I tried watching the original series and couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll like this one better.

Great effing show. I have Wallander's ring tone as my default. The cinematography, use of color, and acting are all excellent. Probably my favorite BBC drama.

I've seen every ep that PBS has shown (which means I may have missed some scenes due to PBS cuts) and really like it. Branagh's acting is unreal and the location in southern Sweden is fun. As was the last PBS-aired season when he went to Poland by ferry and to Riga. Of course, the show can be brutally violent and is rarely uplifting in the slightest way. But great writing, direction, and cast. I think PBS is showing more this summer: probably the ones you're watching on Netflix now if you're caught up.
