probably no V Jax

Offensive line issues

rookie rb

better teams in division

A few qbs fall out of the top 10 at position each year, he has red flags all over the place, inj risk?

OR is he so elite he can put up similar numbers as 09, 08 regardless.

Ryan, Flacco,?
Word of advice, most people here will stop reading and not reply to you once you start talking about your own individual roster and reason for asking the question. And the answer is, "No." He is an elite QB.

I think he stays close to what he did last year. I think Floyd steps up and Naanee is a raw talent that could do well with the opportunity. Gates is still there and Sproles will make some plays in the passing game. I like that he is falling ADP wise. I may get a good value on a guy like that.

probably no V Jax - Rivers made VJax, not the other way around

Offensive line issues - meh, I believe in AJ Smith's scouting

rookie rb - Ryan Mathews will be the new Steven Jackson and will be drafted top 5 overall next year

better teams in division - maybe the Raiders, but the Chiefs and Broncos are nothing to be scared of. And even with some nice moves by Oaktown, they still have Al Davis in tow, so it's hard to really believe.

Bottom line... don't be worried. Pip is a stud.

i am. floyd and nanee suck compared to v jax. repeat, compared to vjax.

mathews, for all his hype, is still a rookie without any game action. Gates cant do it all.

I remember when palmer was coming back the season after his injury, most said the same thing he's a stud he'll be back to elite status. Of course rivers isn't coming back from surgery, but I get the same bad vibe about the chargers as I had with the bengals that pre-season.

Some qb has to fall out of the top ten. Signs are there.

He won't be as good without VJax and renewed focus on the run (and worse pass protection from the RB).

This doesnt matter as much as the defense. If that defense doesnt improve and there is an improvement in the running game I think his numbers suffer a bit.I still have him ranked at a solid 7QB off the board.

Rivers is going to be silly value this year.
no he isn't. He is being drafted as an elite when he isnt. elite skill - yes. elite situation - no way. He has never had this weak of a receiving core.
the 06 WR core was really weak, Gates was still ther ebut eric parker and mccardell only had like 40 catches each. And Phil was still like 8th in FBG socringRivers will be fine

06 was a different time man. that was a team built to run. not to mention one of LT's best season's ever.

I don't agree necessarily. VJax is a very good talent. Certainly Rivers throws a great deep ball, but VJax continually was able to get open deep. Not sure that Floyd or Naanee can replace that. I feel that SD will be easier to defend without VJax in there. With VJax going deep a lot and taking a safety away from the middle....that allowed Gates to get open consistently in the middle of the field.I am not saying that Rivers is going to be a colossal bust, but I would knock him down a few spots....around QB10 instead of QB7 for me. So I do feel he's overvalued at this point.

He had a pretty nice connection with Naanee in the first pre-season game.

Well...the Chargers 1's looked like one of the best offenses in the league one week into the *preseason*. Preseason or not, it's nice that they showed so well. Matthews showed he can catch too (in addition to Sproles).

Sure, and Rivers is a better QB than he was 4 seasons ago as well.Rivers is entering the prime of his career. He has more experience and his physical ability hasn't begun to diminish. Imagine how much the game has slowed down for him over the last four years. He's at that point in his career where he can elevate the play of those around him more than he is limited by the play of those around him.My God. You have Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler and Kevin Kolb ranked in the top 10 right now replacing last year's top 10 finishes by Favre, Eli Manning and Big Ben. Yet we're picking Rivers to be the guy to finish outside the top 10? What guy from last year's top 10 won't be in this year's top 10? Ben Roethlisberger...because he's going to miss 25% of his chances to score fantasy points. We already know which guy won't repeat at top 10. Want another? Eli Manning...because he barely squeaked in last year and a revamped running game will keep him out of the top 10. Want another? Favre might not if his ankle isn't good. What % of top 10 QB's who play in 16 games don't repeat as a top 10 QB the next year when playing 16 games for the same team that next year?

Rivers is a gamer, I think he'll do well. I'm not worried with no Vjax, he is good but the hype he's gotten about not being on SD, he's actually getting more credit than he deserves.

Having a rookie RB, that's not a negative yet. LT wasn't that good last year, it may actually work in their favor, that point is TBD.

The part that bothers me the most is the offensive line. You have to be able to block in the run and pass game. If they have regressed ( I don't know if they have, I don't know enough about the Charger offensive line to speak on it) then it would be a red flag for sure. However, this is the area of concern for me, the others wouldn't hold me back from drafting him near his ADP.

This has been mentioned a few times in here and Im undecided about it.Watch the TD pass from this weekend and you'll see why. The blocking was below average at best; but Rivers still pumped to the middle (Bears were 2-deep zone) and then threw a perfect 30 yard ball down the sideline for the score. He had a defender in his face, but his quick release and his patience to stand in that collapsing pocket led to a long score. Impressive.
