Anyone starting Jonathan Stewart? (1 Viewer)

Tough call on him...you know that he is the only thing they have (running game along with Goodson), so they will ride the run for all they can, but the Steelers won't let them.

Anyone think he can put up a solid game?

I don't think he will get close to 100 yards. My guess is between 60-75 yards rushing on 20 some carries.
It wouldn't totally shock me if he put up decent numbers, but I'm not willing to bet my championship on it. I might consider it if the Panthers weren't an absolutely terrible team.

i was all set to plug in Choice but with Jones and Barber looking they are both going to play I might go with stewart

only uspide is we get .25 per carry, which will help if Carolina manages a few first downs and he can get in the ~20-25 carry range. thats an extra 5 points for me.

his points in my league the last 4 games:

12.80

21.65

15.80

19.15

thats pretty damn good

Can't bring myself to start him at flex over guys like Hillis or Torain. PITT's defense is too good at limiting RBs on good teams...forgot about teams that stink.

I may need to again with AP questionable (last week paid off). I'd prefer not to but my other options suck.

Pitt's defense:

..............Without Troy With Troy

Record 11-8 (.579) 64-26 (.711)

Points allowed 17.8 PPG 16.7 PPG

Rush yards allowed 124.7 YPG 92.5 YPG

Pass yards allowed 229.9 YPG 201.4 YPG

Total yards allowed 354.6 YPG 293.9 YPG

Turnovers forced 1.3 PG 1.5 PG

Can't do it. This matchup is poison. I don't know what his ceiling is...mebbe 80/1 but his floor is just way to scary for me.

Start Stewart.

About 10 years ago a talented young back went into Pitt and their vaunted run d and came out with about 200 yards and 4 tds. Could it happen again?

Ok, probably not but it would be cool!

Truth be told I would take 70 yards and a td.

just decided to roll with stewart over forte and felix. jets are just about as good as stillers run d. dont want to deal with likely 3headed monster in dallas.

I have no choice but to start Stewart. I have to start 2 between Stewart, ryan mathews, barber, kevin smith and lance ball. How the hell did i make the superbowl? lol

Started him last two weeks too, but will be benching him in favor of Westy. In a PPR league, and hoping this pays off. Stewart has been the only thing going for the Panthers, but I just don't see him being productive against the Steelers tonight (or should I say, as productive as I think Westy will be against the Rams).

Tough call for many owners out there, good luck.

I think your only hope is that he finds a seam and breaks off a long run in garbage time. The Steelers have just been too good against the run to think that the Panthers can move the ball on the ground with any consistency.

I need some cheap, garbage time, seam finding luuuuuuuuuuuuuv from Stew tonight !!! :hot:

No polamalu? I'm starting JStew in 2 leagues and hoping for 10 points in ppr's. I think he'll deliver that if not more.

Due to injuries and many ???? looks like I need to go with Stewart tonight. Just hoping the Panthers can keep it close enough for 3 quarters or so in order for Stew to get enough touches.

CBS (surprisingly) put up a great stat during the telecast of last week's game - they said that over the last several years, the Steelers give up about 4.0 per carry W/O Troy and only give up 3.0 per with him . . .

Start him with confidence . . .

Fox usually runs the ball regardless of time and score - and remember they are playing for Luck . . .
