Anyone out there with the #1 overall pick... (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
Every site you look at, LT is a unanimous #1 overall choice (as he should be, obviously).

Just wondering if anyone wants to go on record as saying they won't take him first.

If I was in that position, BTW, I'd trade down to #2. Why not pick 23rd instead of 24th on the way back.

I want in on any league where LT's not the top pick ... unless he's involved in some sort of bus crash one day before the draft.

Even if you don't like LT (for whatever reason), if you have the #1 pick you should still draft him anyways. You can't trade him if you don't have him. Once you see who's on each teams rosters then you decide what it'd take to get him off your hands.

I've been thinking about this for while. We all believe that LT is the only choice at #1. Period. We know because of past performance. Period. We're right. Period. Group think allows for nothing else. Its an absolute. If you take anyone other than LT, your either an idiot or your taking a huge risk (and you're a guppy).

I guess I'm enough of a contrarian to think this is troubling. Anyone agree?

When you have a definite consensus everyone can be wrong.

If I got the number 1 pick in ONE draft only...I'd take LT. If I got the #1 pick in two different drafts, I'd take LT and SJAX in the other.

I really like SJAX and think he will finish #1, but would be taking a huge risk...So LT is Safer.

You might be tempted to take Jackson if you're a huge Rams fan. If so, I would try to work out a deal with the guy with the second pick and try to pick up an extra pick/player.

I'm in a league with a HUGE Rams fan and even he is more than willing to deal SJax, Fitzgerald and a 1st rounder (1.04) for LT, a middling WR and 2nd or 3rd round pick. It was probably a fairly even offer, but I wasn't going to do it.

Not only was that fair, you should have jumped on it!

Even if you don't think LT is going to finish #1 overall, taking anyone else is absolute idiocy unless you're in a no-trade league. Let's say you think that SJax or Frank Gore is going to outproduce Tomlinson this year. You can either draft SJax, or else you can draft Tomlinson and trade him for SJax and Reggie Wayne or some other WR. You might prefer SJax to Tomlinson, but let me ask you this- who do you prefer, SJax, or SJax and Reggie Wayne? Yeah, I thought so.
