Looking on Bankrate.com, these guys are by far the industry leader on CD rates (3.5% on a 5yr vs. the 3.15% of the next closest competitor). But they have membership requirements. I work for none of those companies nor reside in any of the designated areas. But you can supposedly open an account if you become a member of the Connexus Assosciation, which it says only requires a one time $5 donation. Has anyone had any dealings with this FCU? They do have a 5 star rating on Bankrate so I assume it is ok. But the whole having to join the association thing seems a bit odd to me.
