Anyone starting Marshall AND Royal v ATL (1 Viewer)

skillz

I have both in a start 2WR, non-PPR league. I only started Marshall last week after seriously considering Royal as well. I am thinking with the running game in shambles and the Denver D playing so poorly that Cutler will be airing it out a lot again this week v ATL. Royal has been getting a solid number of looks each week as defenses continue to focus on Marshall so I am thinking there is enough to go around for both of them. So, is anyone else starting both or am I out of my mind? High risk, high reward play in my mind but I think both will continue to do well this week so why not?

Not necessarily calling this a bad play, but a couple of words of caution.

Thru 3 quarters, the NO passing O was essentially shut down. You can argue that Brees had an off day, but Atlanta's secondary looks vastly improved with Foxworth back there. He'll also want a big day against his former team.

In accordance with the above, a substantial percentage of the passing yardage came as Atlanta had a sizeable lead and was moving into a prevent mode, allowing all sorts of underneath throws, and not using as many pressure packages.

Both players and staff made a point of calling themselves out for breakdowns in the secondary as NO tried to mount a comeback. Should we build an early lead, I don't anticipate the coaching staff allowing that sort of a barrage again if they can help it.

That said, I can see a scenario where they both go wild but, with a patchwork backfield for Denver, I suspect you'll regret that decision as we won't have to focus quite so much on the run.

When you have two great players, you play them regardless.

There are basically four scenarios that could happen:

1 - Passing game gets shut down and neither WR does anything

2 - Only Royal has a good game

3 - Only Marshall has a good game

4 - Both Royal and Marshall have a good game

Two of the four scenarios have at least one of your WRs having a good game and one of the scenarios has both WRs having a good game. Only one scenario can end up in a complete failure. The odds are pretty much 50% that you will most likely have a good result with a 25% chance for a bad result and a 25% chance of a great result. Couple that with the fact that the liklihood of DEN's passing game getting shut down completely is unlikely and I would say definitely yes, play both of them.

Last week, in an NFFC ppr league, I started Warner, Boldin, Fitz and Breaston. Just those 4 guys gave me over 100 points.

You ALWAYS start both Marshall and Royal unless you have 3 top 10 WR's on your team. In another NFFC league, I have both these guys and I start them together every week.

Wish I had taken this advice. Had both Marshall and Royal and ended up trading Royal away a few weeks ago, right befroe he blew up two weeks in a row. Got what I think was a great deal (Felix Jones and a pick next year), but still, Royal has been a beast. Start them both.

I made the mistake last week of starting Edwards over Royal. My lineup just after the MN game 2 weeks ago had Fitz, Marshall, Royal in the lineup with Colston, Edwards on the bench but I changed it come friday to Fitz, Marshall, Edwards :bag: . I couldn't start Colston until he showed he was back and didn't like starting both Royal and Marshall. I think right now its a curse to have this many good WR. I can never start the right one and I can't get the type of RB I want in a trade for one of them.

Atlanta has always played a tough defense in their dome.

This year they have, but last week against NO was a level up. Plus, this IS in the dome.

That IS a tough call, but I'd definitely bench Edwards until he produces consistently.
