Anyone Ever Have a Photo Shoot in Their House? (1 Viewer)

A painter that we use suggested that a production company may be interested in using our house for a photo shoot.  They'd be in the house for 8-10 hours/day for 5-10 days and would pay $1,000/day.  He then comes in and re-paints the walls etc to their original condition or better.  He's worked with this company for years and said he's never seen a problem.  Anyone ever do this?  Obviously, I'd be concerned about theft, damage etc.

It's a great deal. Just have someone around to keep an eye on damage and document it. Just keep close to the location manager(they're responsible for fixing anything) and you'll be good to go.

Good idea.  I initially thought it would be better to be away on vacation while they did it but after thinking it through, I think you're right and someone should be in the house.

Research the company a little.  This isn't hard.  If they seem reputable, I wouldn't worry about having to watch them the entire time they are there at all.  Pick up a few nanny cams or whatever and go book a vacation.

Pay a couple hundred for a video security system.

Then you can go on vacation and if anything is missing, review the tapes.

I was guessing Chet had a housekeeper he could pay to hang out around the house keeping track of any potential issues. But generally these companies are very liberal with their reimbursement if they damage something. I've heard of shoots trampling a plant or two and the homeowners get a few grand to relandscape.

Yes, Mobile Home Living did a shoot at my trailer last fall.

The fixed the holes in the screens and even cleaned up the motor oil stains on my shag carpet.

Right.  National children's retailer.  Followed by a PSA about what to do when your neighbor gets her hand stuck in the garbage disposal.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :spittake:

Production guy:  It's not porn.  I swear.  It's a show for kids.

Chet:  What's it called?

Production guy:  It's an After School Special about a lemon-stealing whore.

Hey, if money's involved, who cares about giving up their house for a week for a por...National Children's Retailer shoot.  Plus you get paint!

I call that a win/win.

Anyone who has ever worked on a film shoot would never let a shoot happen in their own house. Unless it was for their own indie feature.

Go over the conversation in your head again carefully chet, this is important. Did they say paint the wall or soak the walls?

A no brainier for anyone except, well, somebody like Chet.

Is the $10,000 really worth it to you to  have a bunch strangers take over your house for a week and a half? Going through your #### and probably not as good at repainting as your original painter.

i'm sorry, did you say this was to shoot a child porn?

cuz I don't think that sounds like a good idea.

Yes.  It was a sitcom about a miner and his overweight waitress live-in.

It captured the lower-lower middle class sense of desperation and poor taste.

$75/day and they replaced the 2 tchotchkes they broke.  I will never understand how they found those replacements.

It was inconvienent but it bought our 2nd car.

Go for it. As someone who pays for photo and video shoots, we always offer over fair market value just to make sure we can get what we want. Paying a 20% premium on one place is way more efficient than ####### around with shopping a job and dealing with multiple offers to multiple places.

I had some dudes that worked for 50 Cent want to use my #2 crib to shoot a music video. I said no. Hell no. If I am going to use my place for something like that it's going to be my idea, my terms, and it's going to be a short-term rental to some rich tourists or something. My walls are pristine in the first place. No way am I letting some laborers track god knows what all over my carpet and wood floors.

If I do any kind of short term lease it's going to be with someone who will treat my house with as much respect as I do. No thanks dude. No way I would trust a freakin' painter to set me up with short-term lease candidates.

I wonder if anyone has ever recognized their own house when jerking it?  That would be weird.  Then you would want to tell someone, but couldn't.
