Any Problem With Ellen Degeneres Sitting / Laughing With GW Bush? (1 Viewer)

I can't believe the mods have left this stand.  Dirtiest thing ever written on this board.
To be fair - I am a closet cheesehead.

I am currently banned from Lambeau - as the last three times I went, the Packers lost.  But, I hope to get the ban overturned at some point (though, sadly, it might take a death in the family to make it happen...)

But he's not the President right now, so why can't she sit next to him and talk?  Is she suppose to continue ripping him now or is she suppose to shun him forever because she didn't agree with him when he was President.  Sounds childish.
Keep this same energy after Trump gets out of office.

yes George W. Bush is dripping with Iraqi blood but remember he also proposed a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and never apologized and LGBT Champion Ellen doesn't even give a #### because politics is a purely aesthetic game to rich people

This kind of thinking is just ridiculous.

I can't believe people are chalking this up as a simple 'disagreement'.  The guy killed hundreds of thousands of people.  That's a lot bigger than minor political differences.

Here's a thought experiment: what would your opinion of him be if it was your relative that was tortured in a USA blacksite?  What if it was your kid that came home in a bodybag, or forever scarred by PTSD, for a war based on flatout lies?  What if it was your child that was born disfigured because of radioactive material in Fallujah?  What would your opinion of him be then?

Would you think he was your friend?  Would you see his friendship with Ellen as a restoration of hope and dignity?  It seems like people are so averse to considering the unreal damage inflicted on other people as if it happened to themselves.

George Bush is a war criminal.  He should have been tried for war crimes.  He should be remembered as a massmurderer, not our personal buddy or something.  People like to bag on religious folks for having tunnel vision or whatever, but I think this is the real religion- unquestioning reverence for politicians that ruin millions of people's lives.

I'd love nothing more than to see him as a humble old man, just painting pictures in his old age as he reflects on his life.  Sometimes I get the impression he feels guilt for what he did.  But to act like this is just a matter of decency, rather than blatant disrespect for the millions of lives he ruined, is to wipe away their existence.  It normalizes his massive crimes against humanity.  Just disappeared like it never even happened.

@ren hoek If you noticed most conversation avoids the main point about him being a war criminal and giving the go ahead to kill millions in the ME. All I've been reading about in here is about "political differences". They're just glossing the worst stuff over. It's nothing unusual.

For two pages or so, this thread reminded me of why FBG is such a relatively pleasant place to hang out.  Then page 3 happened.

Look, I get it- you want to pretend death & destruction in the middle east doesn't matter and listen to Morning Joe tell you America is the Good Guys.  I used to, too.  Just put me on ignore and be done with it.

You had better be there this Sunday, then.

It's funny. The right don't have a problem with Bush sitting with Ellen. The left are losing their minds over it. Let's guess which party is more tolerant.

When Bush was President the majority of the electorate opposed gay marriage. Even Obama changed during Presidency his views on gay marriage
