Anyone else interested in fantasy football beginning to track Pass Interference? (2 Viewers)

But functionally you're doing the same thing. Getting a 10 yard DPI call = a 10 yard catch. In football terms, it's exactly the same thing.

The much, much weirder thing is awarding points for simply making a catch. A reception is absolutely valueless in the NFL only yards (and TDs) matter. Simply catching a ball is not a positive play, it's catching a ball for positive yardage. A reception for -4 yards is a negative play, a catch for 0 yards is a worthless play as well. The value in a catch is in the yardage (or points) it generates on the field.

How is awarding points for DPI change fantasy when PPR is even further removed from football?
What is this obsession with making fantasy exactly the same as NFL?  If so then give points for wins, first downs, won challenges, neg points for facemasks, etc.

I like the idea.  I like rewarding what the value the player brings to their team.  This is why I don't like PPR (especially with so many bubble screens and flip (hand off forward) end around from the QB).  A guy gets a 30 yard interference call because he burned a DB and gets nothing for it.  if you are trying to reward receivers more this is a lot better than PPR.  Even if only one point.

WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO MORE IS GIVE A POINT FOR A 1ST DOWN RUN OR RECEPTION.

The idea of giving points for PI to a player like Marques Valdes-Scantling who has a sub 50% catch rate does make me feel nauseous.

I totally agree points for 1st downs is better than PPR as far as rewarding a player for something that actually impacts the game goes.

eta - It wouldnt surprise me if MVS has more PI yards than receiving yards but its Rodgers who should get credit for those not MVS.

I don't like this idea.  Sure, it is frustrating when you start a WR who draws a PI on a play where he likely catches the ball and gets a big gain, but that's part of the game.

Conversely, are you gonna to subtract points for a WR if they commit an offensive PI?

TD or bust, huh?

That sounds horrific.
LOL.  QB negative sack and INT scoring is the best superflex format.  It's dumb to have horrible but breathing QBs scoring more than actual good players.  Bortles and Jameis types need to be negatived for the bad plays.

Except when it’s because an OL got hurt and there’s a turnstile in front of the QB.

sounds ridiculous to penalize QBs for having an OL play badly. but hey, each to their own.

DPI yards count as receiving yards & passing yards.

Sack yards lost count against the QB just like rushing yards.

Intentional grounding counts as a sack for the defense and the QB.

Weird. They just mentioned this on FFNow in passing. Joking (but not really) that someone should figure out how to add that to the ESPN scoring.

I wanted to follow-up on this and I will start a new thread... Just straight forward getting at least a half a point for a 1st down is far more logical than giving anything for the act of catching a pass (especially with shovel and bubble screens).  Just reward the act of getting a 1st down which has value to a team.  Catching a pass by itself doesn't mean anything; a quick bubble screen that is tackled for a 2 yard loss should not give you positive points!

I guess in a PPR it would be nice to at least be awarded the points for a catch when the receiver draws a PI flag

If I can't look at a standard box score and figure out scoring I'm not interested.
This.  What a nightmare it would be trying to find out why player X has Y number of points when no mainstream site is going to show a list of how many PI yards every receiver got.
