Any Ricky Williams news? (1 Viewer)

Considering Goodell's handling to date, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ricky on the field this year, or ever again. Further, I think Ricky has left too much doubt that he's in compliance with the NFL's rehab plan.

From KFFL back in May:

Dolphins | Williams tests positive for marijuana

Fri, 11 May 2007 08:43:17 -0700

Chris Mortensen, of ESPN.com, reports Miami Dolphins RB Ricky Williams tested positive for marijuana in April and will not be allowed to apply for reinstatement to the National Football League until September, according to sources. The league's medical advisers that oversee Williams' rehabilitation program recently notified commissioner Roger Goodell of the positive test and made the recommendation that Williams not be allowed to apply for reinstatement until September, sources added.

Is this guy even worth keeping in a dynasty league anymore?
Yes, IMO, given that if things don't pan out, he only burns a roster spot for about a month.
My plan exactly. If, by Septemberish, he isn't re-instated and found a team, then I'll drop him for a young player. W/ 22 man rosters I'll chance a team w/ RB issues taking a flier on him. To have the opportunity to roster a potential 1500 yard back for next to nothing is $. If it doesn't pan out, you should already have a couple on your radar to replace him and with a month of regular season gone, you can see enough of them to pick wisely and still have 3/4 of the season w/ the new guy.

The NFL is just plain ridiculous these days. "Rehabilitation" for smoking weed? LOL. The majority of us care about as much about Ricky toking up as we do any other entertainer.

Either he can still perform or he can't. The idea that he(or anybody else for that matter) is banned from the league for something as inconsequential as smoking dope is beyond absurd.

The owners need to reign in the idiot Godell. I suppose when enough stars making big bucks are on suspension, things will change. Or, perhaps it's business as usual in the NFL(selectively apply the rules on certain players and ignore what some others are doing).

I don't think the players get paid while on suspension. My guess is that the owners are quite happy with Goodell. The marijuana policy is absurd, but it predates Goodell.

But remember. The players know the rules. Seems their not smart enought to stay out of trouble. Can't really feel too sorry if they're that dumb. Besides, it's not like it's Ricky's first, second, third or even fourth time. Based on his actions, he's just not that interested in playing football in the NFL.
