Anyone looking to move LJ? (1 Viewer)

So I'm an LJ owner that has pretty much seen all the Chiefs games. Is anyone else a bit worried about how absolutely horrible their O-line is looking? I know he is getting his points in the air and has a few TDs, (he is still the #2 back in my league), but I'm a firm believer in trusting what you see with your eyes, and my eyes tell me that o-line aint' getting better anytime soon.

I'm thinking about trying to possibly move him if I can get value. I'd have to get a top tier WR and lower-tier RB1 out of the deal at minimum, but I certainly do not look at him as untouchable.

Any other LJ owners getting to this point? What would it take to move him? And non-LJ owners, what are your opinions of the guy?

If you could get a back like Parker and a receiver like Darrell Jackson, laugh your way to the championship. Use his name and his smoke and mirrors production so far to get players with less impactful names but with easier schedules and better teams. It's going to get worse for LJ from here on out.

wow.. Johnson ran into a great D that shut down LT the week before.. LJ still got me 10 points this week, before that he was averaging 150 Yards a game...

I think that was still top in the game..

I would never ever trade LJ for Parker.. Davenport is going to take his carries away, you watch.

LJ is a TD aweek from here on out.. Save him.

No offense, but have you seen Chiefs games? I agree, stat lines show he is producing. But you cannot ignore his dreadful ypc and lack of holes on the o-line. One need only look at the SF game. Looking at the final box score, you'd think that LJ would have had 150/3. But it took Herm leaving him in in the 4th Q on one of the final plays to get LJ over 100 yards. That's not good. But this is exactly what I'm looking for, other owners opinions of LJ and his worth. I can't help but feel that moving forward he is closer to RB10 than RB2 from here on out. Just trying to gauge others' opinions on the matter.

I'd be considering moving him for a solid offer. A top 8 RB and a good WR would do it for me. There's 3 reasons for this.

1. Once Trent Green comes back, they'll be looking to expand the passing roles a bit more. Huard has done OK thus far after stepping in for the injured Green, but KC's two top recieving threats (Kennison and Tony G.) have combined for less than 500 yards and only 2 TD's thus far. Once Green comes back, there's pretty much no chance that stays the same. Remember, this is the QB that's a mortal lock for 4k passing yards each year. Obviously he won't get there due to his injury, but I'd be suprised if the passing game stayed as medicore as it has.

2. The O-line is banged up and has not shown any real signs of helping LJ out. They aren't creating any holes and teams are pounding on LJ nearly everytime he gets the ball. Clearly this hasn't stopped him from still performing at a top tier level, but the constant abuse and lack of running room should be a concern.

3. LJ has a pretty brutal schedule the rest of the way.

Miami, SDx2, Den, Balt. and Jax are not going to be fun games by any stretch of the imagination. Sea has also been fairing realtively well against the run this season. That only leaves him with CLE, OAK and STL as games to really expect huge results from. Worse still, he plays against SD and Jax in the playoffs.

Even if you expect the same 16 points in production in the Denver game, the game against PIT has shown that he actually can be stopped. Expect more teams to pick up on that cue.

This being said, considering how he's done so far, I wouldn't be jumping up and screaming for a trade. But if my team was in decent shape, I'd be considering it if I was getting top dollar for him.

I pulled the #2 draft spot and took LJ with the idea to move him quickly, as I thought he was overvalued. Tuesday after week 2, I held a "speed auction" for him -- all at the same time, I sent four interested owners offers for LJ and the first to say yes got him.

I wound up withClinton Portis and Donte Stallworth, and I am now 5-1.

Do thou likewise. LJ is a monster, but the O-line is old and the all-world fullback is blocking for Chester Taylor.

Hmm, I like the speed auction approach. Nothing like setting a deadline to get a consumer to act. Might give this a try.....

Why does everyone think Denver will stop him? The first time he played Denver he had 167 Total yards. Yeah Pittsburgh stopped him, but if you look over the last few years, Pittsburgh has stopped many great RB. I think Green will help LJ. If he opens up the passing game, LJ will be scoring more.

I own LJ and I would want another teams Top round pick and maybe a 3rd player taken for him then we would talk. I would never trade him for Reggie Williams, Willie Parker, Darrell Jackson, Deion Branch, Maurice Drew, Rudi Johnson. All those guys have question marks too.

Denver has been playing good defense so far. Only let up 1 or 2 offensive touchdowns, that might have something to do with it.

I have been trying to move him. I will not move him for anything less then a top 8 RB and a top 15 WR. Right now, nobody is biting. They all feel I am asking too much. No point in selling him low. He plays SD this week which will be a struggle, but weeks 8-11 are soft. I am holding and hoping he has 1 or 2 big games and will try and move LJ before the deadline.

Oh and his FB is out for the year now...sucks.

Chiefs may be getting Welbourn back on line

After months of inconsistency, help may be on the way for the Chiefs’ offense.

Twice-suspended offensive tackle John Welbourn will join the team next week for practice, a source close to the situation said Tuesday. Welbourn, a staple on a line that paved the way for the NFL’s No. 1 offense last year, retired unexpectedly last summer, then was suspended for six weeks for violating the league’s drug policy.

While Welbourn wasn't the greatest OT ever. the return of him and Green is a definite plus.

Yes, definitely good news.

My team started horribly so I am unfortunately already out of the running for a playoff spot. I traded LJ for Reggie Bush, Darrell Jackson, and a first round pick in a keep five league.

To be honest I hadn't considered trading him, but this thread has me thinking.

I usually whell and deal constantly, but for some reason I haven't taken the time to evaluate my player's performacnce thusfar. LJ has been solid with his total yards, but his name may just get me a top WR and RB.

This is why I love this board. You guys offer me a different angle that I sometimes forget to look at.

This is HUGE. Good news, along with Green's eventual return. Here's a look at LJ's remaining matchups, along with their rank against RBs:

07 SD 0308 SEA 1309 STL@ 2310 MIA@ 0411 OAK 2412 DEN 0513 CLE@ 1814 BAL 0215 SD@ 0316 OAK@ 24I'm pretty damn concerned about the week 14 and 15 matchups. That sucks; those are the most important two weeks on the schedule. LJ has 5 relatively good matchups left and 5 that are pretty dang bad. Of the bad matchups, 3 of 5 are at home. The nice factor is that LJ will be very involved in the passing game, a la Ahman when healthy. That is the safety valve that guys like Rudi Johnson don't have. However, if somebody could move him for another potential top 5 guy that is also the undisputed goal line back and has a better schedule, I'd consider it a good move.

Wow, I knew his schedule was no cake-walk, but 5 games vs. Top 5 Run defenses is not appealing. The receiving yards is a nice buffer, but just looking at that sked alone has me thinking I should move him if I can get another top 5 rb in return....

I picked up portis and owens for him last week. :banned:
Good example of a good move. I don't think Portis for LJ alone would be that good, as Portis has a somewhat tough schedule as well. However, the combo is unarguably good!
If I could find somebody ignorant enough in ANY league, I'd take it 10 times out of 10. The topic of this thread is relative to what kinda league you're talkin' about. In my work/friends/family leagues I could see this kinda deal going down, but I don't think many redraft fantasy "saavy" owners would consider parting with TO/Portis for just LJ.just my 2 cents. ;)

Agreed. Even a week ago, Portis' value was WAY up. Of course, TO's value was WAY down a week ago, too. Good move, but I certainly couldn't see it working in my league...

LJ was moved yesterday in my big money league for Reggie Wayne and Ahman Green. The LJ owner was in pretty severe need of a WR, and has Portis and Tater still on his roster. The move sent LJ out of my division, so I can't say I wasn't a little happy about that part. He's been down a little this year, but the guy is a monster and capable of going bananas any given week. Still, I think the old LJ owner could've gotten a little better deal based solely on LJ's name and reputation. He's got some man love for Wayne, though, and that might have colored his perception of the trade a little.

Geez -- I don't care how bad he needed a WR, that was a bad trade. I'm sure he could've picked up a better RB and WR combo for LJ than Wayne and Green.

Agreed. I don't care if you're Reggie Wayne's wife (or #####); no WAY he gets you LJ! Luckily, I have Steve Smith and Torry Holt to go with LJ... No help needed there, but I would think Smith or Torry Holt - quality and consistent - better equal LJ's value! Reggie is a f'in crapshoot.

One thing to add that may or may not help, but Herm's teams with the Jets were abysmally slow starters. Guys like Santana Moss and Curtis Martin would look like absolute dogs for most of the first half of the season, and then explode in the second half.

No guarantees that this will materialize in KC, of course, but I'd think at least twice before moving LJ, unless the offer is extremely good.

Good post, and I agree. It should be considered for sure, but one would still have to pay a high price...

Just dealt LJ and Toomer for Tiki, Jacobs, Reggie Wayne and MoMo (fill-in for Sjax and Gore byes this week) in a pt/rec dynasty league.

We get it, hellfire. You're an LJ hater. If anyone was wondering, you've made that clear by hitting every LJ thread with the same slant.

 Not a hater, though. Just don't think he's tier one. That's a great trade. Much can be had when you say the letters LJ.
Hilarious, you border on "LJ thread troll."We get it, you can't stand the guy.
I no more an LJ hater than you are an LJ owner/lover. We also get that you love the guy. What's the difference? I'm curious. I base my opinion on observations and facts, and I would hope that that's what you're trying to do, too.

I'm more of a Portis/LT lover than anything. Johnson puts up fantasy numbers. period. We're looking at week 7, anything that can go wrong for LJ has gone wrong and the one league I own LJ in has RB standings looking like this..

148.3 L. Tomlinson

138.1 S. Jackson (Yet to have bye week)

136.6 F. Gore (Yet to have bye week)

133.7 K. Jones (Yet to have bye week)

131.1 L. Johnson

121.5 R. Brown (Yet to have bye week)

114.7 T. Barber

114.7 C. Portis (Yet to have bye week)

Where's your problem? What backs your point? There's my observation and fact. Where's your's?

You've got an adjenda. It's not hard to see through.

You've got an agenda as well. What's your point? Hellfire Snail simply gave a thumbs up to indicate he liked my trade-you may not like it but so? Quit stalking Hellfire already. He didn't come in here attacking you, untie your panties.

KC just placed FB Ronnie Cruz on IR....
Cruz injured his knee in Sunday's game, and had surgery. They moved TE Kris Wilson to FB. He played there quite a bit in training camp/preseason.LJ's numbers with and without a FB on the field are pretty much the same anyway. It's more of a pass protection issue.
