Anyone starting Calvin? (1 Viewer)

No I'm not starting him. Look how Andre and Schaub did against the GMEN!!! If Megatron plays I don't like the odds for Calvin. I am starting Percy Harvin vs the Cowboys over a banged up Megatron, on the Road against the NYG.

I'm holding off this week. 97.1 the ticket and our Insider Killer Kowalski reported that Johnson didn't even lift his arm untill yesterday. Sounds to me like Johnson is just a decoy come Sunday. Im rolling the dice with Nicks, M. Williams (T.B) & Gaffney starting. I have Fitz on a bye & a injuried S. Smith on the bench. I might even drop Smurf for Britt today but Im not sure on that move yet. Good Luck to you guys who have to start Johnson!

I am sitting him in favor of coin toss between a "nicked up" Mike Williams (TBB) vs a struggling Dwayne Bowe with the best match-up in town.

With a bye on the horizon I can see Calvin playing the role of decoy this week. Probably wouldn't see that many snaps anyway as the NYG rush for 300 yards at home.

If he plays, he's in... at least for me. I didn't draft him to sit and I really don't have better options.

I'm not starting him, but I already had better options at WR and my flex replacement for him isn't a slouch. I'd definitely consider starting him if I didn't have solid depth.

i would have to start Cribbs, so IF he plays I will prob start him. burleson is on the ww...thinking about picking him up and starting him.

I have him benched for Mike Wallace in one league (standard scoring) and Percy Harvin in the other league (.5 PPR). I'm leaning this way even if he plays.

I don't think anyone drafted him to sit. If you have no better option I understand, but I wouldn't play him if he isn't 100% just because he was a high pick.

Lions WR Calvin Johnson’s shoulder looks healthier with each workout. Johnson caught passes Friday with his right hand, something he hasn’t been able to do consistently all week. He doesn’t have full range of motion in the shoulder, but Johnson looks strong enough to play Sunday. "It's definitely improved every single day," coach Jim Schwartz said. "Where he'll be on Sunday, I really don't know. He hasn't had any setbacks." Johnson is officially listed as questionable for Week 6 at the Giants.

(Updated 10/15/2010).

Analysis

Johnson and the Lions will take on the NFL's best defense against the pass in Week 6 when they play the Giants. New York is giving up just 146 yards passing per contest through the first five weeks of the season. Even with that tough matchup, Fantasy owners will be hoping that Johnson can get on the field Sunday and produce some decent numbers, but he's clearly going to be a gameday decision. With a Week 7 bye, the Lions might just choose to rest Megatron this weekend and give him two weeks to heal up, but we'll have to wait and see. When healthy, Johnson is a must-start Fantasy option. If he gets the green light for Week 6, we still like Johnson as a low-end No. 1 WR Fantasy option. We'll be first to know whether or not he'll be active this Sunday on Fantasy Football Today, 11 a.m. ET here on CBSSports.com.

:bag:If he plays, he starts. He is simply to great a talent. Haven't you people learned yet. ;)
Do you think Andre Johnson is a great talent too? He has been played not fully healthy and he hasn't done well. Last year when Calvin played on a hurt leg, I learned I shouldn't have played him not healthy.

 Exactly what I'm thinking...I can't believe all the sits :bag: If he starts he's a better option than almost everyone of the options posted above. He has 10 grabs for 140 yards, 3 TDs + 20 targets the L2 weeks for the 5th best numbers at wideout....what else do you want for production ;)

On the bench for Boldin, Maclin and MSW in one league. On the bench for Ward, Welker, and Floyd in another with Crabtree and Royal who would also go before Calvin this week. I learned last year that he will often play when hurt but won't do much on the stat sheet. Looking forward to having him back after the bye.

Both arms working would be a start.

What does his most recent production have to do with him not being fully being healthy right now, and therefore owners being skeptical about starting him? Do you recall Calvin's production last year when he wasn't healthy? It was disappointing. I have a feeling that some owners feel somewhat uneasy when their WR doesn't have full motion in their shoulder.

He still has hands and feet. Don't remember the last time I caught a ball with my shoulder ;)

I'm conservative and have a few options.....starting Jennings/Driver/S SmithNYG (PPR) over Calvin....

i think the prospect of him starting but leaving after a couple catches or after a rough play is what worries us most given his history

Usually gotta lift your shoulder to catch a ball. Especially the way Calvin catches everything is a leap ball.

this.also, isnt ssog who always harps on some study that concluded if a dude plays, regardless of his injury status prior, he puts up the same numbers as healthy.

Tell that to Ray Rice. It was true though for Steven Jackson.
something about sample size and selective endpoints blah blah

that had a lot more to do with the steelers D than the injury

No it didn't. Ray was used sparingly because he wasn't 100%, and then he got a few more carries near the end when McGahee got hurt.

Do you think Andre Johnson would have played better the last couple games if he wasn't dealing with a sprained ankle?

Coach Jim Schwartz refused to name a starting quarterback Friday for the Lions' Week 6 game against the Giants.

It's very hard to imagine Matthew Stafford (shoulder) getting the nod against New York's wicked pass rush, but this is a situation best left avoided in fantasy leagues. Shaun Hill is playing well, but now squares off with the NFL's No. 1 pass defense. Look for Stafford to start after Detroit's Week 7 bye.

Matthew Stafford (shoulder) returned to the practice field Friday, throwing a few light passes to receivers.

It's by far the most extensive work Stafford has done since injuring his shoulder in Week 1. Shaun Hill still took most of the first-team reps, and he's almost certain to start at the Giants on Sunday. Stafford's first tangible sign of progress is a strong indication that he will be ready coming out of the Lions' Week 7 bye.

Calvin Johnson (questionable, shoulder) had his most extensive practice of the week on Friday, increasing his chances of playing against the Giants in Week 6.

Johnson wore shoulder pads in the non-padded practice, but he was able to graduate to stretching for balls with both arms. For what it's worth, Scout.com's Nick Caminata believes there's no question that Johnson will play. He's officially a game-time decision, and fantasy leaguers should consider that he may take on more of a decoy role on Sunday.
