congrats on your deep sea fishing expedition...you should quit your job and become a charter boat captain
The absolute truth? I think it was a wasted draft pick. I felt that they needed an additional OL or DB instead of a new toy for Payton's offense. The fact that he didn't play week after week after week only intensified that feeling.I've seen too many first round WR's go the route of Koren Robinson and David Terrell, and I hated to see the Saints, so full of promise, fall into that trap.Wasn't fishing, but I was surprised to see so many Meachem defenders on board.

This must be a fishing trip. The guy started the season with an injury and whether or not he was on the active roster is irrelevant. Plenty of good WR's have had few catches their rookie year.

A pretty good one named Joe Horn had 4 catches total his first two years.

Toomer only had one catch his rookie year.

Driver only had three catches his rookie year.

Steve Smith (CAR) only had 10 catches his rookie year.

Santana Moss (1st round pick) only had 2 catches his rookie year.

Bo Jackson is easily the biggest bust of all-time and its not even close.

Tampa took him 1st overall and he never played a down for them, and they received no compensation when the Raiders drafted him the following year.

Also, both Bowe and Gonzalez were late to camp. Gonzo had the stupid Ohio State rule(graduating class) and Bowe didn't sign until training camp was all but over.

Meachum does look like a bust, but I wouldn't rule him out completely, however, there are about 7 or 8 2nd year WR's I'd rather have.

Is this stupid or what? Why isn't Brady Quinn's name mentioned then too? He didn't play until week 17. Just because you owned him and he hardly played....

Robert Meachem, last years first round pick of the Saints, didn't play a single minute on the active roster last year.Have there been any other first round picks in recent memory that never played a minute on a professional football team's active roster? Not due to inury, but simply because they were lazy like Meachem.I mean, Mandarich and Leaf were huge busts, but at least they logged some minutes as NFL players.
It was over for Meachem before he even got drafted.January 2007:Reporter: 'Are you declaring for the 2007 NFL Draft?'Meachem: 'I'm CASHING in'.Fell right off my dynasty draft board even though he went to N.O.

He was pretty highly thought of around here but a couple of people I respect were down on him and helped me choose Bowe over him in 2 dynasty leagues. But saying he'll never recover and be productive is silly after one year.

Dimitius Underwood.

Talk to me when a 1st rounder gets CUT and then is found walking the streets mumbling stuff naked.... "Multiple times during team meetings, Underwood was found not taking notes, but instead writing scripture about the apocalypse."

yeah, I'd probably put Underwood second to Jackson on the bust list.

Jackson stays first because he went 1st overall.

Meachum is different than Quinn because on any given play(especially on a team like the Saints) 5 WR can be on the field. Its not often 2 QB's are unless its some gimmick or a guy like Seneca Wallace.

I think we can all at least agree that Meachum is the biggest bust of the 2007 draft so far.

?? Very rarely do you see FIVE WRs on the field at one time. You might see FIVE RECEIVERS but usually there's one RB and at times one TE as well, LINED UP as receivers.Way too early to call a rookie the bestest bust ever.
