I only email pics and videos. Texting media began before data existed on cell phones, and it just won't go away. Do everyone a favor and email media. It's easier to save photos that way anyways.

I think I may have posted the link early in this thread. Maybe I didn't. I ended up doing Google searching and came across a long thread maybe at macforums or Apple support or something that detailed a way to fix this and I followed the steps and it worked.

My kid (19) cracked the screen on his new phone. He didn't like the case we bought him and was going to exchange it but didn't get around to it and paid the price.

We have insurance but the deductible is $199. Any ideas on who He can bring it to to get it repaired? Twin cities area if that helps.

Can do the same for large files with Dropbox or similar apps. Same deal, upload to Dropbox and send a link, and it can all be done quickly just using your phone.

Out of curiosity, what were the key reasons you decided to keep it?... just a few days ago it sounded more likely you would return it.

yeah. I was on the fence. I think the biggest thing for me is two things. One is the screen size. Even after a few days, it would be difficult to go back to the iPhone 4. The other is the seamless integration with Google. Whether it be docs, email, chrome, calendar or picassa/Google + I know I was able to do most of if not all on my iPhone, but it is easier on this phone. I think I said this before, but I don't have a Mac. I have been using Google for a long time and I like the direction they are going

At this point, the only thing I miss not using my iPhone is imessage and being able to send text videos.

There is a place at MOA that advertises screen repair while you shop. I remember seeing it while walking around the mall a couple weeks ago. I can't remember the name, but I think it was on the third floor.

Did you call them? I ended up having to call after doing everything in the book and they submitted a ticket that fixed it (hopefully)...can take up to 24hrs for fix to propagate.

I really don't like having to go back to old school voicemail where I call voicemail...I then have to listen to each and every voicemail in order...and I can't seem to slide fast forward or back, click to delete or be able to simply click which voicemail I want to hear.

That was a pretty tight little system iPhone had and I was sure most other phones would've incorporated that type of visual gui for voicemails.

Yeah, I don't think there is anyway around that.

Unless you port your number to Google Voice. There is currently a bit of a functionality trade off though for those who send MMS messages which is predicted to be a non-issue in the near future.

Finally made the switch about a week ago (I had been on iPhone 4). The Verizon people at our local BJ's had $50 off the $299 Note, but the day I went in they said the promotion changed to a $100 mail in rebate. The woman said she could still give me $25 off since she had a standard code that didn't require her to ask permission, so that worked for me. I added a new line on my plan for my daughter to use my old iphone, and I managed to be able to keep my old unlimited data plan switched over to the new phone, which was unexpected.

Overall loving the thing. The size definitely takes time to get used to, but I'll echo some previous owners by saying that when I pick up my old iphone, it just feels tiny.

The biggest annoyance at first was what has been mentioned about no visual voice mail. I must not have seen the last half of this page in this thread and wasn't ready for that. Paying verizon monthly for their visual voice mail was out of the question after being used to the iphone's standard. But I got Google Voice set up in a way that pretty much gives the same functionality plus more with the transcription of messages. I had an old Google Voice #, and I just had to set the phone up to forward unanswered calls to that #. Turn on the "Voicemail display" option in the Voice app settings and it integrates it right into the standard phone app (showing the tape icon in the "Recent" list letting you listen to the message) pretty much just like the way it's done on the iphone. No need to give anyone your Google # or use it for anything else if you don't want.

Another cool thing that I didn't know about the phone until awhile back is how you can use a usb thumb drive.

Right after Christmas, I sold my old ipod touch on ebay and used the money toward a Samsung Tab 3 8.0 tablet for my son & I to use. I got one of these adapters for $7, and can now plug in a thumb drive with movies on it to play at any time. It works for the phone, too.

It can definitely come in handy on trips if you don't want to load up the phone or tablet with movies and don't know if you'll have wireless access.

Set this up. It is seriously awesome. Not sure how I lived without it. The Verizon visual voicemail app sucked. And now I'm saving 3 bucks a month.

I'm not seeing the difference here. Right now my cell phone forwards to my Google voice number for voicemail. I just had to put some code in on my phone and now all my voicemail directs to Google voice. Is this what you mean?I'm also contemplating setting our home phone service to go to the Google voice for voicemail. Right now we use Verizon home voicemail but always forget to check it. Would be nice if we could be alerted while we are out, and the transcribing feature is just awesome.

Yeah, I think Verizon kept the process from being as easy as it could have been to set up (not letting the Voice app do the automatic setup for you). I didn't mean to make it sound as straight forward as it came off - was focusing more on the end result and that I was pleased with it.

With my iPhone, I had to have it close enough to my face that it would fall right on my chin when I zonked out. When it happened last night, the Note fell on my chest instead. Screen adjuster app is great for this because it lets your screen go darker than the factory settings. If it is dark and you have a Note on its lowest brightness setting it is still too bright.

Windows phones for "free" if you have a iPhone 4s. Not a bad deal to switch if you are looking for something new.

I have the 1520 and may not mind downgrading to the 1020. But, most likely I go with the iPhone 6 when it comes out. Overall though, the 1520 is a nice piece of equipment.
