Anyone else about to hate their Thanksgiving? (1 Viewer)

So I was supposed to work tonight at the hospital at 7pm, but got someone to work for me so I could "enjoy" my thanksgiving. I figure ya know, drink some beers, watch some football, and eat something that hopefully my wife cooked. Maybe go over my brother's for some more beer and football.

Turns out since my wife thought I was working she made some plans, and now that I have off, I apparently have to attend these plans with her.

Going to her brother's girlfriend's mother's house like 75 miles away from where we live.

First of all, pretty much the only one I like in my wife's family is her dad, and he won't be there. Why? Well, he isn't going because my wife's mom will be there, and they are divorced, and he pretty much hates her.

So between driving 75 miles to and fro, meaning very little beer while there, while not even sure football will be on TV (will work on that one the second I get there), going to someone's house I have never met who is the mother of someone I don't even like, to hang out with my wife's other family members I don't like (one of which is her sister who has an eating disorder so I have to sit and hear her excuses at the table as to why she is only mixing the food around on her plate rather than taking any bites of it)................................I shoulda just ####### went to work.
Fake a call from the hospital. The person covering from you has Ebola/the mumps/broke a leg. You have to go in - then once the wife is safely away, hang out with your friend from Tennessee watching some Football. HTH

This has legs

Coulda been worse. Watching the Detroit/Chicago game was non-existent though.

At least it was some 3600 square foot sweet ### house where the dude collects all kinds of stuff from signed original script pages from movies, old school nostalgic film reels, samari swords, chinese stars, and all kinds of other stuff.

I didnt even see a TV anywhere downstairs, but the upstairs man cave had a nice 70 incher, and by 4 o'clock I talked people into going up there. Between the keg, a bottle of fireball, and everyone trying their bet to get drunk, it turned out ok after a very awkward start.

Two hour drive home going about 30mph on the freeway was not fun though. Snow is stupid.

Hope the FiL is ok Jamny

See? If you'd have been a stick-in-the-mud putz about it, you'd have missed all that.
My confidence in the situation improved when the first thing i saw when i pulled into this castle like house was a guy out front frying a turkey drinking a busch lite.

Actually I had the best thanksgiving in years. Got to watch my kid play in the 38-6 trouncing of Burlington HS on Thanksgiving day. Had a bunch of friends over for Thanksgiving day dinner... Surrounded by beautiful Chinese women... My lovely wife did all the work, bless her heart... I did all the enjoying. Good times, good times.
