Anyone else disappointed with Netflix? (1 Viewer)

I think it's great for TV series and documentaries, but for movies, it kind of blows. Their movie selection sucks.

Meh.

I've noticed that. I was thrilled to get it back in the summer, as I was able to watch all of Breaking Bad before the final season began, but yeah, their movie selections definitely suck. It is also a bummer that they can't work out a deal with HBO to get their TV shows on there.

My Netflix queue is over 400 movies long. :bag:

I can always find a movie on there that I want to see. I have the "One disc at a time, limit 2 a month plan" for new movies.

Works for me.

After the playoffs, I might switch back to unlimited DVD's until the summer.

yeah unless there are multiple seasons of a show I want to get caught up on, we just cancel.

I am contemplating cancelling it. We rarely use it anymore not that we have Amazon prime on the IPAD's. The movie selection for kids is kind of meh nowadays and the movies for adults is even worse.

You sound like me. I do unlimited disks though. Maybe I shouldn't.

There hasn't been that many good new movies over the past few months. Now that the playoffs are here, Saturday night is set with football. Lots of shows come back in January and February. 2 DVD's a month is fine for us. We've been checking out other shows like The Fall and Lillyhammer and watching Louie over again. Plus, like the OP says, streaming is good for documentaries.

My DVD queue is like 100. Then they end up on HBO or streaming and I replace them. Maybe 2 a month is enough, although it wouldn't work with recent tv show seasons like Dexter that are 3-4 discs. I never thought of revisiting my plan though. Thanks for prompting me.

I couldn't agree more. Every time I think of a movie that I would like to see, from 20+ years ago mind you, it isn't available 90% of the time.

I agree their movie selection - particularly with classics - is very limited. I am finding Amazon Prime to be much better with overall selection.

Really? I just got prime and am finding them very much the same. I'm not liking their interface though, especially with tv shows/seasons. Is there any way to see what's exclusive to each service?

I find Prime to be better for older movies - I've ripped through the entire NetFlix library and came away pretty disappointed.

Agree that Prime interface is not as good - not sure to find out what is exclusive to each, but I'm sure others may know.

I think it is well worth the 9.99 or whatever we pay for it

Good documentaries, good to catch up on past series. (Lost, BB). My wife is hooked on Switched at Birth.

But the thing we enjoy is all the new cheesy horror flics. Some of them are actually pretty good--some really suck.

Movie selection is terrible!! We watched everything we were going to watch... After not using it for almost 6 months, I canceled in the summer... With football now over, maybe I'll come back.

thought the whole thing kinda sucked including the tv series. we got bored with it after 6 months or so. its not updated with new material nearly enough. went back to dish, hbo alone blows netflix away.

Netflix just unleashed a ton of new movies recently.

Jack Reacher is good.

Also...Spaceballs was just added.

It is fine. I also have Prime but I might add Hulu for access to more movies. It's still better than cable.
Hulu is good for current TV shows and that's about it. Their movie selection is nonexistent.
Recently signed up for my 1-month free Netflix trial and my 1-week free Hulu plus. Decided I'm not keeping Hulu because I see nothing on there that isn't on Netflix. Agree about the movie selection on Netflix - I was disappointed. Right now I'm just plowing through Breaking Bad (never watched before) and then I think I'm hitting Sons of Anarchy. Will re-evaluate after that.

I have found a number of good foreign films and TV shows I never would have known about without Netflix.

I don't have cable, so I am a fan. I pretty much watch tv as background noise, so paying 8.99 for their solid catalog of tv shows is worth it for me. Also a big fan of their documentaries.

The selection on Netflix in the US is terrible. The selection on Netflix in the UK, though? ####### AWESOME. So I change the DNS setting on my Apple TV and access Netflix UK whenever there's something I want to watch that's not available in the US. There's a plugin for Google Chrome that'll do the same thing if I want to watch something on my computer.

Is there a way to see the listing of stuff in UK without doing this?

Also how do i do this on Apple TV?

Ditto for iPad app. When I was in Italy I was disappointed my Netflix didn't work at night.

Worth it just for the TV series. Love watching them consecutively with no commercials.

I don't know why people are so anti-disc now... if there's a movie you want to see, just put it in your queue and it shows up in a day or two. If you have that much time on your hands that you need to watch a new movie/tv show every single night, then maybe you need to find more things to do in your life.

It's not necessarily about having something every night so much as it is that, when you find yourself in the mood for a certain type of movie/show like a comedy, you probably didn't know you'd be in that mood two days ago when you had a documentary about building dams in Patagonia sent to you.
