Anyone catching Calvin Johnson on ABC? (1 Viewer)

I'm on the west coast so I haven't been able to see him live until now, and I have to say he's damn impressive. Very large and physical, looks fluid and quick, has speed and definitely knows how to get down the field after he makes a catch. He's also going out and grabbing the ball instead of letting it come to him which is a very nice thing to see. That touchdown catch early on was solid, too, showed some very nice vertical skills going up and taking the ball out of the air.

Everything I heard about him seems to be true. Looks like another potentially great reciever for the NFL. Not only that, but this entire game has been great so far. Hoping to see if Brady Quinn continues to adjust to the GT blitz in the second half, as he was in his last drive. He seemed to recognize it much better at that point and was checking down accordingly.

(sorry if this post is a bit out of place)

I have been waiting to see him this year.

Impressed! He will be drafted in rnd 1 in the NFL.

I'll be looking to draft him next year.

Whats impressive to me is he basically has another WR throwing him the ball (no pun intended). He would be scary good if he had a real QB tossin him the rock.

He's like Moss Squared - Santanas speed and Randys jump ball ability.

Saw him play my Clemson Tigers his Freshman year and won the game al by himself. He always keeps his eye on the ball... knows where it is and just goes for it... its as though the defenders arent even there becasue he just puts himself right where the ball is going to be. Of course being as big as he is makes it easy to do ;-)

He will more than likely be going top 5 of the NFL draft, especially with the weak Wide Receiving corps that came out this past year.

Imagine the numbers he would put up if GT had a quality QB.
he hung up over 90 of his 111 yards in the first half.... they just went away from him. WHo cares if there are 3 guys on him.

Santana Moss is faster than Randy?

Calvin Johnson is the most physically impressive Wide Receiver I have ever seen. He's bigger and faster than Larry Fitzgerald, with just as good hands and body control. It's just rediculous, he'll be a man among boys his whole career.

Very impressive looking receiver yes, but I found some of the numbers the announcers were throwing around VERY hard to believe.

6-5, 238lbs

will run under 4.4

48" vertical

The size I believe as he looked like a giant out there, but no way he comes close to that 40 time and vertical leap at the combine.

No way he comes close? VD ran a 4.38. His size doesn't mean he can't run. I'd say he's as fast as VD.Did you notice how Johnson was pulling away from DBs? He's very fast. He's no Teddy Ginn, but he'll run a 4.40 range at the combine.

Yeah, there were a couple of plays where he turned upfield and showed some high end speed. And I do think he's around 6'4 230, too. He's not a Tedd Ginn or Devin Hester, but he could still hit 4.40's easily. The vertical I can believe just watching some of the '05 highlights they ran during broadcast. He's a beast out there.

Brady Quinn looked very human, but I actually liked what he did. He recognized the blitz and pulled it in a bit, made good decisions and never really panicked. Turned into a game manager and stayed within himself. I liked Walker, too, simply because he was a horse in the second half.

And there you have your '07 NFL Draft triplet...

QB: Brady Quinn;

RB: Adrian Peterson;

WR: Calvin Johnson.

(Not to mention Lynch / MBush / Irons... Jarrett / Ginn / Rice / Samardzija)

Have a good [DYNASTY] rookie draft...

i still say Rice and Jarrett will have something to say about who is better.

and none of them possess Moss like speed.

pls put down the kool-aide.

I wonder if Johnson will come out in this next draft. I hope so, already acquired an extra 1st rounder in the rookie draft.

I think Walker is a good college RB, but I'm having trouble seeing him succeed in the NFL. He just doesn't seem to be able to accelerate the way I'd expect an NFL RB to. Maybe it's just a perception based on how he always picks his way slowly through the line. But I can't see him playing in a Kubiak or Shanahan system, for example.

That would be Moss' speed as well.

Looks like ND held him in check in the 2nd half (I didn't watch the 2nd half, just looked at game summary). Didn't he have all of his yds minus 16, and all of his TDs in the first half?

His O Cord held him in check. Awful coaching job by GTech IMO. I hate when coaches turtle up way to early.

He looks to be in the mold of Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald. Obviously faster than Larry. Definitely top 3 pick if he comes out.

Don't get too excited yet. He looks no better than Charles Rogers looked in college. Not saying he won't be a star, just that college is very different from the NFL.

He looks better, and he's a better specimen. He's also not a headcase.
Rogers was w little bit faster in college for sure, but four things Calvin has over Charles Rogers:1) much better hands

2) 2-3 inches in height

3) 30 pounds

4) great character with no off field issues

He will be a top 5 pick and should be a top 3 pick in most rookie drafts IMO...

Top 5 is high. Top 15 IMO

i'd be shocked ... litteraly if he runs faster then Larry.Calvin is a great WR prospect but speed he does not.
