Anyone just constantly snake bitten with injuries this year? (1 Viewer)

So I have a PPR dynasty league that I'm deep and talented, and yet I struggle to get a starting lineup in the last few weeks. So tomorrow I have the following players out (or most likely out):

Murray

Chubb, Hunt, Edmonds

Ridley, Claypool, Hopkins, Michael Thomas

And of course to make matters worse I started Gesicki at TE  :bag:

I just can't remember a year when it seems so many players are hurt so often. Are today's players less tough?

No.  Every single team I've had this year has had at least 3 key players miss significant time and left me under .500 on each team.  I've never experienced this in my 20+ years of fantasy.  Too many players to list.

Same as it ever was. It just happened to congregate around you this year. And we all know the answer to when that happens...

:ptts:  sucks but what else can you do?

I've lost Chark, Gallup, and Cephus in a start eight FLEX league (1 QB 8 POSITIONAL)

It's a deep league, and those injuries have been almost all year.

I'm 2-6. I'm terrible.

:ptts:

eta* I'm so bad, I forgot I was 2-7. My all-play is .495, though, so there's that! Most points scored against by a decent margin.

:ptts: again.

I play in a 10-team redraft league with 16 roster spots.  Rather than tell you all my injuries, below I will list all my players who have NOT missed time...

I lost count at 12 a few weeks ago. These included players I traded for like Kamara which means we're only getting worse! 75% of my starting lineup from my draft was hurt within the first month.

Don't get me wrong, injuries happen every year, and its not just cry for my team, just seems like players are softer, or at least getting injured more often. Its like every week you hope you have enough healthy active players to start with the bye weeks in full swing now...just crazy.

I've been crushed by injuries in 2 of my leagues. In one league this week I had 9/15 skill position players either hurt or on bye.

My other league I ran out of FAB 2 weeks ago because Ive needed to add a player or more every week due to byes and injuries.

Somehow I'm 6-3 in each due to having good WRs and luck of the schedule.

Higgins (shoulder), Mixon (ankle), Ridley (mental), CMC (hammy), DJMoore (QB), Henderson (ribs)

Somehow 7-2, but hopeful I’m through the weeds. 🤞🏼

Lost all these players at one time or another but I'm still in 3rd place out of 12 in Superflex, hoping to make a real push moving forward

Rodgers, Tua, T. Hill (keep waiting for him to get the gig)

Montgomery, Hunt, D. Evans (may have been huge with Henry going down)

Ridley, Godwin, A. Robinson (may as well be injured)

L. Thomas

Luckily only 1/3 of my leagues has been devestated. In that one, Chubb, Barkley, Miles Sanders, Carson, Julio, Antonio Brown, Golladay. Some how 4-5 so still a chance. Patterson has helped lol.

When I drafted Kamara & CEH, little did I know that in Week 10 I’d be starting two guys (D Freeman & ADP) I didn’t even expect to be in the league. But I’m sure AJ Dillon in the Flex will totally save my week.

My current IR in an auction/cap dynasty.  I got Akers after his injury but everybody else was healthy when I acquired them

Winston, Jameis NOS QB (I)
Akers, Cam LAR RB (I)
Chubb, Nick CLE RB (C)
Edwards, Gus BAL RB (I)
Evans, Darrynton TEN RB (I)
Felton, Demetric CLE RB (R) (C)
Hamler, KJ DEN WR (I)
Tonyan, Robert GBP TE (I)
Zuerlein, Greg DAL PK (C)

Another dynasty team has Watson (ok not injury but still) & Winston at QB and Barkley, Sanders, Edwards & D Harris at RB,

Yes.

My $$$$ league always cheers when players other than their own go down.

I had Henry and when he got hurt I get a bunch of texts with "Snap" and rolling laughing emoji.

Here’s a list of a guy in our league with his first 10 picks.

mccaff, kittle, sanders, Wilson, edmunds, z Moss, clay pool, jeudy, a brown, Gallup

Redraft 12 team PPR league-

Rd. 1- Aaron Jones- who flopped week 1 and then got offered a crazy "rage trade" 1:1 for CMC who got injured in the first quarter I had him on my team. Value= won me week 2. Lost 6 weeks of production here.

Rd. 2- Ridley- Sneaky top 3 WR... 3 decent weeks, 2 below par weeks and now clogging up my bench. get on the meds and get happy soon my dude. Lost 4 weeks so far.

Rd. 3- Woods- nuff ced. Thank you for the good times.

Rd. 4- Carson- 3 usable weeks, burned a bench spot for a few weeks before I dropped him.

Rd. 5- Pitts- two great weeks, 6 weeks that I could have had off the waiver wire. No injury yet lol.

Rd. 6- Tee Higgins- 5 good weeks, 2 below average weeks and 2 weeks injured. All in all, not a terrible ROI.

Rd. 7- Brady- this one is working out. No injury here yet.

Rd. 8- Boyd- Could have had a lot of guys here if not for having faded Chase so hard. Flipped him for Robinson who was basically the core of my team with Woods for a few weeks, got skunked by his mid-game injury and out last week. so ####ed one week, lost 1 so far.

So out of my first 8 rounds, I've essentially lost or been skunked by a mid game injury 21 times (17 of those concentrated in the first 4 rounds in the first 9 weeks) with all of my round 2,3,4 pick games likely gone ROS. I think I have to put CMC on the block and try to build back some high quality depth.

I lost Adams, Rodgers and Chubb to covid the last three weeks.

Also lost Henry for the year in that timespan (it’s a dynasty so in before the “6-team league?” comments)

So yeah, the last three weeks have been less than fun.

It's all over the place.

I'd like to say something like in a year like this it's unavoidable but I do actually come across a few teams in leagues that have remained fairly injury free and those teams are usually doing great(and not my teams).

But yes it's been crazy and it's been brutal in redraft even though my dynasty teams are rocked harder. The dynasty teams tend to have built up more depth but the losses in those leagues really drive home the way this year has gone.

One of them I remember around week 6 thinking to myself that other then Michael Thomas my team was pretty healthy. Week 7 was my teams massive bye week and I remember looking at my team thinking I got a heavy amount of players out but also a  lot of high quality players on my bench and in a normal week, especially once I got Thomas back,  I'd be facing a slew of very difficult WDIS. Gulp.  That very week, week 6, I would lose Hunt, AB, and Toney for week 7 and/or beyond and soon after got  confirmation that MT would not be coming back. Then as the next 2-3 weeks progressed I lost Claypool,  Robinson for a week or so, Julio on again/off again.  Even though I was down Hunt and Robinson at RB last week it's WR that has been wrecked.  I went light at the position this year with MT, Cooper,  AB,  Claypool, Toney and Julio. Felt I had enough depth  at other spots and high quality WR's to go light but this week I think only one available is Amari and next week only one I think I get back is Toney.

Got another team that back in early August I had counted 14 players, two Qb's and the other 12were RB/WR/TE's that were going in top 7-8 rounds of pretty much every re-draft. Just looking at those 12 players I felt that made me 5 deep with quality starter since this is FFPC dual flex which mean in a given week the max I could start was 7.

One of those 12 ended up just sucking. That would be Trey Sermon. But I would go on to lose Dobbins for the season, , CEH, Juedy, AB and Kittle for long stretches, , Dalvin for a few games,  Diontae for a game. My WR's/flex and QB have been fine but with all that depth I've been relegated to starting Evan Engram at TE for most of the season and some weeks scrambling for a RB. This team has led the league in scoring for 7 straight seasons and right now I think I'm 4th or 5th in scoring, and standings.

Got another dynasty team which has not had such a severe amount of injuries just key players. CMC, Michael Thomas, Ridley(non-injury but still), Hunt and James Robinson for a game. This team has been a top 2 two seed every year this league has been in existence  for 6 previous seasons. I think I'm seed 4 right now with little chance at a top two spot.

And lastly got another dynasty team which about a week ago had my top 3 RB's(CEH, Montgomery, Miles Sanders) and top drafted WR heading into the year(Ridley) all on IR or IR eligible since I can only put three of them on it.

I'll just stop here, could go on and on with this, but it's been a super challenging year for sure.

I used to believe in trading depth for a single upgrade at a skill position...now I'm not so sure. You can't freaking survive these IR/Covid players on a short bench anymore

Been hammered in my PPR 12-team league.

Dalvin Cook, Calvin Ridley, A.J. Brown, Kenny Galladay, Miles Sanders, Michael Thomas.

Somehow still 4-5.

18-team IDP dynasty league. I've lost Dobbins, Mostert, Will Fuller, Darnold (lol), Kirksey, J.J. Watt, Okwara, Randy Gregory, Harrison Smith, Malcolm Brown and freaking Greg Zuerlein. I ended last year with Watson as my QB1. Felt really good about this year prior to losing both Dobbins and Mostert despite the uncertainty surrounding Watson. Needless to say things haven't gone too well as I'm 8-10.

I have had some but so far I consider myself lucky. Jeudy week 1 then Sanders and Arob I traded for Ridley. Rodgers had his Covid thing. Knox going down has hurt a bit but for the most part I've come through. Just need to keep on trucking.

Ridley and Woods were my WR1 and WR2 on one of my teams. If I hadn’t picked up Cordarrelle I’d be completely screwed.

I was about to say that I've been lucky and have avoided injuries thus far this season, and then I remembered I've had Michael Thomas and Raheem Mostert on IR virtually all season. Still I'm luckier than many.

I've been crushed with injuries all season, and up until this week have had a player in my lineup leave in the first half with injury.... usually after 1-2 touches.

Barkley, Mostert, Carson, Edmonds, Landry, M.Thomas, Jacobs.

My only saving grace is that I also drafted Chuba Hubbard,

The silver lining of all these injuries is that it's making all my flex spots fill themselves.  No more X vs. Y, just start whoever is healthy and pray

That's funny, I feel like I've had the opposite. I'm not sure if the overall volume of injuries across my various teams is up, but I definitely feel like my weekly "flow chart" decisions are: "If Saquon plays, I'll start him. But if not, I'll start Chuba unles CMC is back, and if that happens I'll start Herbert unless Montgomery is back, and if all of those things happen I'll pick up Javonte off the WW."

Dealing with Kamara this week was like a refreshing throwback: If he played, I would start him, and if not, I would play Mitchell. Easy peasy.

I feel like the injuries increase every year which may or may not be true. This year has been brutal but it felt like last year was brutal too

If you have a handful of teams, like most of us do, one or several of them are going to be injury ridden every year.  And realistically every team is going to have a fair share.

My auction squad where I went with a studs approach and spent 85% of my bid money on CMC/Barkley/Kittle isn't do so hot right now.  I had another league where during one week a few weeks ago my first 6 picks in the draft were all out injured.

It's just part of the territory of playing this game.

In my main league I haven't had too many long term injuries, but I have had a lot of injuries during games that have cost me.  It sucks when one of your guys leaves in the 1st quarter with an injury and puts up a donut or close to it.

Are injuries better or worse than having players who aren’t injured but not doing anything or are inconsistent. Not really sure. Feels like I’d rather know a guy is out than dealing with the headache of starting a guy and losing. At least you can pivot with the former.

I have one keeper league where had CMC, Cook, Jacobs, and  Russell Wilson miss time. (I was also outbid during the auction for Hubbard and Mattison, and left without handcuffs.) Spent a lot of FAAB in Week 1 on Eli Mitchell to then have him go out for a couple of games. Lost Logan Thomas too.

Somehow still 6-3 there, and just need around 6 pts from Mitchell tonight to move up to 7-3.

I’m glad our dynasty leagues expanded their IR slots due to Covid last year. Have had 6 to 7 guys for most of the season on there.

Made a long poster earlier in this tread and said I could go on and on but I'd be done but this week gave me another worth mentioning.

Got one of those FFPC/FBG/$350 teams with CEH, Hunt, Jamaal Williams and Kamara injured.  Picked up Jermar Jefferson Sunday morning and had to cut Kahlil Herbert to do it but needed a RB this week, and maybe next week. Got 3 carries out of JJ before he went down.

28 year old Melvin Gordon is my only RB who refuses to go down.

I still play in leagues where I'm limited to 4. totally sucks. Its not like it gives you an unfair advantage when most of your starters are out :(
