Anyone jumping on Vanderjagt? (1 Viewer)

IGKYA!!!

Footballguy
I was looking to fill my kicker spot this week with Jay Feeley on a bye, and noticed Mike Vanderjagt sitting out there on the wire. I picked him up and dropped Feeley.

Here is why:

He has already had his bye (useful to those in pay per transaction leagues), so you can ride him the rest of the season
He is healthy again (or is he)
The Dallas offense should generate more opportunities than it has the first 2 weeks
This guy could be a top tier kicker if healthyAnyone else think this is the right time to jump on him if he is on your wire?

:banned:

He is a solid kicker and should be good (I think top 8-15). I'm not sure your claim deserved it's own thread though. :bag:

We already knew he was a solid kicker if healthy.

 Since he is unowned in nearly 1/3 of fantasy leagues, I was alerting the Pool to an opportunity!

He is? Hasn't been available in mine since draft day--though we are required to roster two.

In many leagues he was drafted late and/or cut early due to the injury and his horrible performance where he missed 2 (or was it 3) FGs in regulation and OT.

just made a trade for him gave up reggie williams :banned:

I grabbed him Tuesday night after our waivers processed. The owner dropped him two weeks ago before his bye week and I kept in my mind that he might be available after week 3. Sure enough he was and I dropped Jason Hansen for Vanderjagt. Now if he stays healthy I have my kicker problem sorted out and do not have to carry a backup. :pickle:

From Rotoworld...

Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells says he won't make a decision on who his kicker will be until just prior to game time against Tennessee.

I was trying to trade for him for my bye week (Elam), but Im not sure now.

There shouldn't be any question. Vandy kicked and kicked well last week, and isn't even on the injury report this week.Maybe Parcells is trying to make Tennesse game plan for both kickers.

Added him this week to cover Graham's bye week 5 (DAL @ PHI), and hopefully play some matchups. Let's just hope his groin is better after the rest.

   That is strange. :banned: isn't on the injury report. And :banned: kicked lask week just fine; I believe :banned: booted a 50+ yarder!

First-time poster, at least since the old Cheatsheet days, so feel free to caveat this as you please:I've followed this situation a bit because I too have Elam on a bye and I picked up Vandy. If I recall Parcell's statement during the press conference correctly, he was referring to whether or not to activate two kickers this week. So, as I interpreted it, the issue comes down to whether or not Vandy will handle both kickoffs and field goals. Sorry, don't have a link, but I believe I read this in an article listed on the Red Zone earlier in the week so it was probably in the Dallas Morning News, the Star Telegram, or My San Antonio as those seem to be the most frequently-linked papers for Dallas coverage.

:goodposting: Thanks. That makes sense. Rotoworld and other second-hand sources often get the gist of messages incorrect when they do their paraphrasing. It sounds like the issue is who is going to do the kickoffs, not the field goal kicking. If Vandy's healthy enough to kick off, Parcells will want to use that kickoff roster spot elsewhere. Vandy should be a solid PK play this week (unless maybe your league counts kickoffs :D ).

Correct... Vanderjagt will handle placekicking, however kickoffs is still a question. It sounds like it will officially be a gametime decision, although the unofficial rumor is that Suisham will again be active and handle kickoffs.

:goodposting: I picked him up upon dropping Koenen this past week (I figured people might let him slide until this week - after his bye). VERY happy to have gotten him...my other kickers were SeBas, and Koenen. :X

I don't get it, quote from Rotoworld's daily dose today:

Mike Vanderjagt is expected to be a game-time decision this week, which means you can safely look elsewhere for kicking help.
Based on earlier posts are they getting this wrong again? Or are they really right?Decent matchup this week and I'd like to start him, but...
I'd like to know where they are getting this. Personally, I still think they are simply misconstruing what Parcells said but without seeing the actual quote, or more specific source information, it does leave one to ponder.I still put more trust in Cappy Mike Herman on this.
