Anybody buying on Demarco Murray? (1 Viewer)

477 total yards, 3 tds in last 4 games. Time to stop whining about Murray.
Yeah, the split of the first four games to the last is pretty telling.

First four games:

- 29 rushes

- 47 rushing yards (11.75 rush yards per game)

- 1.62 yards per carry

- 1 rush TD

- 11 receptions

- 76 REC yards (19 REC yards per game)

Last four games:

- 77 carries

- 343 rushing yards (87.75 rush yards per game)

- 4.45 yards per carry

- 3 rush TDs

- 18 receptions

- 134 yards (33.5 REC yards per game)

Murray called a ##### by some unknown player.

One anonymous Eagles player has questioned the effort of DeMarco Murray.
At the end of a short-yardage run against the Dolphins last week, Murray had an opportunity to run over or around 185-pound CB Brice McCain. Instead of finishing his run, Murray slid at McCain's feet. "Well, when you see DeMarco sliding before getting hit, you tell me. Was that giving full effort?" said the anonymous Eagles player. "You see that [expletive] and it makes you wonder." It comes on the heels of Sunday's argument between Mark Sanchez and Darren Sproles, who were seen bickering after a screen pass was intercepted. The Philly Inquirer counted "at least a dozen missed tackles" by Eagles players as Doug Martin ran for 235 yards in Week 11. Dating back to last season, the Eagles have lost nine of their last 14 games.

Be leery of quotes by unnamed players. Usually BS
yeah. But its true, he is a #####
After his slow start, he hasn't been playing that badly. Certainly not worth the contract they're paying him, but he's the least of their worries. He averaged 5 yards per carry yesterday, plus had 4 catches for 27 yards. My point is, I highly doubt a player said those things about him. Murray is one of the few guys who looks like he's p1ssed off about things.

nah, disagree. He looks to me like he's just about done with this season, mentally. I don't see a guy fighting for extra yards or looking for contact. One man's opinion, and I get the reason for his frustration, but he looks like a ##### to me.

To help you guys judge Murray's value, I was able to unload him after his great month run and with Mathews out of the picture (for now). In a keeper league where it will be costly for me to keep Murray for a 4th year (hence my trading partner is most likely only going to rent him for 6 more games and will need to unload him to another needy team next season), I traded Murray away to a contender who is about to go 11-0 this season and is starting Antonio Andrews as their RB2, their only weakness in the lineup. He has ODB/Julio/Fitz/Evans/Landry in a start3 WR no flex league so he has had to pick 3 of those 5 each week, really deep at WR. Anyway nobody wanted to trade to help the 10-0 team get better so I ended up getting Evans with a cheap contract for the next 3 years. Happy as he will upgrade my WR3 from Rishard Matthews this year and be a cheap keeper next year. Trade went through Friday night 7 minutes before deadline and he was pushing Landry or Fitz at me so I know he didn't want to trade Evans but he is essentially in the playoffs already and wanted to improve his lineup for playoffs.

Of course I was super deep at RB but after trading Murray I am quite thin again as I lost Sharc this weekend. Hoping McCoy survives the night or its might be Tevin Coleman and Rawls for me next week regardless if they are starting or not.

So does Murray get the fire in his belly lit for this Thanksgiving day game since one of his teammates called him a #####? Could really use a vintage 2014 Murray this week.

Kelly really is insane, its not stubbornness, it is insanity. The Eagles seem like they are on the path to get throttled every single game and 90% of his runs are sweeps that go nowhere. Going with my waiver darling Buck Allen even tho his schedule is equally as brutal. I want no part of the Eagles.

DET has clamped down on the run since the coaching change/coming out of their bye. They held Starks to 15/42 and L. Murray to 13/28 so I wouldn't read too much into his performance. It's true though, the play calling for Murray has been some of the dumbest #### I've seen in a while. Why Chip is making a dude whose better served grinding out yards in between the tackles run 20 yards horizontally every play is beyond me. The thing is PHI's playoff schedule isn't incredibly daunting so I'm not ready to auto sit him given the volume. I have options and will continue to weigh them moving forward.

Stick a fork in him, i somehow clinched despite him. Sticking with Buck over this guy regardless of match up. Its done.

Kenjon Barner being trusted to ice the game. That may change back next week but he does look like a guy who got paid and is mailing it in. A shame really.

Yeah man, I mean look--I'm gkad Chip finally pulled his head out of his ### and used other RBs more but do you really think Murray is becoming a malcontent?

What a mess. It's really telling that with the most important down in the game they gave the ball to Barner. Shocked.

DeMarco Murray played just 14 snaps Sunday

DeMarco Murray played just 14-of-61 snaps Week 13 against the Patriots.

Preseason gathering Packers and Eagles seemed like a good idea. Not so much.

This is reminiscent of what happened to Lacy. At least the Pack gave the signal the night before of activating Crockett, this was completely out of nowhere.

(Happy to see Sproles get a full load though, he's a great RB).

TLDR; Eagles fan who bought Murray heavily, he's not going to rebound in my opinion.

I bought Murray heavily this season and it hasn't turned out well. Also - I'm an Eagles homer, so I've seen a ton of games.

Murray has looked like the 4th best running back on the team this year. They haven't helped by using him on a lot of sweeps and passes to the flat. They need to use him in the I Formation and get him running North and South - and they've done that at times, but even when he does that, he hasn't been explosive hitting the hole.

There was a point in the Dolphins game when he decided to slide after a first down instead of trying to gain more yards or make contact with a defensive back. At a time when people thought the team was starting to quit on Chip, Murray is probably the guy who everyone thinks quit at that point and probably still has quit.

The only way he's going to continue getting carries is if he gets carries to justify his contract. He's looked like the worst running back on the roster, and it's probably too late to sell Murray, but I highly doubt he will rebound. I expect Barner to start overtaking him for carries and if Ryan Mathews ever gets through the concussion protocol, he will definitely get more touches than Murray.

Anyone know what his cap hit would be if they moved on from him next year? Maybe just a bad fit, and possibly salvageable in the right situation (like Dallas?).

I have him handcuffed with Mathews and have the luxury of not caring about next week. I'm hoping Mathews can clear protocol and take over lead back duty. I have zero faith in Murray nor would I even debate starting him when it mattered at this point.

Murray carried me to a runner-up finish last year, and I thought I was prepped for another run with him and Ingram. Even picked up Gio mid-season to give me a 3rd option.

Started Rawls and Draughn yesterday. Murray's not seeing the light of day ROS for me.

Rolling him out this week for wildcard round. Hope he hits again.
Eagle homer here. According to Chip, they gave him less carries because NE has "huge" linebackers so they featured the shifter Sproles and Barner. Personally, I think Chip is full of shizza saying that. So, you're a real gambler playing him especially if Mathews gets cleared. OTOH maybe a Bills homer can tell us how big their LBs are. I have him in three ppr. Doubt I use him.

That was a hell of a win by Kelly, HELL of a win. It's possible that he knew he had to shake something up, try something different. There are just certain kinds of players that seem to succeed in his system. It's not always clear to Kelly who those players are.

Seems like a waste of a signing.
Completely. But Chip's hopefully learning from his mistakes.
I hope so too. But honestly man, Chip had to presumably study a TON of film on Murray in addition to facing him what...4 times? How could you blow assessing his strengths and weaknesses and then put him In scheme destined to fail? I'll never understand it.
Like I said, he was making moves before and still coming out 10-6. He figured he could do no wrong. Now he's learning to adjust to adversity.

Anyone have the balls to start him? I think Chip the coach is finally making moves to fix the mistakes that Chip the GM made. He is just not effective in this lineup-Sproles and even Barner made this offense look 100% better last week. Now with Mathews coming back (he's practiced fully this week) I am not feeling confident with anyone. I don't own Murray but I have Sproles and was considering starting him this week. The Mathews news has me skeptical though.

I own both and am planning on starting Sproles over Murray. Dodds is the only guy I know who goes along with this per fantasypros ratings.

The thing is nobody knows what is going to happen from week to week. I could totally see Murray getting 20 carries for 140 yards this week. We just don't know when it's going to happen. Or conversely catching eight balls or something like that

All the more reason to bench him.

He's a boom bust player, maybe THE boom/bust player this season for the playoffs. Last time he had an 8 carry game, Kelly gave him 27 touches the next game.

I tend to disagree. He hasn't scored fantasy points, but this is eerily like the week prior to the 25 point explosion in Week 5.

I think he bounces back this week. I put in a claim for Tim Hightower, if I get him, I'm still not sure I can sit Murray down. He had a bad week, he's still a high end RB2 based on average PPG.

Idk, local reports are talking about how bad an influence he is in the locker room right now. After the game Sunday, guys were coming out of the locker room happy and joking around with each other. Murray came out with no smile, his headphones on and kept his head down while he blew past everyone.

He then goes to Lurie behind Chips back to complain about his role in the offense. This could go one of two ways. Chip gives him carries cause he squeaky wheel gets the grease or hr sits him more out of spite for going to the owner over his head.

Ross Tucker called him an "angry, brooding dude." And after Chip's presser, it's clear he really did talk to Lurie but the team is trying to do damage control. I agree with Insein, it could go one of two ways but no way am I rolling him out there this week.

They won't give Mathews too much work though to ease him back. Be interested to see if Barner is active. Can't imagine that all four would be....
