Anyone want a pet dire wolf? (1 Viewer)

Those people are idiots. If they are actually dire wolves, where do they go? They have no ecosystem to fit in to. They would have be in captivity their whole lives.

Great work there, morons.

The Rogan podcast was interesting. They have a private habitat set up for them. They are currently feeding them but slowly introducing them to different forms of food. They started with just meat and are graduating to an animal carcass currently. They aren't doing this to reintroduce them into the environment, it's all experimentational at this point and any animals they make they are currently keeping onsite until they die a natural death. Interesting approach they have.

Make a ridiculous claim to hype up the company, go on a podcast to convince a bunch of laymen who don't understand genetics.

Then a month later after the story died down disclose that the CEO was lieing about their ridiculous claims.

The American way.

Three snowy white wolves, Khaleesi, Romulus and Remus, made global headlines when the biotechnology company claimed they were the world's first de-extincted dire wolves (Aenocyon dirus), brought back after over 10,000 years of extinction. Researchers were quick to criticize the claim as misleading, noting that the wolves were simply genetically modified gray wolves (Canis lupus).

In a new interview, Colossal's chief science officer Beth Shapiro has confirmed that the "dire wolves" are indeed just gray wolves with 20 modified genes.
