Are you rolling the dice? (1 Viewer)

1. My league has two flex positions, and I always start 4 RBs. This week, I have Grant, Addai, Kevin Jones, and Brandon Jacobs in there, with Norwood and Selvin Young on the bench. Needless to say, I am VERY nervous about Jacobs and Jones, somewhat nervous about Addai, pretty confident about Grant.

2. With the injury to Roy Williams, I have finally pulled Calvin Johnson from my bench into the starter's role. I hope this turns out well.

What gambles are you taking this morning?

dude, every week you start a pats are getting punched in da mouf thread except when they play your own team??

damn.......

I just may start Fitz. That feels like a huge risk. Kevin Curtis is just too blah to start. The risk is settle for Curtis and his 5 points or start Fitz and hope for 15 but be willing to take a 0.

That's just it. Are you settling for your consistent but blah guys, or your shoot for the moon players? I say leave it all on the field today!

My team is so battered by injuries, I expect to be ousted in the first round today. I'm without Bush, R.Williams, Benson and Heap plus my QB is Favre who is not 100%. In a more scoring based league, I'm down to a Fred Taylor/Maurice Morris decision for RB2 to go with Parker, who has been a major disappointment at RB1 in this league (yardage is only 20 per point).

That being the case, I'm starting Roddy White as my flex to go with B.Edwards and Burress at WR. Burress hasn't done much in weeks, but he's got the potential for a huge day. I have Chris Henry and Dwayne Bowe on the bench. Sticking with Favre at QB since he has a bigger upside than my backup Garrard (who is a great "safe" play).

Probably going to be a long afternoon for me against a team with Westbrook, Grant, Edge and T.O. But I'm hoping for the best.

Big Ben, Dayne and Willie Parker are all starting for me this week. Probably going boot me right out of the playoffs, but have to try.

That depends on your situation.I am sitting Fitzgerald for Furrey. Why? Because I think my players and matchups are on the whole superior this week than my opponent's. It's better for me to avoid a high risk situation with Fitz's late start and lock in some "sure" points.

I was looking for this thread to vent too much risk.

I'm forced to start SJAX (w/ Brock Berlin at QB) and Kolby Smith (minus two starting tackles).

Could start Maroney but that would be insane.

This will likely be feast or famine.

Is this a common belief?

Play what got you here. The only time I'd consider taking a gamble is if I'm a severe underdog and desperate. I tried taking chances last year was week 7 and started some WR (not even sure who) over Hines Ward - who, until that point, had a high of 59 yards. Don't bother checking, that was his 8/171/3 week. :goodposting:

I don't know, I'm expecting nice games from Ben and Parker as they try to keep up. Not a fan of Dayne, but he'll be an alright RB2

Starting E. Graham over Westbrook. Dont want to risk the early exit when I have solid depth.

Starting Roddy White over Galloway - same rationale - but this one concerns me more with Chris redman at QB.

Starting Chris Henry over Plax. Plax has been doo doo lately aside from one garbage TD vs Min. Henry is due for the long TD.

Starting FWP over Fargas. Struggling with this one. Fargas and FWP have gone in opposite directions lately.

Not terribly comfortable with any of these decisions, but that is what makes this game fun!

Agreed, you play what got you to this point. The playoffs all of a sudden doesn't mean you go nutz......you stick to your guns, put your best team on the field and live with it.If you put some crazy lineup in and lose because of it, you will have to wait an entire year to redeem yourself.

wow. I may agree with FWP, but none other. FWIW, I hope you're right, as I start Graham due to Bush's injury, but no way in He!! do I start him over BW.

I change my mind every 5-10 minutes on the Graham over Westbrook and White over Galloway decisions. I dont disagree with your thinking at all. I am probably out-thinking myself right now.

 You gotta dance with the one who brought you this far.Holt has a bad matchup and 3rd string QB. But check his history, he often comes up huge when facing an unfavorable situation or has an unknown backup throwing to him. That is the very definition of a stud, and you nevah bench yer studs.

Going with Norwood over Lendale White. Think the Titans will be playing from behind, therefore not much action for White.

Since you're the one making the claim, why don't you "check his history" and report back to us?Give us a list of all these "unfavorable situations" or "unknown backups" and how he did in those games.

I'm sliding Roddy White into Colston's spot. Also have Steve Smith on the bench. Starting Galloway, A. Johnson and R. White. These guys have been the most consistent of my WRs of late.

1. In one league...V. Young over Kitna. Just a gut feeling that Kitna isn't going to do anthing today.

2. Other league...Starting Big Ben and FWP. Starting Battle, even with injury, over Curry.

Put it this way, there is no game this year in which BW played, where he failed either to net over 100 yards or score a TD. In 4 of the 11, he did both.McNabb is backGiants allow 92.3 yards per game on the ground; not a great matchup, but nothing I'd consider benching the BEST player in FF this year forPierce is out

Decided to go with Kolby Smith over FWP. Hard to sit your number one pick, but this is about who is expected to do better THIS week. The "easy" way out is to start Parker, and he always has the chance for a big game, but the following realities tell me that LOGIC states he is not the guy this week.

FWP is on the road - where he comes up small often

FWP is playing a Pats team that is coming off not one, but two wakeup calls. They should be UP for this game.

FWP is not getting the needed goaline opps - the team seems to pass a lot in that area

FWP could forseeably fumble away his playing time against a team that WILL be going for the strip

Smith is playing against a poor run defense

Smith is the only viable option on his team - it's he and one other rookie I believe, right? So he should get almost all the carries and opportunities.

When I think about those factors, I have to be brave enough to take a chance that Parker surprisingly comes up big when everything seems stacked against him - but the matchups state Smith has as much if not more upside and less likely downside (which means he will be shut out and FWP will now go off  )

Not by choice, but my default (injuries to Roy and Anquan) I am left with no other options at WR.

So, I will be starting...

QB- Kitna

RB- FWP and Peterson

WR - Welker, Laurent Robinson, and V. Jackson :bag:

TE - Witten

PK - Folk

Def - Pitt

I guess I will have plenty of time for holiday shopping now.

I hope you chose wisely.

oops!Thank goodness I have MBIII as my other RB and Hasselbeck at QB. Norwood may do something but I really didn't expect a game like that from Lendale.
