Bought my nephew a kit for xmas since he loves building things. Bought myself one too so it would be something we could do together.

Been fun so far, but definitely having a hard time understanding exactly how it works. I can make things work and can google various codes and enter them, even make some modifications, but would love to understand it a bit better to know exactly what each line means.

Hmmm, I've been sitting on a $250 worth of gift cards for the past month and nothing yet has caught my interest, but this might be worth an indulgence.  Any thoughts on comparing and contrasting with Raspberry Pi? I get RaspPi is more a full-fledged computer, but I guess what I need to sort out is what sort projects would interest me most between the two platforms.  Don't necessarily need a response as I want to do my own exploring, but I'm all ears if you have anything to share.

I only stumbled upon arduino because I wanted to make my own NDIR CO2 meter. Then the more I looked into it, I thought of my nephew.

Obviously for a portable co2 meter the arduino is the better way to go because of power.

Do you know what you want to do with either unit?

Have no idea.  I'm split between spending my dough on a new hobbie, or riding a train down to New Orleans for a gluttonous weekend.  Leaning towards new hobbie, as I can glutton on the cheap in my abode.

Maybe approach it with entrepreneurial tendencies and create something worth replicating and selling.
