Tom Petty used to hang out next door to the house I grew up in.

Not while I was living there though.  By the time I moved in that house was bulldozed and rebuilt into something new.

Looking for a good restaurant or two, maybe a bar to check out. Nothing crazy… won’t have too much time outside of conference but have at least one night free

My aunt worked her whole adult life at the University of Florida. My cousins grew up in Gainesville, and they loved it there. One is still there, and the other is in Sarasota now.

Blackadder is a cool little kind of old school craft brewery.  Very good and unique beers with knowledgeable and friendly staff.

If you have a chance and like wildlife check out the La Chua Trail at Payne's Prairie Preserve State Park. You can walk out a trail that has literally 100's of gators lining the banks and in the water. Also, wild bison and horses roam among the gators.

First Magnitude Brewing Company is very close to the park.

We live an hour south of Gainesville and whenever I have visitors I bring them there to watch them freak out on all of the wild gators and then we kill some brewskies.
