Best went down at the end of the game and I have read he could have injured his wrist/arm. I have not been able to get any news on his status though. Anyone heard anything? Any Detroit fans?
Didn't he come back in and finish the game?Best went down at the end of the game and I have read he could have injured his wrist/arm. I have not been able to get any news on his status though. Anyone heard anything? Any Detroit fans?
Yeah he came back in. I heard the injury was when he dove for the pylon? I know he was in on plays after that so I think there is nothing to see here.Didn't he come back in and finish the game?Best went down at the end of the game and I have read he could have injured his wrist/arm. FYI,. I watched the game and he was favoring the wrist even while he was in the game, so I wouldn't say "nothing to see here" just yet.Yeah he came back in. Smith got hurt but checked out OK.I don't recall Best getting hurt. He was unimpressive with a whole lot of flash to get 3 yards, but clearly they're hoping he breaks one.
This is a bit misleading. He was met in the backfield on probably half of his carries. He looked the best he's looked since week 2, and much more explosive than prior weeks with the toe injury. I don;t know if they are using him correctly at this point. I think they try to get him in space on occasion but have yet to figure out the best way to do that. I think when he had a seam or a bit of space he hit it and made something happen. I think Bobby Layne said the same thing, that he looked better than past weeks. He just ran into a pretty good rush d this week.He was back in after the dive for the pylon, but I'm not sure if he was favoring his wrist or not. I'm sure something will come out Wednesday.Smith got hurt but checked out OK.

you thought "a whole lot of flash to get 3 yards but clearly they're hoping he breaks one" wasn't a fair assessment? Sorry I'm just surprised. I thought that was reasonable is all. What did he finish with stats wise? This is a bit misleading. He was met in the backfield on probably half of his carries. In watching the game, I would say he had no chance to gain any positive yardage on about half of his carries. I'm not questioning whether you watched the game, but maybe we saw things differently. He doesn't hit every hole, I will agree, but if he had a better run blocking line, I would imagine he would do much, much better. They just don't open up holes consistently enough for almost any RB to thrive. For me, it's hard to measure a guy's confidence while sitting eating a bowl of chili on my couch. I would say that he did about as well as he could have given the way the Jets were filling gaps and in the backfield. Maybe we just see things differently, as I said before.you thought "a whole lot of flash to get 3 yards but clearly they're hoping he breaks one" wasn't a fair assessment? Sorry I'm just surprised. To me he looks like he has the ability to be more like Chris Johnson but ran very much like Chris Henry. Henry was quite fast and drafted the year before CJ, but just sorta ran dopey-missed holes, ran right into tackles or had this lame-duck stance.
No one other than ol' Barry looks good getting hit in the backfield, that's not Best's fault but he doesn't run confident to me. I wouldn't be surprised if he breaks one run and plays far better after that point. Kudos to the Jets D if you think they took away his confidence.
Will agree with this. I think they try to get him going on some screens, but I rarely see another attempt other than a swing pass or two. He's getting receptions more due to checkdowns than actual scripted plays, so I wonder if they try and do that more moving forward. The guy is great in space, no doubt.just looked, a dead even 3 yards per carry. And with that speed there's no way he should be averaging 3.22 yards with 107 carries. They gotta get him going somehow. Throw some screens and get him against a CB up the sideline, do something.
I hear ya. If not confidence, not sure what you'd call it. Kevin Smith and even Felton average more than him and boy he sure seems to have twice as much speed and three times as much wiggle as those guys. If CJ or Charles runs thru the line, they are at the LOS "like that" and there's a command to it. I'm here I'm running right at ya, try and catch me. He seemed timid to me.In watching the game, I would say he had no chance to gain any positive yardage on about half of his carries. I saw the play and agree with ScottyDog's assessment. I thought he looked hurt as well. Guess we will need to wait on news. Thanks for everyone's comments though.Ya, I saw him get hurt. It was on the play at the Jet's 2 YD when Best ran a sweep to the left and was tackled in the end zone. (The play actually became a NO PLAY because the Jets called a TO before the snap. It looked bad to me as Best immediately grabbed it wrist and started doing that "funky chicken" that players do when they have just sustained an injury. I thought for sure he broke it. I was surprised to see him back in the game later.

It's also possible (and the Lions didn't confirm this either) that he might not be shut down for a couple weeks.Got this from Yahoo.RB Jahvid Best continues to struggle. A turf toe injury is limiting his mobility, and on Sunday he appeared to injure his hand or wrist. It is possible, though the Lions would not confirm, he may be shut down for a couple of weeks. (Yahoo! Sports)
That's some stinky bait. Best has been playing hurt nearly the whole year. Looks pretty tough to me.Another wussy like Stafford and Ryan Matthews..
You wanna take this outside? Keep your negativity out of here.I have a bad feeling about this.![]()
I saw this yesterday, and would agree. I think with Stafford and Hill out, and the way the Bills give up yards on the ground, we might see a very big day from Best if he is healthy.Rotoworld's take is definitely rosier
Jahvid Best-RB- Lions Nov. 7 - 5:29 pm et
Jahvid Best ran for 48 yards on 16 carries and caught five passes for 40 yards in the Lions' Week 9 loss to the Jets.
The numbers don't look great, but it was a promising effort against a Jets defense that defends the run as anyone in the league behind the Steelers. All of Best's 48 rushing yards came on his final 11 carries (respectable 4.4 YPC considering the opponent), and he looked as fast as ever on swings and screen passes out of the backfield. He also dominated touches (21 to Kevin Smith's 6) a week after playing in a committee with Smith. Matthew Stafford's potential loss won't help, but the arrow is pointing up for Best in the season's second half.
When I first saw it happen I thought for sure Best broke his wrist or arm, he seemed to be in extreme pain. Have not heard too much about it as of yet. Schwartz is pretty tight lipped about injuries and is probably very upset that the Lions lost Stafford again. I am going to keep an eye on this one. Kevin Smith could be a nice WW addition this week.FYI,. Exactly. They had absolutely no basis for the "couple of weeks" comment. But it's not just Yahoo. Both CBS and Yahoo pick up player news feeds from some other (crappy) third-party source, because I often see the same exact thing reported on the CBS website, including typos and other errors.Yahoo is adding stupid stuff based on nothing.
He also had a pass out of the back field where he had a step on linebacker that Stafford just missed him. That might have gone for a score if he would have caught it.Rotoworld's take is definitely rosier

Yeah I think he alligator armed that one. Bart Scott didn't have a prayer on that one.Yeah, he was streaking down for a TD on that play. They missed on that hook up by inches.

It did involve Best and his dive for the pylon. If you read the post above yours, he seems like he is fine via his tweet.not wading thru the Shark Pool mess, I am pretty sure the play in question involved Kevin Smith, not Best.
As a new Best owner,I hope Shaun Hill comes back soon, and I was also releaved to see Smith not getting as many touches as he did in week 8
