I think so. He has practiced this week, but he won't be playing this weekend. Is Brooks any closer to seeing the field?
I was going to ask this very question. I remember someone mentioning a few weeks ago when Reggie Wayne embarrassed Darrent Williams that Champ usually stays on the left side of the defense and since Harrison usually lines up on the right side of the offense, he was covered by Champ and Wayne was open all day. If that is true, doesn't Moss typically line up on the left side of the offense which would have him covered by Darrent Williams? Or would the Broncos make an exception in this case and put Champ on Moss wherever he is?I think it is wrong to assume that Bailey will mathcup on Moss all game. Champ normally stays on one side of the field. If the Raiders are smart, they will take advantage of Moss vs. Darrent Williams, as Moss can certainly find room with him covering him.
Isn't it kinda ironic that those of us that have Moss & Jordan can't wait to see Brooks available to play?I think so. He has practiced this week, but he won't be playing this weekend. Is Brooks any closer to seeing the field?
I'm amazed at useless post likes this.I'm amazed people still have Moss on their rosters.
Seriously?I'm amazed people still have Moss on their rosters.
You seriously don't the see the upside of Randy Moss?Wow....Calm down angry and frustrated Moss owners. I'm just amazed that people would want to put up with the headache every week. That's just me personally. I just don't see the upside.
FWIW (and this has been covered on many Denver defense threads) Denver's scheme calls for Bailey to cover the receiver lined up on one particular side of the field (think it's the right btu could be the left). Point is, he doesn't shadow the opposition's #1 WR.If nothing else changes between now and gametime tomorrow, Moss will be sitting on my bench for the first time this year...
I will be starting Stallworth (whose QB can actually get him the ball); and Chambers (who should be targeted about 10 times in the game)
Most of Moss' pts. on MNF came on Oakland's last possesion, when Seatlle's Def. was laying off him and Walter threw 4-5 passes his way, which he caught 3 of them. One of those catches was questionable, as I thought the ball might have hit the ground just as he caught it. Being it was towards the end of the game, Oakland in a hurry up offense, and the outcome in hand, it was not challenged or reviewed.
With the likely possibility that Champ will be shadowing him on almost every play this Sunday, I'll give Randy a rest. As someone else said, it's pathetic that us Moss owners are actualy anxious for Brooks' return.
The Chiefs are #1 in the entire NFL versus opposing #1 WRs.If Chambers gets 10 targets, based on the first 8 games of the season the chances are that he doesn't do anything worth a crap.If nothing else changes between now and gametime tomorrow, Moss will be sitting on my bench for the first time this year...I will be starting Stallworth (whose QB can actually get him the ball); and Chambers (who should be targeted about 10 times in the game)Most of Moss' pts. on MNF came on Oakland's last possesion, when Seatlle's Def. was laying off him and Walter threw 4-5 passes his way, which he caught 3 of them. Futeki said:Moss has been getting a ton of targets each week. Errant passes and drops are the problem.
However, last time @Denver in week 6, Moss put up 5 catches for 86 yards on 12 targets. A big part of the problem is the pressure on the QB. As good as the Broncos defense is, they just don't get much pressure. They only sacked Walters 4 times. Walters should feel like he has all day compared to normal.
This time the game is at home, for what little difference that makes. It is hard to bench a player who has received 12-14 looks three of the last four weeks. If Moss gets penalized when his QB throws a pick while targetting him, then that is a different story.
Moss will be perfectly fine as a WR3 this week despite Champ Bailey. I am starting him as such.
Randy mostly lines up as the Right Wide Out, Champ mostly lines up as the Left Cover Corner DB, that in itself would be the "matchup" for most of the game; but if I remember correctly in the first game between them this year when Champ stepped in front of Moss and intercepted a throw inside the Broncos' 5 yard line, Moss had lined up on the left and Champ was there to cover him...correct me if I'm wrong, but that's one of the reasons why I stated "with the likely possibility that Champ will be shadowing him".....FWIW (and this has been covered on many Denver defense threads) Denver's scheme calls for Bailey to cover the receiver lined up on one particular side of the field (think it's the right btu could be the left). That's because the best cover corner in the NFL is Pat Surtain. The Chiefs are #1 in the entire NFL versus opposing #1 WRs.
Hi Jacket, you brought up something I wasn't aware of and It's this interchange of information that makes this forum the best there is and I thak you.Chambers hasn't been doing much of anything worth a crap as it is, but my feeling is that I'm gonna start Stalworth over Chambers and Moss, and although it could very well turn out to be the wrong decision at the end of the games, I'm choosing Chambers as the best of 2 evils; DJax did catch 3 for 64 yds. and a 49 yd TD against the Chiefs 2 weeks ago.....The Chiefs are #1 in the entire NFL versus opposing #1 WRs.If Chambers gets 10 targets, based on the first 8 games of the season the chances are that he doesn't do anything worth a crap.If nothing else changes between now and gametime tomorrow, Moss will be sitting on my bench for the first time this year...I will be starting Stallworth (whose QB can actually get him the ball); and Chambers (who should be targeted about 10 times in the game)Most of Moss' pts. on MNF came on Oakland's last possesion, when Seatlle's Def. was laying off him and Walter threw 4-5 passes his way, which he caught 3 of them. Dunno about that, but the Chiefs have done a nice job against opposing #1s; it's the #3 wideouts that've killed 'em all year long, probably because Lenny Walls is the nickel and KC's usual nickel corner is out injured.Last week was a fine example: Holt invisible, Bruce solid, Curtis dynamite. That's because the best cover corner in the NFL is Pat Surtain.
I'm expecting to get a date with Jessica Alba, with me ending up in her bed later in the night.Hopefully one of us will get lucky.I'm sitting Moss in favor of Chris Henry. Walter will get sacked at least 7 times.OneEastRiver said:I'll be starting Moss this week, expecting about 90 yards and 1 TD.
Seriously you guys need to understand the difference between FF and real NFL football. In the FF world, it does not matter whether Moss gets 4 catches in garbage time or in the clutch. 2ndly, look at the targets Moss has been getting the last 5 weeks or so. How can you sit someone getting 10+ targets for a Matt freaking Jones is beyond me. Moss is a great flex start and I have been starting him every game and have had him beat my opponent's flex EVERY week except one. Go look at the FF #s he puts up for a PPR league and tell me why you would not start him as WR3 or Flex. Stop thinking he will produce like he did in the Culpepper days. And guess what, he still has the upside to put up a 2 TD 100+ game any time. He already has one 100+, 1 TD game where he dropped a sure 2nd TD.Denver does not have a great pass rush. Did any of you see Peyton drink coffee and then throw all day long? Did you see Big Ben shred the Denver secondary? Darrent Williams and John Lynch can cover no one (no speed). Last time Moss played these guys, he had 13 FPs in a PPr league. Why would you not want that from your WR3 or flex? And now they are playing at home, and given how much the Raiders hate Shanny, you think they will not want to stick it to them?Start Moss with confidence. He will be fine with his 10+ targets. Stop looking at the Raiders, just look at the FPs scored every week by Moss.
That is normally true. However, it was different in the last Oakland game: linkFWIW (and this has been covered on many Denver defense threads) Denver's scheme calls for Bailey to cover the receiver lined up on one particular side of the field (think it's the right btu could be the left). Bailey was covering Moss as part of a strategy cooked up Saturday night. The discussion involved defensive coordinator Larry Coyer and members of the secondary. Bailey normally lines up at right cornerback, which meant he would have been covering Alvis Whitted. Given the level of competition, it made sense for Bailey to do something he almost never does -- be assigned to one receiver.
``We just wanted to throw a wrinkle in there,'' Bailey said. ``We hadn't done that all year. We knew Moss was going to get the ball. If he gets some passes, I'm going to get some opportunities.
You are correct. I understand what you're saying, but you have to pick your spots with Moss. He is far from an automatic start these days. I would not be shocked if the Raiders finished with 0, 3 or 6 points. Forget the "Raiders hate Shanahan" argument. It's clearly the other way around. Shanny OWNS Oakland since he got fired.
Walter sucks, and Oakland's offense especially sucks against capable defenses.
Start him at your own risk, but I'd be surprised if he topped 45 yards.
Champ Bailey has just lined up on the right side in every game this season except for one.The problem? The one game where he shadowed the top receiver instead of strictly lining up on the right... you guessed it, at home against Oakland. In that game, he wound up shadowing Moss most of the time (although not on every play). This raises the question... did Champ Bailey shadow Moss because it would be unexpected, given the way he's played the rest of the time? And if Denver is just trying to do the unexpected to trick Walters into throwing at Bailey, might they have Champ *NOT* shadow Moss when Walters is expecting him to, just to throw Walters off? It's possible.I suspect Champ will spend most of the game against Randy, but Moss will get enough time away from Champ that he'll still get plenty of targets.NJ said:I was going to ask this very question. Darrent Williams is a very good CB. If Champ Bailey weren't in town, he'd be getting a lot more love by the media for how good he really is. If he hadn't gotten injured last year, he would very likely have been the Defensive Rookie of the Year (or at least finished in the top-2). Even the game against Indy wasn't as bad as it looked- a lot of the yards were a result of blown coverages in the secondary, Denver's soft scheme (giving a 5-7 yard cushion most of the time), and Denver's complete lack of anything resembling a passrush. Granted, it wasn't the greatest game ever played, but Darrent Williams didn't play nearly as poorly as everyone thinks he did that week. The Jacket said:If Moss is "covered" by Darrent Williams and Andrew Walter can put the ball in the same area code as Moss' route, expect 200 yards and 3 scores.
Denver had 4 sacks against Oakland last time. Against the Raiders, even a weak passrush is more than sufficient. Also, Lynch is having a remarkable year in terms of coverage (he actually seems to have gotten a step FASTER this season, which is mind-boggling for a player of his age), and as I mentioned, Darrent Williams would have had a very strong case for DRoY last year if he hadn't missed so many games. With that said, Moss is going to get his targets, and Darrent Williams is playing with a separated shoulder (if he's even playing at all). It might suck for Andrew Walters if he only completes 33% of the passes for Moss (and gets picked off twice in the process), but it doesn't hurt Moss's fantasy stats at all- and with 12 targets, 33% catch rate still results in 4 catches. Not too shabby for a downside. Also, can we go ahead and award Champ Bailey the Defensive PoY award right now? No other CB in the entire league is even CLOSE to his level at the moment. There's a greater gap between #1 and #2 at CB than there is at any other position in the entire league.Denver does not have a great pass rush. Did any of you see Peyton drink coffee and then throw all day long? Did you see Big Ben shred the Denver secondary? Darrent Williams and John Lynch can cover no one (no speed).
I don't get your logic. He gives up very few big plays has averaged around an INT a game recently. Plus his penchant for INT's in the red zone? I dont agree with this statement. He's argueably the best in the game.I'm a Moss ownercscmtp said:I know Champ is one of the best corners in the league, but it seems he does tend to give up a few big plays.

Well this morning I have changed my mind and am going withI will be starting him this week.![]()
A Raider kneed a dude in the stones last week and Shell responded withStarting Moss with confidence today. 4 of his last 5 games he has posted at least 13 fantasy points in PPR leagues. His targets are way up from the beginning of the year (he is seeing double digit targets every week now). Also, as someone mentioned above, it really doesn't matter when he gets his points -- I'm fine with him getting 6 catches in the fourth quarter during garbage time.
The biggest risk of starting Moss is his temper factor. One of these games he may just go nuts on the sidelines at Shell, Walter, the O-line, and he could get himself benched (or he could storm off the field). The risk is that this happens in the first or second quarter.
Barring the above, I expect 90 yards and a TD this afternoon.
