Anyone else targeting LJ this week? (1 Viewer)

Been biding time until this week, LJ Owner (who also has D.Brees and L. Evans) and is not happy.

He has Betts and Thomas Jones as other RBs. He is struggling with a 1-4 start, so...

I offered Portis straight up. If he rejects, I will probably offer Portis/cotchery for Johnson/Evans or maybe Furrey..

So is anyone else targetting LJ this week and who are you offering?

offered benson straight up, but i don't think he'll accept but somehow i had to start the conversation .. maybe i gonna throw in s.moss or james jones if i get rejecetd - or just gamble and wait for another week as the owner starts to get nervous .. whatsoever i'm not in a hurry after a 5-0 start, only going for really good deals and no 50/50s .. so i may get sjax or #85 on a reasonable prize as both of their owners are having awful injury troubles on their roster ..

Offering Benson is a deal stopper right there. Good luck with an offer next week after he tears apart the Cincinatti 11 players on the other side of the field (Really are they a defense?). Prediction:LJ 130 yards, 2 TDS, 40 receiving and one LJ trade window closed.

Contemplating trading Adrian Peterson and Selvin Young for LJ and Jason Witten in a non-TE-required league (start Witten at WR). Thoughts?

I'd take Portis for LJ, if I didn't already own both LJ & Portis. I bet you'll get a bite.

I think LJ should tear up Cincy, but I am losing faith by the day. What if Cincy goes up 14-0 early? KC has been abondoning the run early & this game could look just like last week.

Agreed, anyone who owns LJ and would trade him the week prior to going up against Cinci which made Sammy Morris look like a pro bowl RB doesn't deserve to have him.LJ will tear up Cinci and drag defenders into the endzone with him. THEN if you want to trade LJ you should AFTER the big game.

:bye: This is where I go back and forth. On one hand, I'd trade for LJ because of the soft schedule on paper. On the other hand, I don't have faith in KCs line or QB play right now to ensure that the ground game won't be abandoned. ;)

I just got LJ today, but i may have paid high for him. I gave up Marvin Harrison and Sammy Morris. I got Harrison over the course of several trades which originated as my 5th round pick and sammy was a waiver pick.My team is in my sig, just add LJ, i think i'm set for a championship

Lots of low ball offers in here. I hope that you're not in leagues weak enough that would allow owners to pull those kind of trades. LJ is a top 5 back from here on out.

I have been buttering up the LJ owner for two weeks now (been eyeballing the trade since right after the draft ala JBs article) and his performance v Jax put the final nail in the coffin for him.

I made the deal yesterday.

Thanks in advance JB even if LJ sucks the rest of the way, your article resonated with me and I took every measure to make it happen. The strategy worked like a charm and I will never regret making the move, plus I got him for a song.

LJ owner is done at 1-4 with no hope of making the playoffs, i made an offer and he countered with this:

LJ + Brady + 2008 5th rounder and 2009 5th rounder

for

Julius Jones + Schaub + 2008 1st rounder and 2009 1st rounder

we're a 2-player keeper league, but in 2009 all players go back into the pool for a redraft (every 3 years). i wish i could counter for his 3rd rounders but he doesn't have them anymore. i'm thinking of doing this trade because of LJs soft schedule, but i am worried about croyle, the oline and the hermination factor. however, i am facing this opponent this week, so if i do the trade, it should be an easy victory to make me 5 - 1. LJ has a nice playoff schedule in weeks 15-17 (ten, det, nyj).

I'm considering trading S-Jax for him straight up. Am I crazy? I'm kind of built to win now, but my RB depth isn't getting it done with Jackson sidelined. PPR dynasty.

I've had 7 owners call me in my 12 team keeper league about him this week. All the LJ owners knew the first five weeks were gonna suck and all the interest in him this week shouldn't surprise someone who is on top of things. That said if you can get him, I would. I think he's top five from here on out.

Traded Portis for him straight up prior to LAST weeks game. Felt good about it.....and then this past weeks game happened.

Now I'm a bit nervous.

The LJ owner in my league is a big Penn St homer and surprisingly has a 4-1 record with the most pts in the league (thanks to Brady, Brown, & Watson). Therefore, he has already stated he's just gonna hold onto him. His team would be sick scary if LJ returns to form.

That's quite a reach to say Top 5. But I agree, some of these offers are low ball but most leagues have lots of gusy who live in the present. A couple weeks ago I traded Jason Witten for LJ and everyone claims I ripped him off, that me giving up my 10th round draft pick TE for LJ was robbery. Now after two more rock solid weeks of Witten playing at his level and LJ stinking up the joiint, all of a sudden my league is saying I got took. Making a move for LJ is smart to do RIGHT NOW after his stinker. Most guys only see his production, NOT his upcoming schedule. I've traded Witten for LJ and Alexander/Engram for Westbrook. This doesn't make my league "weak" that owners do trades like that. It means some guys get desperate, some guys "live in the present" and so on.

I just acquired LJ, here was the deal:

Griese/Kevin Jones/TO

for

Warner/LJ/Berrian

The owner already had Manning and Favre so Warner was nothing to him. He wanted a WR upgrade badly and was willing to give up LJ to get it.

I'd be careful about acquiring LJ and giving up anything of real significant value. Why? He has a true rookie QB starting now and the o-line hasn't shown anything. Sure, the schedule gets easier, but if you can't run block and teams consistently put eight in the box to make Croyle beat them, it will be a LOOONNNNGGG year for LJ, despite an occassional TD and 100 yard game.

Is it a fact that Croyle is the man now?

Offered Shawn Alexander staight up. I expect he'll ask for a little more but maybe he's as down on LJ as I am on SA.

He's starting this week for sure. I can't imagine why they'd go back to Huard. KC isn't a clear playoff team, and Huard has certainly not been impressive anyway.

Agreed he hasn't been good but they wanted Croyle to be the man and he failed miserably early in the season. It's hard to believe that Croyle was actually worse than Huard.

Not necessarily... If Huard can throw in practice today, then he is starting on Sunday... just read this on the Kansas City Star. sorry, link doesnt work, but per Herm: “We’ll go through our practice schedule like we always go. Brodie takes a lot of (snaps) that he’s always done. We’ll see where Damon is, and if he can go, and he feels good, then he’ll go.”

Well I just got LJ.

Sitting at 3-7 (Double headers)

It's time to take a chance.

FWP,Harrison,Gonzo for LJ,Plax,Crumlper

Plax was key to me in the deal, my WR and QB scoring is killing me, (Pickup Cambell , just missed warner on WW)

IF LJ does not pan out I sitll have AP to fall back on.

Nice thing is Edge and LJ have #1 and #3 softest schedules left for RB's. (AP's is not bad either, KJ is horrible but in .5 PPR he will be good)

It always seems like owners overvalue their own players in trade talks. I just picked up LJ for Chad Johnson and DeShaun Foster in a PPR system. We'll see how it turns out, but you gotta give something of value to get something of value.

I'm going to offer the Denver backfield (Henry and Young) for LJ tonight in a PPR league. The LJ owner is 1-4 right now, so we'll see if he bites . . .

I'm sitting at 4-1 in a 12 team PPR league, and I offerred the LJ owner (who is sitting at 2-3) Portis and his choice of Curry or Colston, which I thought was pretty fair, and he countered with Portis and FITZ <_<

That's too much, told him so, now I'm waiting to see if he counters, accepts original terms, or simply rejects it.

Just offered the Henry/Young combo for LJ. Sort of a "my headache for yours" deal. I doubt it's accepted, but worth a shot.

I'm not convinced it's the Shark-like thing to do. His O-line is GARBAGE! The passing game is GARBAGE! all teams have to do is worry about stopping LJ, and so far, they have.

I'm kind of interested to see the effect Croyle could have on LJ. While Brodie doesn't have the ability to manage the game as well as Huard, he can definitely make the deep passes Huard can't.

LJ is currently the 36th best RB on a per game basis. He has scored less points than no-names like Kenton Keith and DeShawn Wynn. But there is no guarantee that he turns this mess around. What you view as a low ball offer may actually be a fair offer from here on out. Allowing a trade like this says nothing about how "weak" a league is.
