I was going over the "worst draft" threads and there was some "worthy" Raider nominations. One thing that stuck out to me was how they've whiffed so badly on offensive linemen.
Consider these guys taken in the first 3 rounds in the last decade (not a comprehensive list but pretty complete from 1998):
Gallery—maybe not a bust but definitely not worthy of No. 2 material
Grove—is he regressing?
Walker—serviceable (maybe OK for Round 3)
Mo Collins—first round bust in 98
Stinchcomb—first round bust in 99
So are they lousy or is their whiff rate similar to other teams? Hindsight is 20/20 but if Al had "do overs" he'd have taken Fitzgerald instead of Gallery.
Maybe Paul McQuistan will be great.
Anyway, if they think Joe Thomas is the right pick, they should pass on him.
