Anyone have a "Low Score Wins" League? (1 Viewer)

I would like to start a league where you have to play starters on teams, but the goal is to have the lowest score. So, if a player gets 0 points, you get penalized with 20 points or something.

Anyone ever done this, and is there a site where you could modify a guys points (or add penalty points)?

wat

I would have won my league this year if we played that way. :bag:

I have never had more underperformers on one team in my fantasy career.

this is kind of funny ... imagine it's week 8 and you are all bent out of shape b/c that castoff scrub QB Tyler Thigpen just threw for from 280 & 2 against the Jets to led you to defeat

YES! Think of the possibilities...you really have to know something to pickup some terrible WR or RB....a place where Cedric Benson and Jamarcus Russell are kings..except of course when Cedric Benson goes off with a 79yard catch and run and ruins your week!

I played in The Onion's fantasy football league that had a similar approach. They'd give you a certain group of players in each position with the goal of picking the biggest fantasy loser each week. It was pretty fun.

This is mildly-related to the topic. My friends and I used to have a bike race where the person to cross the finish line last was the winner. But if you fell off the bike, you're out. It's pretty hard to go slow and maintian your balance-- a skill in itself.

In that spirit, this type of game is intriguing. Just as we yell at the screen "Throw it to ____!" we would not say "No, no, don't look at that guy! Stop targeting him!"

what happens when a team doesnt name a starter for that week?
They get a penalty of x points. As the OP said, if your boy doesn't score ANY points you suffer a penalty...so you'd have to pick somebody that would get you SOME points but as few as possible. What happens if somebody gets you negative points? Let's say your rb fumbles the ball and goes out with an injury to start the game? Penalty or awesome score?I think this could be pretty fun.

Add 10 or 20 points to the team's score as a penalty...anytime the player gets 0 points. The only trick is having an online provider that would allow the commish to go and update (add) points for penalties to a team's score.

The (-) score would be sweet. That would be like getting a 4 TD game out of Brian Westbrook or something.

This would be sort of a "Biggest Loser" League....

If the whole point is to get the lowest score, why on earth would you penalize a player for getting 0? If he is listed as a starter and gets 0 then that is just a smart play. Maybe you could draw the line with injury, not allowing players that are a gametime decision or listed as questionable? Or allow them, but if they don't end up playing, THEN add the penalty if you started them. But to penalize a player that is actually in the game but just has a bad day defeats the purpose IMO.

I think 0 is the only way to be sure that a player that is hurt, out, etc. I think the goal is to shoot for the 1 catch for 6 yards guy...

So you'd get penalized for starting Vincent Jackson the other week when he played the entire game and caught 0 balls. I don't like it.How would you tie break a 0-0 game?? :boxing:

That would be easy....Go to bench points of course the loser errr winner would be the lowest scoring bench.

I played in a fantasy baseball league like this once. We called it the Mendoza league. Scoring system was setup so points were given for strikeouts and errors and points were taken away for homeruns, etc. Was a lot of fun.
