And it needs to start with a form factor change. If they roll out the iPhone 6 in the same body as the iPhone 5 and 5s, it won't matter what features they pack into it. They'll look like they haven't done anything new.iPhone6 needs to REALLY wow for Apple to stay in the game here.

Just a truth guy. Truth is that Apple was kicking the snot out of the android guys a few years ago. The reverse is probably true today. In the end I guess it's all good in that it forces them to try to be interesting, and gives us options.i heart anti apple otis....
I haven't got my new phone yet but Apple needs a larger phone with a better battery. The camera is second to the previous but as of now, the other phone makers are running laps around Apple. The other problem is when Apple does "wow" next year... the phone is going to be priced at $399 or some dumb large number. The Apple eco system is huge and I have no problem with it but something has to give.iPhone6 needs to REALLY wow for Apple to stay in the game here.
It's been a while since Apple kicked the snot out of Android..and I don't just mean in sales. Many of the things you rave about now have been around for years on Android. But yeah, I'm not into the Apple ecosystem anymore. Was fun while it lasted, but man is this better.
google changed google talk to hangouts it is basically a chat app. i think it just uses data .Questions about android, which I left after a year with an Evo.
1. Is there an app like iMessage? I use it all day on my Mac to chat with my wife while she is home with the kid. Is a lot more convenient then pulling out the phone to text.
2. Is there an app like iMessage that keeps me from getting dinged on SMS charges.
3. Is the native mail client any good? I have one exchange account and three gmail accounts (about to be four or five).
4. Does it work to use iTunes for managing music and loading it on to the phone?
5. Can you use iphoto to manage photos or am I going to have to learn Picassa or something new?
I use a lot of google services but I'm very used to the apple ecosystem for messages, photos, and music.
Are there any apps in android that are better/worse than apple? Do apps update over the air automatically? Can you backup/restore the entire phone easily? Can I have more than one google voice number on it?
That's a start.
The original iPhone was really the only top smart phone offering Apple ever had. Android phones almost immediately had superior devices. It's been a while since Apple kicked the snot out of Android..and I don't just mean in sales. Whatever makes you happy. I agree with Otis and switched from Apple a few weeks ago. Couldn't be happier with my Note 3.Can't do it. Went to the TMo store today because they had a Nexus 5 and a Note 3 to play with. SPent at least 20 minutes with each, including the rep (Note 3 owner) working with me on it. I certainly think both are fantastic phones. But the differences struck me more as being personal preference than Android being "better" than iOS. I am sure there are some things that users of Android would point to as superior and I wouldn't argue. I just didn't see the compelling reason to switch that I was hoping for.
Yup. It looks like a really nice device, but it just isn't for me.Whatever makes you happy. I agree with Otis and switched from Apple a few weeks ago. Couldn't be happier with my Note 3.Can't do it. I don't think your 20 minute test drive is enough to appreciate the difference. These guys who do the extended reviews of android phones over a week or longer on Engadget and elsewhere -- they do that for a reason. The first 24 hours or so with the Note were frustrating and a little disorienting. A few days later and I concede it's the best phone I've used. Can't do it. Editing is much easier on a bigger screen. You can get office on any phone now.
This has been around for years. Now Otis has found a new platform to plant his kiss of death. The reaching with the thumb concern isn't an issue, because Swype is probably the best thing that has happened to text entry since QWERTY.

I was playing with the 1520 yesterday & damn that is big. Loved the screen but can't imaging making a call on it never mind trying to fit it in my pocket. Really wish it was a little smaller. Rooting for windows phone to take hold.Went to the AT&T store to check the phone out. The three rows of tiles looks much better than the two. The interface was not difficult to handle. Different, yes, and like Otis, will take some time to get used to. The buttons on the side will take time getting used to. The width might be an issue for some or possibly just time getting used to it. The weight was negligible and the screen didn't seem "too big". Texting may be an issue if used in landscape form only because the phone is so long, a small thumb might not reach the middle keys. I want a good epub reader though because the one that was on the phone did not have spacing or paragraph indentations... so hopefully there is one that will do that.
The big sell for me as I tested this feature out is MS Office is on the phone and you can edit any of the files on the phone. The only difficulty will be the work arounds, button pushing... getting used to where things are so you can be speedy at doing edits and stuff like that. It might just be an awesome gadget.

The Moto X felt & looked really nice

Yeah, it will take some getting used to. I'm thinking about a Bluetooth headset though so I don't have to hold it up. Also, have to check the speakers out cause that might be the way to go when at home instead. The other idea is when I'm in the car I could use the car stereo to talk thus no holding up to my head while driving. Will have to see what might work best.HellToupee said:I was playing with the 1520 yesterday & damn that is big. I liked playing with the 1520 . I'm very interested in seeing how you like it in out & about carrying it in your pocket & your opinion of the camera.Yeah, it will take some getting used to. That's what I was thinking as well.I'm thinking about a Bluetooth headset though so I don't have to hold it up.
Size, battery, note has some extra apps.Anyone know the difference between the note 3 and the s4?
Also the Spen, and Note 3 is more powerful due to a more powerful processor (Snapdragon 800) and 3 GB's of RAM vs 2 GB for the S4.Size, battery, note has some extra apps.Anyone know the difference between the note 3 and the s4?
I had no problems running 7 on my 4 . On the other hand with my new 5S, ios7 is aggrivating me.My iphone 4 is starting to become more frustrating all of a sudden. I don't want to upgrade to ios 7 because I've heard it doesn't play nice with the 4. Now my app choices are becoming limited, as developers aren't making many apps backwards compatible with ios 6.
One more reason it looks like a Note is going on my Christmas list.
My kid runs 7 on a 4s, lives on it without complaint. She complains about Android (my phone/tablets) every time she touches them.HellToupee said:I had no problems running 7 on my 4 . I'm running ios 7 on the 4 and it's much slower than it was under ios 6. It works, but I wish I didn't upgrade.HellToupee said:I had no problems running 7 on my 4 . Wait for the S5 that is rumored to go on sale in 3 months, then let us all know how awesome it is.I might upgrade my phone to an S4 in a few months, but I will also consider downsizing if the right phone is out there.HellToupee said:I had no problems running 7 on my 4 . Just keep using it. It took me a couple weeks to fully adjust and find my way around and get my settings the way I wanted them. I wouldn't go back.Ok I just bought a new note 3. I'm a long time iPhone user? Still adjusting. Any tips on starting out in the android world?

I'd have agreed as to older iPhones, but my most recent iPhone5 with the latest software was a little buggy. Neither very badly, but minor bugs with each. My Note has actually been very reliable overall.shader said:Just keep using it. It took me a couple weeks to fully adjust and find my way around and get my settings the way I wanted them. One day in, seems more buggy than the iPhone. Other than that I like it so far, the screen is amazing.
