Any resolutions/goals for 2017? (1 Viewer)

Damn...2017!

What's your plan for the new year?

I had my best year in voiceovers yet, doubled my earnings from 2015. My goal is to phase out my freelance corporate audio-visual work by the end of the year and be almost 100% VO work. I'll do some AV jobs that I like and with people I like working with but to be able to limit it to that would be great. Hopefully get an agent and join SAG/AFTRA.

My wife is a neat freak but I've finally gotten her to allow me to assume control of the cooking. She's finally realized the cleanup is worth the good meals. I'm still a by-the-book type of cook but I've gotten better and am looking forward to kicking it up a notch this year and be able to throw things together better.

I want to really improve my photography.

With hopefully going full time voiceovers we can finally get a dog or 2. Planning on a French Bulldog and maybe rescue an older boxer.

How about you?

My resolution is to be a better FBG and try to get along with everyone on here

and ultimately spin that in to being a better person in my real life

Not an exciting one here. I've been in really good shape for the last decade or so but with a newborn and a toddler things have gotten a little out of hand the last 6 months or so. Jan 1st I'm getting started on straightening that back out.

Where could we hear a sample of your voiceover work?

This is going to come across as sounding very generic and lame--but I'm actually going to follow through on it.  The last several years--I've been a workaholic. I've sacrificed a lot of my personal time and relationships for work.  I've given up on a lot of things that I love doing (hoopin, religiously working out)--and I've decided that I shouldn't lose myself in work.    The funny thing is that I feel like that once I do go back to investing in myself--that I'll end up being more energized and efficient at work--to where I could still perform to a very high level even with scaling back a bit.

Not hard to find out but I don't want to make it easy for worlds to collide.
Not trying to pry. I've just always been curious about voiceover work after I saw a profile years ago (on 60 Minutes I think) about the guy that was doing all of the major film trailer voiceover work and his voice was instantly recognizable. I think he has since passed away iirc. All the best in 2017.

ETA- jamny knew who I was talking about!

I'd also like to get a basic knowledge about painting. I've done like 15 paintings so far but it's all just random ####. My wife is a pretty harsh critic but she actually likes a couple of them and we even have one of them framed. I need something to get a foundation instead of just splashing paint on a canvas. Although I do like doing that.

Quit smoking. It sucks, everything stinks - spend $130 on a sweater only to have it stink after one use? been bothering me for awhile. I'm mid 30's and single with a great job. Date mostly 20 something's and I'm learning that my nasty smoking is a huge turn off for the younger ladies. Not that it's a "turn on" for anyone ... but girls in my age bracket seem to tolerate it but more.

Party nights. Whiskey all night, leads to the nose candy - which more times than not, leads to a hot little thing searching for her panties in the morning - awesome nights for sure - but it also turns into 3 day hangovers and constant "sinus issues" I'm ready to move on to something more meaningful. Strippers and party favors will be hard to quit though

I'd also like to start giving back. Soup kitchen, or big brother type thing. I'd like to stop worrying about the stupid shizz that happens in my life, care more about people with real problems.

quit cigs

tone down hard party nights

meet wife material

be a better guy

happy 2017 to all of you FBG's

... long time lurker here, looking to slowely intigrate myself into your fake world.

Posting moar, I guess that could be another - still trying to figure out where I fit in with you savages though ?

I focused on taking more time off in 2016 and I had by far my best year ever work wise.  Spent all day today planning even more time off in 2017. I've worked way too much the past 40 years.

I would like to take steps to improve my memory in the coming year. Also, I think I may try psychedelics, and possibly MDMA.

I'm giving up booze for the month of January.  I'm going to work hard on becoming a better father and husband.  I'm going to look to eliminate Diet Coke and coffee from my diet.  I'm going to do an open mic night at a comedy club, always been something I've wanted to do and I feel I have some good material so I just need to commit to practicing and doing it.

My goal is to only use 1 role of TP a month.  I sometimes slack on my fiber choice during the holidays and the rainforest suffers because of it.

Yep typical resolution.  Lose this 20 to 30 lbs i keep on, and get better shape.

For me it's mostly diet so I am trying to stop soda completely. I have one every couple days now.

I am not looking into running marathons or lifting the weight I used too in college.

Probably get back to yoga or something

Put on a lot of weight due to stress this year. Pants are tight. Have to lose 20lbs by my son's communion party in may and then another 10-20 by my brothers wedding in November.

Get promoted.

I'm going to be a fundamentally different person in 2017; all of my conditioned values and life experiences that have shaped me into what I am will somehow no longer apply. I'm going to be much more enlightened and well-read, and I'm going to devote my life to charitable causes. I really hate jazz now, but by this time tomorrow? Oh man. It's going to be awesome.

We hope to cut down on our wine consumption. It's up to like 12 bottles a week. That's probably not good.

Let me know how that goes McG, MOP is right beside you.

Run a marathon.

Take a few couples trips with our best friends to states that allow recreational marijuana use.

Make more money.

That should cover it.
