Anyone shutting down Adrian Peterson this week? (1 Viewer)

Week 1: Lions shut down Blount to the tune of 5 carries/15 yards.

Week 2: Lions took out Charles, then the back up lead back Thomas Jones only ended up with 40 yards rushing.

The Detroit Lions season long rampage could continue against Minnesota.

Do we not learn from our mistakes? Some Ray Rice owners benched Rice week 1 against the Steelers. How did that turn out for them? AP is a special breed, maybe you temper expections, but do not bench him.

Funny thread. AP isn't Blount. And Thomas Jones has looked slow out there...

If you can afford to bench Peterson you are probably in a 4 man league.

No, and I have McCoy and Hillis in a start 2RB league (keeper) I'm rolling with the best RB in the league every week. Charles is the only elite runner they've seen and he only had 2 carries but had 27 yeards and between Jones and McCluster they had 20 carries for 91 yards, not horrible for some patchwork RBs, TB completely abandoned the run so Blount didn't get shut down as much as he just didn't get the ball.No way AP sits ever

If a 40 50 60 year old Thomas Jones can get 40 yards, AP will easily get over 100.

Absolutely.

I am benching AP for Earnest Graham.

Also, I am an imbecile who likes to way over-think things (if you can call it "thinking"), which is why I am mediocre at fantasy football.

Great thread!

ha ha - most sites have him ranked as number 1 or 2 this week and you are considering benching him? Wish I played in your league. Championship!

Interestingly, Peterson went for 23/160/2 (not to mention 30 receiving) in week 3 at home vs. the Lions last year, and 14/31/0 in week 17 on the road. Of course the Vikings still had a pulse in week 3 vs. 17. So anything could happen.

But the question is ridiculous, you never bench AP.

Over/Under 16?

The number of weeks in a row someone starts a "Should I bench one of the best players in the game?" thread on these forums this season?

As we speak there is a thread about benching CJ in this game, too. :loco: Apparently Vikings-Lions is going to be a defensive grudge match.

And if you did that, that is one of the very few times you would have been correct in starting rice against the Steelers (3.4 and 6.o against the Steelers last year in my ppr). Just like everybody who started every big name WR against Revis or NNamdi the past few years as they have shut them all down. Just like nearly every Rb against the Steelers the past several years.Point being: There IS a time and place to consider these things and NBYS is a broken axiom in today's NFL because no one is bullet proof (not even Brady or Brees or foster last year). With all that being said, I think Peterson has enough of a track record against the Lions to start and not overthink it too much, despite Detroit's good start and the vikes mediocre offensive play.

Some FBGs don't see All Day as a transcendent talent so I'm sure more then a few will be benching him on this feeling alone... I doubt if they even drafted him in most cases.

This is getting about as ridiculous as an MTV reality show. And just as annoying to boot.
Someone needs to bench AP so the punishment that will reign down on them by the FF gods on Sunday will benefit the rest of us AP owners that do start him.

I might bench a stud in an extreme situation. Might. But there are superstuds who I'd never bench. AP is a super stud.

80% chance that this thread is brought up Sunday around 430 with lots of :D emoticons making fun of this topic. 20% chance that the OP does the same thing against all of us. Anything can happen, but I'd rather be in the 80% chance group. Start him gleefully.

Nope. This is a case where stats don't tell the whole story. The Chiefs were running the ball well against the Lions until Charles went down. They had to pretty much abandon the run because they were down big. Peterson will get his.

Are people starting these threads just to be funny? Is this the internet message board version of coning or something?

how much evidence does AP have to give you that, as long as he is playing, you play him in FF. It's that simple.
