Antsports closing? (1 Viewer)

Some guys in my keeper league said that Antsports is closing because of the new internet gambling laws. I can't get in contact with Steve and the Message boards are all down.

Does anyone know what is going on over there?

The Ants message boards are not down. At least not for the past week.

I do not beleive they are closing due to the new gambling laws. They are, however, losing a ton of business because of the poor customer service.

AntSports had a server problem Monday.I have moved the Message Board so the MB link now works.Automated Email from the website is currently down.Mock Drafts are being moved over to my main server.

So what is the deal with the internet gambling laws as it pertains to FF? Let me guess, some pissant lawyer who lost $50 in his yahoo redraft league because he didn't pay a little for a FBG subscription is claiming it should be considered gambling because it's a game of "chance".

It's been settled and the outcome was excellent for Fantasy Sports. There is still some work to do overall but it doesn't affect sites like Antsports at this point. The very watered down end of the story is Fantasy Sports aren't considered internet gambling.

I used to pour a lot of money into Antsports and was a message board regular over there. Things started happening, teams disappearing, players disappearing, lineups being made after the games started, etc. I always liked Steve's customer service and the fact that I could always call him at the 1-800 number. But it got to the point where I couldn't trust the site anymore and took my business elsewhere. Then I ended up following PirateMike over here, and never looked back.

Our priorities shifted away from survivor leagues last year, but I wasn't aware that the gravestones and crowns weren't showing up. They'll be back this year

and so far this year, the survivor's and draftmasters still aren't up. they've been 1 week away since april 30th. maybe survivor leagues have gotten old, but i enjoyed them.

The Online Gambling control act, or whatever it was called, that shut down the poker sites has a clause in it that specifically exempts fantasy sports and declares them "not gambling".

i won't be back next year. i commish a league & we've had it there for 3 years. we're moving to mfl. too many hiccups with simple issues. jeremy was always good to us but i think they're just in over their heads.

softball/videoguy505 - any links to this specific language in the statute?

this is the first that i've heard of a specific exclusion and would like to read it myself.

Thanks,

ETA: The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, Sec. 5362, (1)(E.)(ix) exempts fantasy sporting games with 3 conditions.
