Anyone play in a league (or heard of).. (1 Viewer)

...that uses QB passer rating for QB points (either bonus threshold over a certain rating or incremental)? I'm considering a league scoring format that gives QB fantasy points based on good QB ratings. Just wondering how that could work (or can't work well). I don't want to hear "stupid idea" comments/opinions etc...just feedback on whether this type of scoring exists and what scoring methods that can be applied. Thanks in advance.

I want to say that I saw it in a custom redraft league, but I was not a participant. I know that there are leagues the incorporate some elements such as points for completions and negative points for incomplete passes.

I understand the logic here.... to reward QBs like Manning or Roethlisberger who, even when they aren't throwing TDs, have triple digit QB Ratings, and it would cancel out (somewhat) guys like Bulger who just throw INTs all day... I wouldn't do it unless you could use it in a way that you can't.

If you could use it as a multiplier (X + 17.5)times score = FP.... I'd do it.

A good QB Rating is like 82.5 or so IMO... so anything above that should gain points, and anything below loses.

Of course, using this, those Rediculous 300/5 games with 150 QB ratings turn from 40 into 60 point performances....

Just a thought.

I'd say no.

Personally, I'd be OK with a 300/5 game producing 60+ points. It's performances like this... 9-11-218 with 2 TDs that also get 60+ points that would annoy me. (That line is from Week 1 in 2005 with Ben Roethlisberger doing the honors. This approach also could cost a team 20 or so points for a last-second Hail Mary throw that ends up being intercepted.

For this to work, everyone in your league needs to truly understand the ramifications of this scoring system. That is, 4 TD and 4 INTs are not necessarily as good as 1 TD with 0 INTs, etc. Otherwise, there will likely be some turmoil coming from teams that cannot understand why their QB did so poorly or their opponents' QB did so well.

My suggestion would be that you might consider the QB rating as an additional or bonus category. Something like QB rating 90-100 = 1 pt, 100-110 = 2 pts, etc.

You're already giving points for TDs and yardage and taking points away for INTs, so the only thing that is missing from the QB rating formula is completion percentage. I play in a league that gives an additional bonus if a QB completes at least 65% of his passes (minimum 20 passes).

I have a GB who is a rotisserie style league with QB having many categories, passer rating only being one of them. He got in it years ago and it is an auction dynasty league, so he is somewhat stuck in it for now. At least once every other week, he has some complaints with the system.

i wanted to add some scoring modifications to my league for QBs but nobody else supported them. i wanted passer rating to be a bonus, whether or not the qb won to be a bonus.

my thought process was this.

QB x goes 15 of 18 for 230 yards 1td 0INTs and wins

QB y goes 25 of 53 for 325 yards 3 tds, 4Ints, 1 fumble and loses

QB x gets 21 points

QB y gets 21 points

Thanks greatly for the input guys.

I was thinking of bonus points w/ QB rating over 100pts

I realize incremental scoring is the consensus most accurate/fair scoring method, but I really was just looking to replace the 300 yd passing bonus threshold we currently have with a QB rating threshold (better marker for good QB performance). I thought this was an initial step in the right direction and still keeps our leagues scoring system in tack (points for TD's and bonus points awards for high performance thresholds)

I like the pts modifier aforementioned.

Up to +/- 3 pts would be pretty good.
