this girdle shirt and we’ll try another wrap tomorrow and see how it feels. We’ll try different things and see what will give me the best chance to play.”

It is upsetting to see him already showing up on injury reports. I grabbed him in two leagues this year but was happy to trade him in one alreadt since this doesn't exactly bode well for his long-term outlook.

I can't believe the Chargers are going to give either guy tons of run this week if they're able to get a comfortable lead on the Titans. Then again they could be the reason the comfortable lead would exist in the first place.

As the official legal respresentation of The Question Mark - often, simply referred to as "?", my client (the aforementioned Mr. Mark) would like to know why the OP is so reluctant to use him as he is designed to be used. You will notice that the sentance I just typed is a statement. The title, subtitle and opening post of this thread are questions. In the subtitle, Mr. Mark was instead replaced by Mr. Point - Exclamation to be precise. My client is very disappointed. In fact he has informed me that he is considering contact the Union of Punctuation and Literacy. We don't want that, do we? Ah, see? There he is. I'll hang up and listen for my answer.

As a corallary to my original query, while The Colon is pleased with his usuage in the tile (and it's important to keep The Colon happy), his cousin, Semi (Semi Colon. Stay with me here), found the complete lack of participation following the word "Ribs" in the title to be some what disturbing. On behalf of the entire Colon family, I appreciate your cooperation in future punctuational matters.

The story is you shouldn't have drafted him b/c :

1) he's old and has lost a step

2) There's no one to take pressure off him (Vjax was nothing elite but wayyyy better than Meachem)

3) That injury doesn't go away

4) chargers offense is overrated

If you're stuck with him though I feel bad for you.

Literary Nazis? Dis iz da interweb, yo. Chillax.

And, regarding the actual topic of the thread, I can see Gates playing with a rib injury, but Rivers better keep the ball down. Gates isn't climbing a ladder on throws to make catches Sunday. If he did it would be sheer warrior stuff. Personally, I think not and I also think this takes him out of the SD endzone equation this week.

Urban dictionary has this definition for sentance. 1. sentance

The improper spelling of sentence by a high strung person, normally a Republican. :P

Spelling is a different division. Not my department. ;)

Relax junior. You got the responses you wanted - and lots of free bumps along the way (read the PSA in my sig). Besides, no one ever questioned your spelling.

He'll start, then head to the locker room in the 2Q, then come back out for the 3Q, but nt pay every series.

Classic Gates.

That's the fear with him, that he'll start and leave early after aggravating the injury and those of us who started him will get almost nothing. But if you sit him, you know he'll go off for 7-80-2. I am already kicking myself for getting him again and having to deal with this aggravation. :wall:
