Anybody else have no faith in AJ Green in week 15? (1 Viewer)

I just don’t think I can bring myself to play him this week vs the Vikings this week. The Bengals look like they are mailing it in and Green is facing a shutdown corner in Rhodes. Someone talk me off the cliff...I am seriously considering starting CJ Anderson or Mike Davis over Green

I get not being excited about AJ Green with the matchup, but Rhodes is not invincible. People were concerned about Marvin Jones going against him. That one ended with Marvin having a 6-109-2 day.

I can see if you're thinking about someone like a Funchess or an Alshon over him. But CJ Anderson and Mike Davis  :yucky:  I'm starting AJ Green easily over those two.

I have him and I'm going to start him but won't be shocked if he has a rough go. Yes it is a bad match up but I consider AJ an elite option that can go off against anyone.

Even in a great matchup Green is hit or miss. He’ll either put up 140 yes and 2 td’s or 3 catches for 36 yards...I don’t really consider him “elite"

It's been a down year for nearly every top WR taken in drafts this year other than Brown. Green hasn't lived up to expectations fully but neither has everyone else taken in the first round and Top 20 or so picks at the position with one exception. Despite that Green has hit double figures in every full game he's played this season except for one. He has at least five receptions in every full game except for three, at least 8 targets in every full game except three and no fewer than 6 in any full game.

Bottom line - he has as safe of a floor as any top WR. The matchup is not good on paper but as posted earlier Marvin Jones tore Rhodes up and Funchess scored last week and neither one of them is as talented as Green so it's not insurmountable. If you're looking for a Hail Mary sure benching Green could pay off. Tyrell Williams could go off again. Maybe this is the week DJax finally scores. But in terms of talent, target volume and PPR floor A.J. is pretty darn safe. 10-12 points seems like a lock barring injury or him going Mike Tyson again. Another catch or two more or 10 more yards and he gets to 15 points in PPR and that won't cost anybody this week. A touchdown makes him almost guaranteed to come through.

I get the matchup concerns but looking at everything it's impossible for me to consider sitting him. Plus I'd hate myself forever if I benched A.J. Green in Week 15 and he played like A.J. Green. If I'm gonna go out it's gonna be with my best guys. I can live with that.

Green seems to do better on road splits. Its a tough matchup. But the way the NFL has went this season, he probably goes off. Bengals lose badly at home to lowly Bears. So now they probably have a shootout with Vikes on the road.
